Pink Orchid 2024: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

The urge to prove you wrong rises within me...

Sadly, a story where none of the characters make sense is probably neither fun to read nor fun to write.

There’s already an abundance of stories like that at Lit, I’m afraid. I’ve certainly seen a fair few 😄

I'm now imagining Janis Joplin flying off into space with Zaphod Beeblebrox.

Exactly! I’m definitely looking forward to reading yours.

It's very unlikely I will actually attempt it, unfortunately.
Sorry to leave you hanging in the sky, in much the same way bricks don't.

I generally write about strong women. Even if they aren't the MC. So, I think most of what I write fits the event.
I know, right. Maybe I should write weak females for a bit to create some contrast.

Having said that, my Karaoke Event FMC is pretty weak, or pretty strong in denial (of facts and self).

Space hippies! Fill it with space hippies! There’s already a prompt and visuals provided on this thread to help you get started.
Yeah, I saw the 'visual' with everybody getting 'beamed up,' if ya know what I mean. I'm still awaiting proof that patchouli is an aphrodisiac. Oops, I'm flashing back to the sixties...

I can’t predict my schedule that far ahead, but if I am still putting out prolific writing around this event’s release window, I’ll probably feature my incest-positive adopted twin sisters Shauna & Tara Shapiro taking their first steps into a destined relationship. Not sure if they could be space hippies. Does existing in an alternate universe version of our world and knowing a few astronauts while being extremely pleasure-positive count?

[Ach’s paranoid android friend Marvin cautions against this plan, but Ach silences Marvin with a remote]

I’ll let the organizers know if the idea gels.

Oh, I know. This is why I write my own stories. Anyway, in case you do write it, the event will be here in the beginning of 2024.

They don’t have to be strong women. They can be weak. All I’m asking for is for them to make sense.

Unlike normal porn, or unlike normal women? I’m unclear.

I write evolving women with strengths and weaknesses. I can be your guide if necessary. I consider my female characters normal, similar to my men. They may start out weak but get stronger over time. Your characters can be similar. Maybe have someone decide they aren’t sure about the tentacle monster and fool it by keeping up appearances while researching how to combat it. Githyanki vs mind flayer. Or whatever analogy you prefer. Maybe she can learn better if the mind flayer is a good guy over time. I haven’t read enough of your stories to know for sure.

Okay, I'm probably not actually going to write this one, but if I do, I blame you:

To Service Mankind - a sexually frustrated linguist, suspicious of the seemingly friendly aliens' intent translates the book they all carry, learns its title "To Service Mankind" is their version of the Kama Sutra. Hijinks ensue.

Is she one of those beautiful flowers waiting to plucked? Swept off her feet by the right man, taken to heights of pleasure she's only dreamed of? The MC every Harlequin Romance, ever!

No. She’s another trope. Needy and sublimating herself to others, regardless of how they treat her. Poor self-esteem. It’s what the lyrics of the song I chose say to me.

Great story. Thx for the link. I think you’ll be just fine writing for this event. Good luck.
Thank you. I kinda squirreled it away after publishing and didn’t do any “marketing” for it. I’ve come to appreciate it as just a story over time. Was too close to it at first.

Um... did anyone else have to Google 'female agency' to find out what it is? Perhaps I should have attended some of those empowerment meetings at uni.

It seems like a complicated phrase for mere girls to understand. It’s polysyllabic FFS. Maybe a man can explain its meaning.

It's okay, hon. I'll help. That's the place we get typists from. Now, be a dear and go get me some coffee. That's a good lass.
