I got a sudden impulse to write a gay story this challenge. (Off course with a strong female character who makes it happen). As for sex, she won't participate for sure, but may be she can watch or organize...

Damn... me and my stupid brain. Not all impulses are worth pursuing...

I have a plot ready with a domestic abuse victim wife taking over the control... this would be dark tale with lot's of blood.

Well, the idea was not to turn tables and write revenge porn, but gay stories are for sure welcome, and dark stories too. I’m interested to see what you come up with!

It sounds like the kink is not the cheating. If it was, LW would be the correct choice.

I was planning on leaning into the pregnancy aspect, which is why Fetish was my alternative thought. But I honestly forgot EC exists as a category, so I'll give that some thought.

I’m not sure any kind of story is welcome at LW, it seems like a tricky category I’ll see I guess, because my PO will be my first LW story.

You have options based on what you emphasize in the story. If it leans heavily on husband’s previous infidelity and “getting even”, why not LW. If pregnancy is in central place, why not fetish. If these are both in the role of backstory and premise, and it’s about these two people connecting and having a fling, why not EC. So think what you’ve underlined in the story and go from there. Then, you could also place it based on your views and expectations of different categories and reader response there. There’s no hard rules.

While I welcome any fellow authors brave enough to post to the Loving Wives category, be forewarned; "Here there be dragons!"

The stories which do well (relatively) in LW involve extramarital sex and always end by burning anyone who enjoys the extra-martial sex! In the minds of the most dedicated voters and commenters in LW, there can be no excuse for violating vows (stated or implied) in any committed relationship. And those who cheat must suffer at least through divorce and left destitute afterwards, while the innocent spouse finds true love and success elsewhere. (EDIT: Such a story, if written well enough, might average a rating around 4.5.)

Your story of a pregnant woman 'cheating' (you didn't say if she was married to the father but imply that the photographer is not) will receive negative feedback from about 30-40% of the LW readers. And some/many of those will be nasty comments, some of which might make your skin crawl.

You need a thick skin and an "I don't give a shit" attitude to post in LW (which I've done 54 times!)

My current story of 13K words for the Pink Orchid is now 99% complete, and I must patiently resist the urge to click "Submit" until February 1st. It will go to Loving Wives, where I EXPECT some hateful comments and plenty of 1-star ratings. But after the Admins scrape the duplicate hater 1's, it will probably average between 3.0 to 3.5 after two weeks.

I post there to jerk their chains and get a reaction from the reader other than "Meh! Whatever."

Yeah, I'll probably need to give what I have another read-through and see what I want to make the main focus. I feel like I'm trending a lot on the pregnancy right now, but that could change as I progress, so I'll see where I end up and what vibe I get from the story as a whole (if I posted just what I have at the moment, I feel like it would be fetish, but we'll see). The photographer is a third party who makes her feel sexy and wanted after all the mistreatment she's received. Interesting. I read your story, got to the confrontation, and had to bail out for a bit because I got annoyed with Allen. The mixed bag of comments I see fits the category's reputation I've read about, and those particular commenters seem to have problems with women, so I could pretty readily ignore things like that.

Thanks for the example to look at. For my story, I think I agree with old_prof and AwkwardMD, the infidelity piece isn't strong enough to justify the LW category, most likely, since it's more of the setting dressing to FMC's state.

For me, comments such as "EAT SHIT AND DIE!" (yeah, I got exactly that once in LW) just roll off as the ineffective keystrokes they are.

How old is FMC? I'm guessing at the very least 40+, and probably 50+, which would definitely qualify it into Mature regardless of the age of the photographer she hooks up with. Mature is a welcoming category, so you could layer on the infidelity themes without getting any backlash, just as long as you tag it properly.

Ope, she's in her early 30s and got married young, so that's why I said long marriage. That's good to know about Mature, though

That's my fault because of the language I used. Ten+ years is a long marriage to me, but probably not to most other people

As an aside, I do have two other stories with older pregnant women I'm writing, one in her 40s and one in her 60s (the latter with the power of modern science), because I do love a pregnant, mature woman, but they're also both incest, so I believe that category trumps Mature.
