Do you have a cold that won’t go away? That’s what I have. I’m just going on excess with O. J. every morning and lots of fruit. Don’t like meds or popping pills.Hey everyone
Sorry I haven't been around much this week. Had a busy and stressy start to it, about half an hour where I felt pretty good about things, and then I came down with a cold.
So that's been me.
I do hope you're all doing ok though
So a question...
What are your go to cold and flu remedies?
Bonus question... Would anyone like to come and stroke my hair and make me feel better?
Hot water & honey (sore throat), hot water and lemon (head cold), hot water bottle, jammies, bed, TV show to binge. What are your go to cold and flu remedies?

Sorry that you're feeling under the weather. You're the third friend in the past few days who seems to have caught an autumn cold. If it's a stuffy head/sinus headache sort of cold, I'm a big fan of using a saline spray to flush my nasal passages... kind of like using a neti pot, if you're familiar with those. Helps to break things up so you can blow it out. Also helps to soothe the irritated nasal passages. I also like some of the bagged "cold care" herbal teas. And I'll use ibuprofen or paracetamol as needed too. I'll also take pseudoephedrine (the OG Sudafed which is behind the pharmacy counter here).Hey everyone

Yeah orange juice and fruit for the win.Do you have a cold that won’t go away? That’s what I have. I’m just going on excess with O. J. every morning and lots of fruit. Don’t like meds or popping pills.
All sounds perfect. My jammies are calling me alreadyHot water & honey (sore throat), hot water and lemon (head cold), hot water bottle, jammies, bed, TV show to binge.
I've never tried a neti pot but I've heard good things about them. Sudafed is really effective when my head feels like it's full of porridge - like todayI'm a big fan of using a saline spray to flush my nasal passages... kind of like using a neti pot, if you're familiar with those. Yeah as much as a hot toddy would taste amazing it would leave me feeling next to useless really. And a hot shower before bed is a good idea.Hot tea with honey (and plenty of it!)
A single ibeuprofen once a day to help with any inflammation if it’s particularly bad.
Searing hot showers morning and night to help steam out my poor nose and throat.
All the water I can drink.
No alcohol.
Oh lucozade! That's the magic missing ingredient. I've had lots of soup - just from a tin but with plenty of extra garlic, pepper and a pinch of curry powder to clear the airwaves.Hmm... Lemsip, lucozade and sweet tea usually, maybe chicken soup (or soup in general) depending on what the symptoms are![]()
Women always seem to fall asleep in my arms. Oh well; I take the fact that they’re in my arms as a win.Yeah orange juice and fruit for the win.

Thank you all for the kind offers to stroke my hair. Don't mind me if I fail asleep...![]()
Happy Friday 13th
I've taken some of your remedies on board and feel a tiny bit better so thank you all.
I've been listening to Dracula on audible and have some candles burning. I am having a couple of beers tonight because it's been a mess of a week and I'm gonna put my feet up soon and watch Loki.
Anyone got any exciting plans for the evening?
Glad to hear that you're feeling at least a tiny bit better. My only plans tonight are cooking dinner and watching season two ofHappy Friday 13th

Oh no.No exciting plans for me, as I'm afraid I've gotten a bit sick as well.
I started to feel unwell a couple of days ago, but I thought that I got out in front of it by dosing myself with echinacea and oscillococcinum. (And don't think that I didn't have to check the spelling on that one a dozen times... lol.) Then yesterday I felt almost completely fine, and was a very cocky boy, marveling at how clever I was for outsmarting my illness. In fact, I was planning to come here to visit your thread and detail my miracle cure... but my arrogance has caught up with me (lol), and now I'm feeling quite sick again. Whoops...
It sounds like you've got a lovely night planned. I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling a tiny bit better, and I hope you continue to progress happily down that path to full health!
Thanks for all of the great stuff you share here, Rosie. This thread has been very fun, and informative too.
Hope you're feeling much better very soon!
Oh I haven't seen that show.Glad to hear that you're feeling at least a tiny bit better. My only plans tonight are cooking dinner and watching season two of Brave New World. Next time we have Disney+, we'll definitely be watching the new season of Loki.
Oh I haven't seen that show.
Yeah I picked up a little bit earlier. Had a unexpected but welcome burst of energy so managed to get some house work done. I may have overdone it though because now I'm shattered... But at least I don't feel so guilty having my feet up again.

Glad you're feeling better!Hey everyone
So the cold has finally run it's course. Had my covid and flu jabs the other day which completely wrecked me too but today I'm actually feeling almost human!
Have a telephone assessment next week for some therapy. Took a few weeks to get an appointment but better late than never.
Also doing a headache diary for a few weeks to try and figure out why I get so many.
Lots of things going on which means I've neglected Lit a little bit. Hoping that will all turn back around soon. I miss chatting and having fun here.
Today is a cleaning day. Still listening to Dracula which seems to be a perfect accompaniment to the wet and blustery weather outside.
Hoping everyone is well.
What are your perfect ways to spend a rainy day?
Oh how could I forget about the food!Glad you're feeling better!
Rainy days are best spent on my couch with something tasty baking in the oven and a good movie (or series of movies) on tv.
I've spent many a rainy day keeping warm and cozy and especially hobbitty, often with the LotR movies keeping me company.Oh how could I forget about the food!
Yes being warm and cosy with nowhere to go and yummy things to eat. Makes me feel all Hobbitty![]()
