Rambling Rosie's Retreat

It's December!
There's snow on the ground and magic in the air ❤️

I bloody love Christmas. I love how it encourages us all to be the best versions of ourselves. The chance to reconnect with people we miss.

I love the cheesy songs and movies. Curling up under a blanket with a hot chocolate watching the lights on the tree twinkle.

What are your favourite things about this time of year? If there are any of you that don't celebrate, what do your Decembers look like?

I know I've neglected this place - again - but I'm gonna try and post here more often and I'd love for you to share your thoughts with me ❤️

What a beautiful post, Rosie! Thank you for this!

I'm going to have to think about this a little bit because I'm worried that I'd started to become a bit of a grinch the past couple years. Thank you for this wonderful reminder of all the good stuff. This is a lovely sentiment: "magic in the air..." Wow.
And this sentence is very moving: "I love how it encourages us all to be the best versions of ourselves." Lovely!

I guess that I don't actually have to think too long about my favourite thing about this time of year. It's 'family'. I realize that won't be everyone's answer, but I'm extremely lucky in the family I fell into... so that's a big time favourite here.

Thank you again, for this mood-lifting and heart-expanding post. Fantastic.
And obviously I'm really jumping the gun here (lol), but... Merry Christmas!

Well I thought I'd give everyone a break from my therapy blog 😂

Yeah I get the grinch feeling. Sometimes we get so focused on the things we have to do, decorating, shopping etc and how stressful it can be to complete the to do list, that we lose sight of why we're doing it and it just feels like expense and expectation take over any enjoyment. We'll, that's how I feel sometimes anyway.

Yeah family is very important. I do know not everyone is lucky to have that but found families that we choose for ourselves can bring just as much joy and love.

My kid and I will be spending Christmas and New Year with my parents and my sister and brother in law. I'm really looking forward to seeing them and not having to cook too 😂

I'm sure we'll no doubt talk again throughout the month but Merry Christmas to you too 😊

Thank you for the extremely kind message, Rosie!

You offer some brilliant counsel here, in addition to a great attitude. Thank you for the wisdom of your words!

Oh yes, "found families" are every bit as joyous and loving. Absolutely! Very well said...

It sounds like you're going to have a lovely holiday season! I'm not sure 'exactly' what I'm doing yet, between two or three options... but none of these options involve me cooking. I'm with you there... lol.

Oh, I'm sure we'll definitely talk again before then... but you're the first one to give me Christmas wishes this year! Thank you.

Is anyone here playing Whamageddon?

If you don't know it's a fun little competition to see how long you can make it through December without hearing Last Christmas by Wham on the radio or when out shopping etc.

Bonus round is harder which is escaping the Mariahpocalypse. I failed on the first day and heard All I Want For Christmas about half an hour after waking up when my son put on a Xmas playlist.

I'm still in the running for Whamageddon so far. The furthest I ever got was the 15th I think.

I’ve never heard of Whamageddon, but I am in the running. I haven’t heard Mariah so far in December, but I swear I heard that song on November 1.

I’m going for a girls weekend this next weekend. My Irish bestie will be hosting, alas, I will lose whamageddon.

I was PDW’d… but that doesn’t count, right?

*Pre-December Whamageddoned

Lost Whamageddon something like 4 times over before December.

Whamageddon is impossible for me because they have Heart Christmas radio on at work in the mornings, so I'm out one the 1st every time.

I also couldn't do the game where you have to eat a mince pie every time a Christmas tune comes on the radio.

Oh god I'd look like Violet Beauregarde by the end if I had to do that 😂
