RIP Lindsey Graham

I will admit that factory investment is returning faster than manufacturing employment. We have to remember America's manufacturing base is not simply returning to the way it existed in 1950, but a new industrial revival is underway. The evidence is the unprecedented investment in strategic manufacturing sectors such as semiconductors, advanced technology, energy systems, and critical supply chains. The goal is not to eliminate global commerce, but to ensure that America retains the industrial capacity necessary for economic strength and national security. It is a fact that factory investment is returning faster than manufacturing employment because modern factories are far more automated than those of previous generations. The "return" is often a return of industrial capability, not necessarily millions of old-style factory jobs. That distinction matters to my previous observations.
My friend Chat has a few words about this:

Over the next decade, CHIPS Act spending will clearly create some new U.S. manufacturing jobs, but not a giant nationwide factory‑jobs boom. Modern chip plants and related facilities are incredibly expensive and automated. That means each new fab or battery plant supports lots of investment and output, but only a limited number of direct production workers. Most new roles inside the plants are skilled, technical jobs that pay well, not large numbers of mid‑skill assembly‑line positions.

The bigger effect is indirect. Building and running these facilities pulls in U.S. makers of chemicals, materials, equipment, packaging, and local services like construction, maintenance, logistics, and utilities. That helps certain regions—Arizona, Texas, New York, Ohio, Oregon, and a few others—grow their advanced‑manufacturing clusters and stabilize or slowly expand local manufacturing employment. Nationally, though, CHIPS is more about changing what kinds of manufacturing jobs the U.S. has, and making the industrial base more secure, than about bringing back 1970s‑style masses of factory workers.

So for job growth in the U.S., CHIPS likely means modest net increases in manufacturing employment, higher average pay and skills in those jobs, and stronger protection for existing advanced‑industry jobs—rather than a dramatic surge in total factory headcount.

Watch the video of Lindsey Graham fiercely attacking the Democrats' efforts to destroy his character. It was, IMO, Graham's finest hour. He was ferocious in defending Kavanaugh. I remember my late wife saying "Where did Lindsey Graham get a backbone and when does he have to give it back?"

You're happy he pushed through an unqualified alcoholic?

Your hatred has become the cataract through which you view the world. It distorts every fact, magnifies every suspicion, and renders objective thought impossible. When emotion occupies the bench, reason is denied the courtesy of a hearing. It's always painful to watch you argue with reality and lose.

But often entertaining beyond measure.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WITH THESE TWO DIPSHITS

Trump's version of the "American System" is centered on putting America's workers, industries, and communities first. It emphasizes rebuilding the nation's manufacturing base, protecting economic independence, strengthening domestic supply chains, and ensuring that the benefits of America's prosperity reach the people whose labor and ingenuity helped create it, not merely global corporations and international interests. While it differs in application from Hamilton's original vision, the underlying principle is remarkably similar: a nation must maintain the economic capacity to secure its own future. Given the realities of today's global economy, I believe Hamilton would have understood the argument that economic strength and national independence are inseparable.
Well said. The other issue is these two globalists Starmer and Carney who have in the past run the world bank and are actively working hand in hand with China to depose the US dollar as the world currency. Money is being poured into the classic trades educational institutions reinvigorating manufacturing at home, building a work force filled with blue collar workers giving them a real chance at realizing and achieving the American dream.

America's "manufacturing base" left the country in the period 1973-1993.
It will never come back.
The cost basis of American manufacturing far exceeds the cost of labor in third world countries.

There is no way on earth your wishful thinking can ever manifest itself in reality.
That’s what tariffs are for. Bringing back manufacturing is happening as we speak.

Beshear is already planning to fill the seat.
He can't fill it. Kentucky law stipulates that he has to call a special election if the vacancy occurs more than three months out from the next election. That's why we're not getting any straight answers on whether or not McConnell is still alive. Expect the truth to come out after August 3.
Abortion is not safe.
It's statistically safer than childbirth, if you want to play that game.
Sorry. Not buying it.
No problem. If it were, say, Chuck Schumer or Elizabeth Warren who dropped dead over the weekend and you said something diplomatic about it, I wouldn't buy it either.

Watch the video of Lindsey Graham fiercely attacking the Democrats' efforts to destroy his character. It was, IMO, Graham's finest hour.
Watching Graham come fiercely to the defense of an accused rapist and destroying his accuser's character is his finest hour? That...kind of says it all, doesn't it?

Joe Biden has always been a gracious gentleman. Even though Hunter had problems with drug abuse, he was never a creepy snake like the Trump kids.

Hunter also lost his mom and baby sister in a car vs flatbed truck accident, where he and his brother were also seriously injured - and then his brother died of cancer from exposure to toxic waste while serving in a combat zone in Iraq…

🙁

I’ll spare a bit of grace & sympathy for Hunter.

👍

Grace & sympathy for the Trump children???

🤔

Nah. They’re all chips off the same orange cow chip..

👎

We. Told. Them. So.

Another DEI 🤡 hire from this 🎪.

Bummer about all of those earned military medals and honors taken away from black and female service members by this same administration. Why? Because they were earned through DEI 🙄

Give us a bipartisan reason this makes sense.

Of course, her having zero political experience could get her two terms as president with you traitors still being allowed to vote.
You supported a Nazi “oyster farmer” before he was forced to end his campaign.
