Runners unite

Hi All,

Just joined Lit today for the stories, buy found the forum this evening and scanning the threads and this one popped up which threw me based on 99% of the thread topics.

I’m an avid run in the UK, mostly trails to mix my love of running and being out in nature away down the hubbub of daily life.

Currently planning my 2026 event ‘want to do’ race calendar. I don’t race to race, I’m not competitive anymore, I like races to be part of cool communities as well as running interesting and great routes as well as challenge myself.

Planning on doing my first 50K next year and doing it on trails and travelling more to do races and trail weekends.

Feel free to say hi :)
I can recommend the Beacons marathon or ultra marathon. November each year. The ultra takes you up and down Pen y fan x 2. Really friendly atmosphere.

Hello! I’m a runner in central Florida. I do a fair number of 5ks and have recently begun to run 10k races also. I’m hoping to train up for a half marathon in the next six months or so too - always excited to talk running (or whatever else) :)

Slow poke runner but do several 5k and 10k each year. Local turkey trot coming up and NYE 5k planned. Fyi there is a cool naked 5k each year at nudist Turtle Lake Resort in SW Michigan. Runs through campground and resort grounds. Fun time.

how are you guys doing with your runs lately? I am finally starting to pick up the pace again. Slowly but surely. How about you?

Coasting through till the New Year. I’ll get back to it once things calm down. Did a Holiday 5k a few weeks ago.

Same. For a variety of reasons, I've only had a couple of short-ish runs since Thanksgiving Day.
Planning to do a couple more between now and the end of the year and ramp up in 2026.

Fortunately, a great long-ish race (11 miles) in March opens its registration on Jan. 1st. So that should be a good kick in the ass to get me going. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, I’m gonna focus more on cycling next year with a few bigger organized rides on the schedule and running as a fill in for training breaks.

It’s getting hot here and I don’t like running in hot weather so my times are struggling.

I did do a 30km trail run up in the mountains last month that went between two ski resorts,

Thankfully though there was snow around, our running course didn’t go through any unlike some of the longer races.

Our conditions were great. Lovely below freezing start (-4C) and very pleasant once we got moving and out of the wind.

Finished 10M trail race after Phila marathon. 11K trail race and 5K snowshoe races coming up in Jan.

How are you guys doing? Is anybody running the Miami Marathon or Half?

I've been a runner for almost 50 years. 80 marathons including 23 Boston's. Lots of injuries including a broken back in 2020. Currently, I'm dealing with a lung disease. I've run races all of this country and a few in Europe. When I was younger, 80's and 90's I competed in several triathlons. While I enjoy swimming and cycling, my first love will always be running. I miss running very much. I'm doing the stationary bike and elliptical for cardio. At age 74, I'm grateful that I can still do the things I can do.

Where I live had been buried under a sheet of ice for the past week. Not only have I not been running, but every day this week I have spent hours shoveling snow and chipping ice.

So to quote Marcellus Wallace in Pulp Fiction….Nah, man. I’m pretty fuckin’ far from okay.
You have to embrace the weather and go out and get your vitamin D fix! I did a snowshoe race here in PA last Saturday! Running in Valley Forge tomorrow!

Now, say what again! I double dare you. 😆

Yep, I was in the same boat. Lol! I hope the streets are thawing. 😍

I have been running sooooo many laps on the indoor track at the rec center here ....... Tough times for runners

It was 58 degrees today in Eugene, OR. Fine weather, at least for late January. I've been doing my usual 5 to 6 miles per day. I feel for you guys having to wear baseball cleats to run!

I don’t know what you folks are talking about. Indoor running?? It’s going to be 80* all week here in Southern California. ☀️😜☀️ suns out, guns out. Running with my shirt off.
Lucky guy. I'm envious. It was -9 degrees here in W PA
