Runners unite

Just saying hello

Runner/sprinter here from Victoria, Australia.

In summer compete from 100m to 400m. And then in winter I do enjoy a Park Run or bush trail run.

Hope your all keeping fit!

Hey folks, been away for a little while:)

I just missed 1500km on Strava last year so my goal is to hit that this year. On track so far.

It's that funny time of year where I run in shorts but I'm passing people walking in parkas and snow boots. I get some looks.

in Florida we are now entering the phase or either "Thunderstorm and intense rain" or "Don't forget your sunscreen or you will fry like an egg". I personally love to run in the rain as long as there is no lighting, and the extreme heat makes running on the hills so much harder. Specially with 90% humidity.
I have to ram up my mileage... and according to my Garmin my VO2 Max indicates that i am dead :ROFLMAO:

I grew up on the coast and don't mind running in the rain, but I find anything much longer than 10k and I can get some serious chaffing. We had freezing rain here a few days ago and that is just a whole other level of slippery but not very cold fortunately.

There are hills in Florida? 🤣I was in Tampa and St Petersburg for a conference once and the highest things I saw were Highway interchanges

The Skyway Bridge is the best workout you will get. I live at one of the highes elevations north of St. Pete near Clearwater. It is around 50 feet so not a bad run for an amature down to the bach and back.

You are absolutely correct... This is flat, flat. But i normally train on a park that was Man-made that has a couple of hills with steep incline. As a matter of fact they use the park for a lot of the local races (5k, 10K, trail runs, etc.) so the terrain varies from Asphalt, to dirt, to grass, to rocks, to cement... plus the erosion from the rain, etc. I'll post some pictures next time i'm there.

that'a beautiful bridge, but it gets super windy at the top. I always wanted to run it. Never did. It has some public parking lot at both ends and it is an spectacular area.

Wait, you said running hills is harder in the heat, but you also said you’re in Florida? Or talking about going up and over the bridges? 🤣. (Couldn’t resist!)

I used to pop on months back....
Good morning (here anyway)
Tapering for a race so my mileage is going down but will be back up soon enough.

Went for another 7k today. the weather was perfect. Hot and sunny but windy. I admit i am a lazy bitch. I have to step up my game.

Did my regular Saturday 10k trail run this morning. Really windy in SE PA today too; felt like it was in mid-40s. How can you be lazy if you made the effort to get up off the couch today? 7k’s fine!

I've got a pair of Brooks Ghosts in extra wide that I found locally. First time I've ever found a pair of XW anything in a shoe store, I've been ordering new balance XW online for years. My current trail runners are Hoka Speedgoats in wide, but they aren't wide enough and are ripped out at the sides after 500k.

Well, i should be putting more effort into this. I am very well aware of that and use the weather or the lack of sleep as an excuse. But i know is only me who is responsible for not doing it. I'm gonna go again today. I need to hold myself accountable for this.
