Runners unite

Hello! I’m a runner in central Florida. I do a fair number of 5ks and have recently begun to run 10k races also. I’m hoping to train up for a half marathon in the next six months or so too - always excited to talk running (or whatever else) :)
also from florida. Once you get in to the 10k races is another game. my favorite distance now is the half marathon. but a 10k is a perfect workout

how are those miles coming along boys and girls? I am going to need to request your Strava posts, LOL! Come on let's go people

Sadly after many years of racing those days are done for me. But she just left for her 5:30AM everyday run and it's in Maine. Snow sleet rain cold..she's fucking nuts but I'd give anything if I could still do that

Proudly not on Strava! 12K trail race in Mt Penn, PA last weekend; gearing up for a trail half next weekend on the same mountain.

Did a half marathon a couple of weeks ago
Planning on tackling a full marathon in the Autumn if I can stick the training
Why wait so long? You’re already trained from the half, just continue training for a couple months and build on what you’ve already done. So you don’t have to start over from scratch. 🤷‍♂️ or maybe you need a break. lol! I’ve been there.

I don't want to push the body too hard, slow and steady does me alright. Plus 26 miles in high summer might be too much for me

I decided to focus on cycling more this year but still running a few times a week. Currently nursing a strained calf back to health.

Wait. What?

But on behalf of all the slow “hey, 12 minute miles are better than no miles at all”, here’s a reminder: running is great, fast or slow, or whether you’re actually good at it or not.
Yes, I agree. I'm recovering from spinal surgery and it's slow going. I went from 9:00 per mile in my last marathon to barely breaking 13:00 per mile for 3 miles. But, as you said so well, I'm still running.

After three years of injuries and surgeries, I’m totally with you! I’m now 5:30:00 marathoner. And there’s no shame in walking either; what’s important is you decided not to just sit on the couch!

Now, I just have to figure out a way to get a massage from Katie!

It was a private race where I ran completely nude, there were abiut 25 women racing women who were all clothed.
I have vague recollections of a naked cross country, half marathon somewhere in the UK. Shoes were encouraged. All other clothing discouraged. Not looked into that for years

Getting back to it after injury and illness. Long way off my 5 km PB, and never likely to get back to it as that was nearly 10 years ago 😄. Apparently running clubs are the new place to meet. Not done me any favours on the romantic/sexy score, unless I've missed it completely and friend zoned myself by accident
And again. Injury and illness. In training for a half marathon at the moment. Except I'm not as I've injured myself rolling over in bed. The joys of being over 50 😁
