The president of that chapter, Shelley Mandell, did, indeed, endorse Palin. Herself, not her organization. The NOW chapter recently reissued their support for Obama and repudiated Mandell's statement, as she did not have the authority to speak for the entire organization.

As President of California NOW and as a member and officer of Los Angeles NOW, I can assure you that there is no local or state affiliate of NOW, including LA NOW, which endorses or supports the McCain/Palin ticket.

I am aware that there are some excesses in the PATRIOT Act, but what you are describing would not even come close to passing Constitutional muster. I presume you are referring to Sarah Palin. She has no control over what some hothead in the audience might shout.

That I know of, she has never blown up any buildings or killed any person, which is not something Bill ayers can say.

I don't know if it was memory loss or not, but he did seem to forget about the Korean conflict and the defeat by Anglo-American forces of Communist inspired rebels in the Malay Peninsula and the Philippines. It would be hard to pin down the date the Cold War started, but the first part was the occupation of most of Eastern Europe by the Soviet Union, and the takeover of their governments. Some of those nations had been members of the Axis, but Poland and Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia were not.

Korea and Vietnam were quite similar in that, using Soviet weapons, the northern part of a divided country invaded the southern part. In Korea, there was no Ho Chi Minh Trail and the government of South Korea was honest and stsunch enough to participate in the defeat of the invaders. In addition, there was no equivalent of the Viet Cong to contend with, and no Bill Ayers and his ilk trying to hamstring their own nation.

Personally, I think a Socialist world would be a terrible thing. Since there would be no incentive to work hard and for people to do their best, there would be strict rationing of food and other commodities, such as they have in Cuba, and even more bureaucrats than we have now. I don't know of any nation where Socialism has done well for an extended period of time. Perhaps somebody can tell me of one.

I hope you're not claiming that ALL the VC were from the south. Some of them were, of course, but they came from all over the area. And, they were supplied and reinforced from the north, indirectly from the USSR. I'm sure you have heard of the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
