SC Prude Wants To Block Sites Like This From Homes

Republicans Attempt To Limit Freedom of Speech And Women’s Rights

Now Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), one of the most die-hard anti-choice lawmakers, has jumped on the bandwagon by sneaking a radical anti-abortion amendment onto a completely unrelated piece of legislation. DeMint’s amendment would ban women and their doctors from discussing abortion over the Internet:

Anti-choice Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) just filed an anti-choice amendment to a bill related to agriculture, transportation, housing, and other programs. The DeMint amendment could bar discussion of abortion over the Internet and through videoconferencing, even if a woman’s health is at risk and if this kind of communication with her doctor is her best option to receive care.

The Republican’s claim that job creation is their number one priority is clearly nothing more than empty rhetoric. Instead of focusing on jobs, they are alienating women’s rights. This should be quite surprising to conservatives who believe Republicans are pro-American, pro-freedom, and take the stance that the government has no right to get between you and your doctor.

Conservative arguments against the Patient Care Act and Affordable Care Act consist solely on the basis that Government has no right to insinuate themselves in matters between a patient and their doctor. And yet, that is precisely what the GOP has been attempting to accomplish.

GOP Attempts to Suppress Free Speech

In the Journal News of April 20, 2014 the Clarkstown GOP attempts to explain its denial of free speech to three bloggers by suing two of them (Michael Hull and Anthony Mele) and attempting to throw a third (Jeanine Vecchiarelli) off the Republican Party’s Executive Committee through a “disloyalty hearing“.

Conservative arguments against the Patient Care Act and Affordable Care Act consist solely on the basis that Government has no right to insinuate themselves in matters between a patient and their doctor.

That's complete bullshit.

That's the conservatives argument for being pro-choice.

The arguments against ACA are vast and many.

And yet, that is precisely what the GOP has been attempting to accomplish.

That's because the GOP is really every bit the socialist control freaks the (D)'s are.

Nationalist/pragmatic socialist....they are called fascist.

Oh bullshit, put the hysterical "HITLER IS COMING!!!" left wing rags down...there won't even be a convention, unless libbies continue to piss everyone the fuck off with their insane 'let's pretend it's the 50's again!! FOR FUN!!!' social justice fantasies and the (R)'s actually manage to gain even MORE ground.

Which is possible, as it seems they are largely hellbent on doing just that.

But even if it happens I seriously doubt we will get a fuckin' anti flag burning amendment.
They have the votes in congress now and the public as a whole was fairly evenly divided a few years ago, with a slight edge to those in favor of the amendment.
With Trumps nationalistic rhetoric I wouldn't be surprised if a poll done today would show a wider margin of support for it.

Labled and censored yes.

But also prohibited because nobody should be able to talk about women like that!!

The push to stop Marilyn Manson and Eminem in the late 90's after libs tried to blame Columbine on them was real. Suburban soccer moms the nation over wanted those mother fuckers put down like rabid dogs.

Think of the Children!

But it's not the right of the government.

You like most leftist seem to struggle to make the distinction between voluntary actions between two private parties, and the government putting a gun to someones head.

Please, before you post again, look up the facts and lick my balls.
ok, you apparently know the details on this, so please link to, or give the number, of the bill introduced to ban either of their music.
Until I see some evidence of an actually introduced bill, it didn't happen.
Here's were all bills are listed. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/#bystatus

If it were to pass then that sucks for all the Leftists out there who like burning the American flag.

Until I see some evidence of an actually introduced bill, it didn't happen.

It didn't even become a bill because it was fucking insane.

Didn't stop mass soccer mom hysteria in 97'-98' trying everything they could from local bans to federal censorship to stop those misogynistic woman hating rappers!! 2liveCrew, Eminem, Manson, Limp Bizkit, Wu Tang, Pac and 3 6 Mafia practically launched 3rd wave feminism by being the pop culture boogiemen they needed.

There was a little crossover from the Jesus freaks because they all thought Manson was Satan or some shit. But it was largely rage at making millions because talking about jockin' bitches and getting your dick sucked. They weren't happy about that sexist capitalism bomb blowing up all over suburban America at all. And just about any pop culture rag from the late 90's will back that up.

SC Republican legislator Chris Corley is now under arrest, after having beat his wife and brandishing a gun in front of his kids.

Corley was one of the more vocal opponents of removing confederate flags from state property.

He's all for waving violence and symbols of violence in front of children. But at least it wasn't porn.

Yes, and it would suck for every other American who respects the first amendment.

I've never in my 60+ years been tempted to burn the US flag, but if such an amendment was added I'd be really tempted to.

Another thing that's so fucked up about the anti-flag flag burning nutjobs is that they see absolutely nothing wrong with all the "patriots" driving around with US flags hanging off the back of their trucks ripped to shit and covered in exhaust and road filth because "patriotism".

BTW, it's not just "leftists" who burn the flag.

http://betanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/dylann-roof-anti-american-photos-pp.jpg

Though I was hesitant to use him as an example because if there had been an amendment in place at the time nine people might still be alive.

It does, however, make me wonder how many "leftists" have burned a US flag then gone out and executed people.

Ok, so you admit there was no government effort to ban their music. I knew you'd come around. :D

Fucky doo.....1A is shit anyhow because nobody really does.

Everyone is happy to shit on 1A when it suits their interest.

Just like everyone is happy to shit on any amendment when it suits their interest.

Because there was no bill doesn't mean there was no effort to get the government to ban certain music.

There are those of us who believe laws should follow the constitution even when they they might be personally offensive.

There are always nutjobs wanting to ban stuff. Republicans seem to be the ones a lot more successful at banning things they find offensive.

They are an extremely rare minority.

The vast majority are more than happy to shit all over civil rights as long as it's framed in a way they like.

I don't think they are more successful, I think they are more rigid and belligerent about it.

But that's also why they are less successful.

Dems do soft prohibition. They only prohibit where it REALLY counts, making money.

Democrats fucking HATE anyone outside the cool kids club making money. They want you to take your welfare, 15/hr and stfu.

Making money for yourself is only for the elites and forbidden by anyone else.

I live in South Carolina, born and raised, and I just heard about this bill. I think it's bullshit.

It has so many potential ramifications, not just in terms of stepping all over the First Amendment and freedom of speech, but economically as well.

First of all, there's a classic legislative move going on here: calling it something beneficial and helpful. It's not a porn blocking bill, it's a "Human Trafficking Prevention Act." Who has the indecency to fight that? Think of the women and children who would be saved and protected! Ever seen that movie Taken? Your friends Representatives Bill Chumley and Mike Burns, the two who wrote this bill, will be Liam Neesons for saving your daughters! Anyone who didn't support it would immediately be stigmatized by those who only read headlines. Senators and Representatives who voted against it would be committing career suicide.

Like when I rallied against SOPA and got shit for it. "But, but it protects Intellectual Property! Says so right there! Son, I own an Intellectual Property and how dare you even begin."

As other have mentioned, if it passes then free thinking adults are going to start buying their computers out of state. The brick and mortars around here, already struggling because of online shopping, are going to suffer harder. They will probably take all of their business to other states. Independent, family owned manufacturers who custom build computers will dry up and blow up away. Everybody who bought from them is either going to North Carolina or Georgia or buying from Amazon. The companies will also be paying to obtain and install the software in the first place.

The infrastructure required to program and run a state porn block will cost millions. Not every computer runs Windows, nor are they all Macs. If installing this shit is mandatory, it will have to be recoded and converted for every existing operating system out there. Programmers will need to be hired and paid. Plus there are smartphones, tablets and e-readers, all of which access the Internet and run on their own independent platforms. The state will need some sort of central hub set up to see who has the software running. They will need manpower or more software to check who or who hasn't paid their goddamned $20.

I checked, and of course Representatives Chumley and Burns are Republicans in their mid-to-late 60's. I'm no IT professional, but based on the limited amount of wording here I'm going to make the assumption that they don't understand much about how computers work. I'm no liberal either (consider myself a moderate more than anything) but I hate censorship in all forms. I see this as little more than a scare tactic, a warning from the aging, dying Reagan Retainers that they're still in power and have the ability to keep making us miserable. The Old Guard is choking out their last labored breaths, The Reagan Moral Majority and Christianity in general are dying breeds, but their teeth can still bite.

Oh yeah, and how do you get the porn block software off your new machine? Along with your $20 payment you send a request, in writing, with your personal information to prove you're over 18. Will this be kept private? Probably not. People who opt out will be labeled perverts. They can be blackmailed, lest they be hung out to dry in front of the frothy mouthed Protestants who want an adult's right to do as they damned well please beaten to death with Bibles.

Plus, how do you decide what's porn in the first place? I'm old enough to remember having Focus on the Family's 'CyberPatrol' put on my computer when I was a kid, and what FotF considered porn was anything that made them sweat: gay rights, pro-choice sites, any -ism other than dominionism.

Fighting human trafficking sounds like a noble cause. Forcing porn surfing adults to cough up $20 isn't asking for charity, it's punishing them for having natural curiosities and needs for sex.

In short, this shit has "doomed to fail" written all over it. It will be the biggest shot in the foot to a state that is already starving for revenue, on top of making us look like backwards hicks again. If it passes, God help us because the Internet is huge, second only to people who like porn.

Here's the bill as it stands now.
http://www.scstatehouse.gov/sess122_2017-2018/bills/3003.docx

Couple of notes:
- Criminal offense if you sell a computer in SC that doesn't have the blocking.
- If someone finds porn that's no blocked they have to have a place to report it and then the mfg has to update the blocking code to block that too, also so they can report non-obscene sites that are blocked. Such a site must be unblocked withing 5 days

So we'll have software that runs on every OS, every computer hardware, every smart phone, every TV, every Blu Ray player, etc. that will need constant updates, more than Windows.

Or else firmware for all of the above that will monitor all traffic that will need to be constantly updated.

What could possibly go wrong with updates put together and distributed within 5 days?

Alternatively mfg can pay $20 per device sold that doesn't have the the blocking code. I expect that if the bill is passed every applicable device will increase in price by $20 and all the computer shops near the state line will go out of business or move across the state line to NC of GA.

So much for the Right opposing a nanny state.

Sounds more like a Sex tax, doesn't it?

Wonder if sales to state offices and agencies will be exempted so the Prudes can still watch it while diddling their interns?

South Carolinians will just have to make their own porn from now on.

They can cast the videos with family members.

Ha, I like that one. I'll have to keep it in my pocket.

Literal response: We're not all toothless family fuckers around here. I grew up in a county that's pretty much Deliverance Valley from end to end and can only think of two incest stories I've ever heard. The inbreeders and uncle lovers are as stigmatized as everything else considered to be too different.

I was trying to remember this one:
Q: What's the first thing a girl from Tennessee says after she loses her virginity?
A: Get off me daddy, you're crushing my cigarettes.

and found this one:
A young man graduated from University of Arkansas with a degree in journalism. His first assignment for the newspaper who hired him was to write a human interest story. Being from Arkansas, he went back to the country to do his research. He went to an old farmer's house way back in the hills, introduced himself to the farmer and proceeded to explain to him why he was there. The young man asked, "Has anything ever happened around here that made you happy?"
The farmer thought for a minute and said, "Yep! One time one of my neighbor's sheep got lost. We formed a posse and found it. We all screwed it and took it back home."
"I can't print that!" the young man exclaimed. "Can you think of anything else that happened that made you or a lot of other people happy?"
After another moment, the farmer said, "Yeah, one time my neighbor's daughter, a good looking girl, got lost. We formed a big posse that time and found her. After we all screwed her, we took her back home."
Again, the young man said "I can't print that either. Has anything ever happened around here that made you sad?"
The old farmer dropped his head as if he were ashamed and after a few seconds looked up timidly at the young man and said, "I got lost once."

They aren't right, they are just another flavor of control freak leftist....another kind of moral busy body pushing anti-porn instead of 'anti-USA/White guy yay radical Islam!' moral busy bodying from the (D)'s.

He might be largely right but that doesn't make the policy right.

If his argument for the moral busybodying control freakness were based in the need for government control in the interest of the public good (which it kinda is still) instead of religious morality it would be called textbook socialism.

The right, or the classic liberals say .....free speech bruh!!

That's the right's argument for banning same sex marriage. It will destroy the fabric of society and every hetero marriage in the country.

And I won't be at all surprised if within 10 years a law banning it is passed by the right and ruled constitutional by the supreme court.
