I said INCREASE them. To make them more solid and less prone to not being able to get things done. Senate is 50/50 with two that are more GQP than Dem. We need more than 50, enough more to make things work.

It is sadly ironic that these middle aged white men who so blithely dismiss and trample on women's constitutional right to bodily autonomy are the same people who scream the loudest about the sacred second amendment constitutional rights that contribute to so many American children being shot at school and at home.

I'm waiting for the documentary footage. I've been blown away with how well the select committee is doing so far and we've still got so much to learn.

I know that it is a mistake to attempt to engage with you on a meaningful level, but for some reason, I feel compelled to do so.

I will start with a point we have in common. We both find spam calls to be irritating. Of course, only a very tiny fraction come from political organizations, the overwhelming bulk are commercial solicitations for insurance, warranties, student loan forgiveness and innumerable other scams. Nevertheless, we agree that they are irritating.

I am troubled that you would choose to vent this irritation on a thread created to allow women (and people who are supportive of women's rights, but mostly women) to vent their anger, frustration and pain and the fact that men are now going to have the power to force them to go through pregnancy and childbirth, and take responsibility for at least finding someone to care for that child if not doing it themselves. To compare the devastating impact of this decision with the inconvenience of receiving unwanted telephone calls is beyond unfeeling.

I fear that you may be right that the forces of male domination and machismo my gain power in the Fall. I do want to have hope that the actions of this Supreme Court may shock people into the realization of how much worse things can get. There are posts on this thread from people saying that they did not believe that this would happen. Well, it has. In the same week that the same Court invalidated laws restricting the possesion of handguns in public places. Another decision with possibly even more far reaching implications in West Virginia v. EPA. That case may prevent a president from taking steps to limit carbon emissions.

I can only hope that the combination of these decisions will shock people into a recognition of what the Republican agenda really is.

I tend to agree. There's no question that phone banking helps mobilize voters but it's annoying AF and super intrusive. Political speech is marketing with a government approved seal. I hate those texts with a passion.
