I’ve spoken a lot with friends about how this was inevitable as the Supreme Court appointments kept flooding through. But, I still held out hope. But, as strange as it sounds, I think the leak was probably a good thing. Hopefully it helped those affected process and plan for what is likely going to be a significant hurdle for a couple decades.

I guess they are still trying to figure out how it'll work. Whether their insurance will cover it, or they will have to pay out of pocket. How long a waiting period would be. Longer stays. Waiting for passports etc.

What a woman choses to do with her body is her choice, she has to live with the repercussions of her choice. It should not be legislated.

That being said, I believe abortion should not be used as birth control. Women need to be responsible for their actions. Now I am not talking true rape. I am not talking times when the child will have zero meaningful life or will die. I am not talking when childbirth will end in death for mom or child. I am talking about having unprotected sex and using abortion to get rid of the consequences of that. I do not agree with that.

However, it is not up to me or anyone else to tell another woman that she can't. That is her decision alone. She will live with that decision the rest of her life.

OK. I read the post that @Kat73 made and I'm unclear about what she is saying with regard to true rape. I'm a guy so my interpretation of this is colored by past experience and career, so I'm not going to attempt to guess.

Maybe Katie has already made the point effectively enough, but I con'e seem to be able to stop myself from respondint.

This thread was established to allow people to express anguish and outrage at the fact that governments are now going to be able to tell women what they can and cannot do with the insides of their bodies. THAT IS AN INVASION OF PRIVACY.

Accepting your point that someone calling you to urge you to get out and vote is also an invasion of your privacy, it pales to nothingness in comparison to the invasion of a woman's privacy that this thread talks about. The government does not force you to answer those calls, and talk to the person on the other line. For 9 months. But that would still pale in comparison to the invasion of privacy at issue in this decision.

Since many states now ban abortion even in the case of rape, the absurd comparison I'm about to make is not totally off base. Suppose, instead of calling you on the phone, someone shoved your phone up your ass. That would be an invasion of privacy. Suppose, then, the government threatened to send a doctor to jail if he removed that phone in less than 9 months. NOw we are getting close to the topic of this thread.

I'm further picturing them dragging around the body of one of those old ma bell phones behind them. Let's make the term for that a lifetime since those judges are bound to sit on that court for the rest of their lives. Let em sit on that.
