Scream it out! Roe v. Wade edition

what the ever-loving fuck are you talking about. i’m one of those people with a conservative point of view that you (and so many other respondents in this thread) so readily disparage and negatively characterize with your assumptions. i know my views are counter to those of many others. but i don’t run rampant over them nor force my views on them like the high school bully. instead, i choose civil discourse, work to find areas of agreement and compromise, and seek common sense solutions that best represent my views. i certainly don’t threaten violence or war when others disagree. but, i’m also no pushover and if you come at this “Billy-Bob” with a weapon, you will find out that i’ve been at the range for years learning how to protect my family and myself when attacked by real violence. dude, please. tap the brakes on the vitriol and threats.
Hi.

You don’t get to express that you’re an avowed conservative, while also claiming that you don’t force your views on others. Modern American conservatism is all about forcing your views on others. Making America a place where your views are protected, and you are made to be comfortable by oppressing anyone who’s views are different than yours.

If you didn’t want to force your views on others, you couldn’t support a party that is actively working to eliminate the rights of Americans who aren’t exactly like you. You couldn’t support a party that actively seeks to undermine our democracy, and staged an insurrection to prevent the certification of an election because they lost it. You couldn’t.

A family friend did not like my pro choice stance so he tried to use my daughter’s adoption as the argument against me...”what if her mom had an abortion?”

A grown ass man didn’t like my opinion and tried to use my high school daughter against me. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️
People say the most horribly awfully dreadfully insulting things about adoptees and adoption. Like adoptees are some sort of social experiment or project, open to public commentary and suggestions. Adoptees should be able to carry tasers and just give out little electric nudges when someone crosses the line.

The irony of these people finding the humanity in a fetus but not a living person is just ... I can't find the words

Thinking a fetus is human and deserving of the same rights of those of us who are born is one thing, but to reduce an actual person to a counter attack and strip them of their humanity in the process cannot be justified. You have to stand on that argument in solidarity of everyone, on its own merit.

The fact that they need to undead someone hypothetically to make their point says everything I need to know about their value systems.

They don’t care about adoptees, either. Not really.

They want poor women to be forced to be breeding mares for wealthy women. They don’t actually give a shit about the babies, except as property or possessions.

Frankly, what they want is a permanent underclass that they can continue to demonize and abuse. That’s my take, at least.

maybe you’re right. maybe you’re wrong. sadly, you’ll likely never take the time to know me, so you’ll never know if your assumptions and generalizations about my beliefs and behaviors are true.

Yep. They don’t want to adopt Black or Brown kids, as evidence by what kids don’t get adopted (especially Black boys).

They are bad people, acting in bad faith. What is don't understand is how so many people start from the perspective of cruelty, a desire to hurt and punish (and not in the fun way we like to talk about around here), and just general hate.

I can disagree with someone's way of life, the choices they make, or how best to promote things (this comment has zero to do with homosexuality); but even if it's not for me, I don't have any want or desire to hurt someone for their choices. That is what I don't understand the most.

You don't believe in abortion, great. Don't have one, advocate for your family and friends not to have one if in that situation. Why on earth you think you should regulate the behavior of people you don't know, will never meet, and whom will never have an effect of your life is a mindset I can't understand or get behind (I do know why, just don't want to open even another can of worms).

White saviorism is pretty prevalent in the adoption community, though. White racists adopt black and brown kids every day. Then they ’save them’ by raising them to be one of ‘the good ones’ by keeping them away from ‘those people’

If a wealthy young white couple rolls into their evangelical church on Sunday morning with a couple cute black or brown kids in matching outfits, everyone can tell just by looking what pious and wonderful and generous people they are, right?
Never mind that the kids grow up thoroughly fucked up and full of self loathing. The important thing here is that everyone knows how wonderful those parents are to save those poor babies, and how lucky those kids are to be taken in by such sanctified white people. When they grow up, they’ll get to sit within camera view at a MAGAt rally, even!

Yes, but they need that underclass to be made up of poor white people that will vote for them. The BAC’s that donate and keep them in power need workers desperate enough to accept their shitty wages. If there aren’t enough poor white women pushing out babies, they’ll have to obtain a work force from immigration, which will eventually vote them out of power. So they need to increase the white birth rate, especially among poor people.

Wait, there seems to be some theme in the kind of people we're talking about here. And this is just the latest issue. It's always the same group of people for every one of these regressive ideas

They won’t vote them out of power if they can‘t vote. Trust that birthright citizenship is going to be on the table here very soon.

They’re desperate and scared, and scared desperate people do scary desperate things. They know the world is changing, they see the demographic shift coming that places them at slightly less of an advantage by birth, and they‘re going to get uglier and nastier as they try to cling to their power.

Exactly Trump/Steven Miller already tried to start that ball rolling.Demonizing desperate and powerless pregnant women at the southern border. Removing children from their parents, and giving them to white folks to adopt, then ‘losing track’ of the paperwork to reconnect them with their families. All while Russian and Asian women were flying in to Mar A Lago to give birth in America.

Things I will never see eye to eye with them on:

Those people don't want to take over and punish them, they just want a piece of the pie. And are willing to work for it. But the size of the pie isn't fixed, each new group grows it. The pie keeps getting bigger, and this isn't just about economics. But if you don't want to live in a robust, pluralistic social, go crawl back into a hole and turn your brain off.

I mean, they’ve done the second part of that.

@KatieDoes

What was that about a white savior complexes?

I'm not a lawyer, but ensuring a domestic supply of infants seems just a bit outside the court's job description

It's just bad faith. It's a political decision and any legal justification they are using is a means to the end.

They were all lying during the confirmation hearings. What I don't get is how people didn't know they were lying (again, or they did and it's all a game). I knew they were lying, it was fucking obvious.

They knew they were lying, too. The Federalist Society has been working towards this for a generation. That was the original deal the old school GOP made with trump to support him. Appoint our choices for judges, and we’ll ignore or cover for your idiotic nonsense. He had no clue or care about the judges, so it was an easy yes for him. They didn’t plan on him becoming so ‘beloved’ by their base, and now they have to continue playing his game or risk being primaried and taken out. They hate him as much as we do, but their long game resulted in 20% of the current federal judiciary being right wing lunatics. Unqualified, young, activist zealots.
It will take 50 years to undo the damage done by that administration, if ever.
