Scream it out! Roe v. Wade edition

If Beto loses yet again, I do hope he blames gerrymandering. That would be fun to watch.
Please know I'm on your side, and have been in the fight, but gerrymandering has little effect on statewide races since your district is irrelevant.

right wing groups have gone after fertility treatment for a loooooong time. Fertility patients are already preparing for excessive regulations on their medical treatment - especially genetic testing options. It's so disgusting.
Missouri's abortion ban that will be triggered by the overturn of Roe v Wade would effectively ban IVF. It's a domino effect thing. The law states that the death or destruction of a fertilized egg--under ANY circumstances--would be a criminal act.

It’s fascinating because anyone who has done IVF knows how hard people work to fertilize even one egg. They die on their own. It’s so fucked up.

Sooner or later, Americans with a brain will realize it is impossible to live with those without a brain.
I'm against abortion in most cases. But I'd be a lot more sympathetic to the cause if abortion wasn't used as a birth control method for half of all abortions or in the post 13 week gestation period.

And im fine with the court overturning Roe v Wade and making it a state's right to choose.
And since you are fine with that...you are then fine with the States making the other decisions Republicans love to jam down our throats...like gun control. One step closer to breaking up the Country. Win win

I live in Europe so I don't have any skin in the game so to speak. Anyway, how bad could this get? I'm thinking 1980's Ireland, no divorce, access to contraception restricted, no abortion. How far are the right wingers willing to go? If it does get that bad in certain states in the US, will that not cause alot of migration? People just saying, 'sod this, I'm off.'

It won't just be women. They'll force gay and transgender people back into the closet if they can. Make it possible for states to outlaw them, strip them of their right to adopt, marry. Several of the key decisions that decriminalized homosexuality or legalized gay marriage were actively citing the Roe precedent that will now apparently be overturned. With their legal underpinnings declared void, they should rapidly follow, probably next year if the right cases can be found.

I wouldn't be surprised to see interracial marriage called into question, though that one is now mainstream enough if might survive outside of the deep south. Hard to say.

Then it will be to formally strip voting power from black and brown people. Not just the voter suppression tactics we've seen already. Poll taxes, income limits, education requirements, property ownership. Whatever they can think of. The fringiest of fringe members may even propose revoking naturalized citizenship. They'll stop hiding that the point is to Make America White Again.

They're effectively trying to recreate the 1950's.

An Ohio Representative says if you become pregnant as a result of rape...you should view that as an "opportunity". Yes, that is the word used. This is what EVERY Republican has voted for. Every Republican. But Republicans aren't the only ones to blame...those Democrats that make excuses for their Republican friends are just as much of a problem. You associate with those that vote to support the belief that pregnancy due to rape is an opportunity? So...what line must they cross before you say enough? We can't be friends?

Oh my friend, it goes deeper than that. HIPAA Laws are also based on the Roe V Wade right to privacy in ones own body. So guess what happens as soon as this happens? They can now look into your medical records and do whatever they like with that information.

They can experiment on US Citizens without our consent or knowledge, because we will no longer have the right to our own bodies. They can and will track anyone with a history of any mental illness or other potentially disabling condition. How long before they suggest rounding us up and putting us in secure facilities for our own and the public good?

This shit show is potentially Nazi Germany all over again.

More like the 1850's. I've known Republicans who have openly called for the return of Black slavery.

Seriously.

I have told people this exact same thing. Every person who ever shouted; "The South Shall Rise Again!" is going to get their wish. No more Union. The Confederacy infiltrated, undermined and ultimately has taken control of it.

I've been waiting for years for the Republicans to set up concentration camps. It's only a matter of time, I suspect.

When that happens, Americans will still be bitching about, "Why can't both sides just get along?"

Let me tell you about healthcare data brokers

So here is a crazy thing for ya. I am watching Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on Paramount+. I highly recommend btw. But, the very first episode is about first contact with a world enmeshed in a global civil war and Cpt Pike (played brilliantly by Anson Mount) mentions the United States and its two civil wars. Hmn...

Appreciate the straight up answer. I don't Agree with it at all. And coming to that as a statistical conclusion without without verified credible resources is why there is so much arguing about it.

I have never met a single person that said they have to get an abortion because....oopsie teehee- or know anyone that knew someone. Maybe I need to get out more. Damn you covid!

Not saying it doesn't happen.

Anti-abortion means women have less body control than corpses. Thay can't be the right way of things.
