The election of 2000 came down to one state. And the result of that election basically came down to SCOTUS telling the state to stop recounts.

And counting was basically people judging whether or not the voter had sufficiently selected a punchout when that punchout may not even have been completely punched out.

A few thousand votes.....people have a legitimate gripe about that outcome....it was not based on lies about computer systems sending votes to Germany or people bussing in ballots from New York.

Ryan Wesley Routh, the man named as the suspect in a possible assassination attempt at Donald Trump's Florida golf club, urged Iran to kill the former president in a book he self-published last year.

In 'Ukraine's Unwinnable War,' he said he had made a terrible mistake in once voting for Trump, whom he described as a 'buffoon'

'I must take part of the blame for the retarded child we elected for our next president that ended up being brainless, but I am man enough to say that I misjudged and made a terrible mistake and Iran I apologize,' he said, after berating the former president for abandoning the nuclear deal with Tehran.

'You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me for that error in judgment and the dismantling of the deal.

What happens if Routh's defense is that he was working for the government and he was recruited while in Ukraine? He could also say the President/VP ordered him to make the hit and the USSS was complicit by obtaining the weapon for him and providing him with Trump's schedule.

Yes he has to do more than merely make the claims it but merely making them would upset the political applecart and that could potentially lead to reasonable doubt at his trial. No one loves the government and when the government is allegedly caught red handed it's even worse.

The reality — and verity — of Routh that burns them is that

1) He's a white male

THAT is the problem. And legacy media, and certain politicians, keeps pumping that bilgewater out to the mentally unstable. Then they claim they're not responsible.

I think the FBI and DOJ need to start doing their jobs. If that means arresting your department head and prosecuting them, then that's what it means.
