The people who are FULLY responsible (not "partly") are those who preached that judicially-confirmed elections are not legitimate and that political violence is thus "justified".
The perp in the latest incident is just another asshole who favored political violence over our election process. We have similar armed assholes right here on the Politics Board.

The man named as the suspect in a possible assassination attempt near Donald Trump's Florida golf club had a history of donating to Democrats and posted about the former president losing the election.
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, is in custody after he allegedly pointed an AK-47 at the former president while he was playing at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach on Sunday.
He is a registered Democrat and donated 19 times between September 2019 and March 2020 to the Democratic political action committee ActBlue, Federal Election Commission filings revealed.

Trump is a demonstrated threat to democracy. His opponents are not going to stop telling the truth about what he tried to pull in the 2020 election just because of gun-nut assholes attempting assassination.
Those two issues are totally separate. The only way they are connected has to do with Trump's promotion of overturning the 2020 election and MAGA support of making guns so easily available to people with violent tendencies. Both problems originated in the same movement.
Go pound sand if you think we are going to stop telling the truth about both problems.
