No. That was my father's role. Mom was a bit of an opportunist....spatula, hairbrush...you know...whatever was close by at hand.

I think the first time I said fuck when my dad was around was after I crashed on my skateboard (yeah, I wasn't good on a skateboard).... I looked up at him in horror of getting in trouble... he just said "eh, that was justified" and walked off.
Edit: Thinking back - what strikes me the funniest about this is... he didn't help me up, he didn't ask if I was all right, he didn't even pick up the skateboard which was rolling away... and that's why Gen-X is the way we are.
