Art evolves. I don’t want Halloween again. I want Scream. Or whatever comes next.

So what does come next, for the slasher genre? I mean you had Halloween as the first major example (there were arguably slasher flicks before, but none with that impact), and on the other end you have the Scream series, which was as much a response to slasher films as examples of them. And Scream was 28 years ago. Everything else seems to be trying to come up with a tragic backstory (Rob Zombie, I'm looking at you), a comedy/parody, or an attempt to just go over the top (Terrifier series).

I'm asking you because I know you liked the Scream films, and you have mentioned watching some newer iterations of slasher flicks, and maybe you have some idea.

Relevant to this convo that my brain didn’t think of last night: as mentioned in another thread, I’ve been on a Christmas horror movie kick this week, and I kicked it off by watching all 3 versions of Black Christmas (1974, 2006 and 2019), none of which I’d seen before. For better or worse, both of the remakes added a bit of backstory and their own twist to it. Never having seen the original, I had no idea how influential it probably was to other slashers, but while watching, it struck me how much Scream was likely influenced by the original, and probably even Halloween, which came out 4 years later.

You waited four years after signing up to make your first post and brother you delivered. None of us knew the best day to fuck and we’d been waiting over a year to learn it. Thank you for removing the suspense after so long.

I lovvved body splash and honestly, still kinda prefer it to heavier EdTs or perfumes, when I do use fragrances at all. I generally don’t like flowery scents at all, and love that body splashes have more fruit scents. Also, I like to stay well-hydrated and moisturized and have always had a purse obsession, so those lotion/splash/purse gift sets were my favorite! My gateway drug was Bath & Body Works Country Apple and went through a lot of different scents either by choice or from gifts, but the one I loved most was Victoria’s Secret Garden’s Sweet Temptation, which smelled like gummy bears to me. Was devastated when that was discontinued! Still haven’t found one I love more.
