I realize it’s not a practical way… cuz then you have incorrectly balanced egg distribution and are more likely to drop the carton.
I don’t know that I ever did, however, so maybe it’s ok.

I usually do 2. But that's because of how I have the eggs on my refrigerator door. If I am getting them from the actual carton then I would try to do 3.
