I feel like I've ostracized 99% of Lit's reader base with those choices. Anything I can add to make that story less popular?

🤣
Cock cage?

Second person narration? In medias res? A frame story? Every chapter 750 words?
I don’t think I’ve done anything wacky. Gratuitous pop culture references and the narrator breaking the fourth wall is about as crazy as I get.

I guess I quite liked this passage, from Desire:

Bermuda had featured a lot more than me owning up to stuff. A storm had been forecast, but it mostly missed us, just two hours of torrential rain. For the rest of the time, it was unseasonably warm. Warm enough to brave the sea. Sunny enough for Alex to take photos of me wearing my summer dress in the grounds of the apartments and then wearing rather less than that; we have a shared hobby. The seafood restaurants were great. The anole lizards engaging. The chirping of frogs at night charming. I can still hear that noise and remember standing on our balcony at dusk, his arms around me from behind, holding me tight. And his hard cock buried satisfyingly deep in my ass.

This is an Emily Miller story, not Hallmark TV. You didn't think it was all going to be romance, did you?

I think the only stylistic/weird thing I've done is a poem.

A Fragile Mind. Whether It's from the view of an actual marionette or a dead body is up for debate. Everyone seems to take it literally, though.
Oh man. That is haunting as a puppet, but doubly so if you consider that it could be a corpse. 5 star, obviously

Present tense, from the POV of an undead blind amnesiac with someone else's talking eye... An Eye For Love.
Oh wow people should go read this one. It's short and incredibly weird. Everything I hoped for when I started this thread.

I'll paraphrase the comment I left: such vivid imagery, such creative world building. You leave me wanting to know more. Who are they? Where are they? What the fuck did I just read?!

Ugh, all your other stories are just, like, normal people having sex. Way to bait and switch, @djrip . Way to bait and switch.

Thanks for the comment!

Ew, gross, right? :)

Present tense is for wusses. Future tense is where it's at.
You will not say that for long!

He'll bite the tender lobe of my ear, as I'll pull him deeper, longing to feel him closer... more, somehow.
"Oh... Oh darling..." My breath will accelerate, as I'll feel his thrusts quicken and...

You know what, that sucks. I don't really like that much. Boo future tense.

Simple future - pah, amateurs - here's an extract from my current work, written exclusively in passive perfect continuous tense.

By the end of the encounter, your nipples will have been being sucked for the last ten minutes. Your breath, which will have been being pushed out of ypur mouth in moans of orgiastic pleasure throughout the encounter will have been being interpreted by me as as a signal to continune the probing of your tongue, which will have been being explored with great passion...
Actually, that's quite enough of that...

Gay Tentacles Do Anal With Mom!

(Sounds like a great title, that. Free to anyone who wants to use it!)

Story within a story: modern-day romance alternating with a fantasy romance, 1001 Nights style
The poetry, the riddles, the parallels between the two stories... Glorious. I'm tempted to read this aloud to my wife if I can muster up the courage to admit I read porn. The language deserves to be heard.

(Since posting that comment I realize I've already told my wife about the porn. I've never shared any with her though...)

You should read RtF to her. That will endear her to the whole thing. 😏

😱

I have a few of these. I use in media res a lot. Like, a lot a lot. But in terms of story structures/stylistic choices:

Five Nights With Freddy - Starting with my most recent and absolute favorite, my collaboration with @seraph_nocturne. It's a kinky friends-to-lovers romance on a basic level, told over five non-consecutive nights. The thing that takes it over the top is this: the two characters in the story have accounts on the actual, real-world Literotica (@DomBombadil and @MsFrizzleFucks), each with a story attached. I wrote the MMC's, and seraph wrote the FMC's. They're linked in the "main" FNWF story and the MMC discovering that they're each writers (along with the kinks they have in common) are how the characters end up taking the leap from friends to lovers. I'm immensely proud of this one (and of my collaborator!) so go take a look.

I Know My Wife - A boilerplate "my wife told me she's going away with a man for the weekend" mild BTB LW story, except that it's told in first person present, but more importantly, almost the entire thing is structured like this:

I know my wife, and I know [something]

Two paragraphs with no dialogue

Repeat

It's very short, less than a Literotica page. It was also the first thing I put on the site, written in the middle of my much longer "first" story; I wrote it in a fit of panic when I was like "am I wasting my time? Is anyone going to give a shit about anything I write?"

At the End of the Tour / Funeral Dirge for a Fairytale - This one's cheating a bit, because it wasn't conceived this way, but it was how things turned out. The former is a three page BTB told from the husband's point of view over the course of ~72 hours; the latter is a nine page reconciliation told from the wife's point of view 20-odd years in the future, giving context to everything that happened before.

You Could Have Stayed - Seven conversations between a divorced couple over the course of a few years, each starting with the phrase "You could have stayed," each with different contexts.

In Vitro Veritas - Told in interweaved flashforward/flashback sequences, detailing how a loving marriage turned into a cruel 24/7 cuckqueaning arrangement... or maybe not. A tough read, I'll admit, but one which dives deep into the psychology of each character and how they make their lifestyle work.

It's almost a disappointment to know that this is based on ICU psychosis. I want a story where vampires keep people racked like bottles of wine.
I'm not saying that doesn't happen from time to time... It's just not practical or sustainable, and it's not encouraged by the authorities...
