So... Anyone ever grow a pineapple?

Back to gardening weather. I'm digging in the dirt this morning. It's time to plant the hibiscus. 🌸 It's a beautiful morning. Mid 60s. Kitty Girl is digging holes to - just not as useful ones.

On another note, Cindy did not make it. Jan and Marsha are doing great. Without Cindy I may need to have to rename them. Lucy and Ethel? I'll think about it.

The shovel is waiting.

I think it may be time to bring all my plants inside. Bah!

The most I'll do is cover some of the tender ones with a sheet when 40 and below creeps in for a few nights.

Bed is installed. Now I get to plant my hibiscus. 🌸😎

Another lovely weekend. Beautiful weather - a hair chilly in the morning with 60° and now a very comfortable 75°. Kitty Girl and I are ending daylight the way we began it - out in the garden. The hibiscus is acclimating. It even has a few buds fattening up for blooming in a bit. Zinnias are showing up in my purple petunia patch. Reseeding. It's okay, they're cheerful. Oddly enough the caladium are hanging on. They're sensitive to the least bit of cooler weather. Jan and Marsha/Lucy and Ethel are doing their pineapple thing. And I still don't have a home for my Mamie crotons. I need to get in gear and put those back beds in.

One of these days I'll post some pics. 😋

Gorgeous

I love this thread
Well done to all

I love eating 🍍
And have grown one
From the top of an earlier victim. I mean pineapple
Very satisfying

How does your garden grow?

:p

With silver bells and cockle shells
And pretty maids all in a row.

Of course. Is there any other way? :D

Thank you. :) I'm a good year off from a pineapple so I'm just filling time and inflicting my garden on everyone.

She's purty. :D
really sumptuous, and much better than the image before showing the colour. this bloom is RICHness embodied

I'm better at taking before pics since I got the smart phone. Good little cameras in these beasties.

The bud for color was on the way out. This new one is fresh bloomed today. And it has more coming. I just hope the bush does well. I don't want a sloppy rangy looking bush. But then who does. ;)

Lots of buds on the hibiscus but no more open yet.

I'm getting the materials to install the bed at the picture window. That'll probably happen over Thanksgiving weekend.

It was pretty chilly out this morning. :D

When I lived in Fairbanks in in 1975-76, I had a thermometer like this one. But, At one time, the needle was about 180°+ clockwise from what's shown. That was damn chilly living in that fucking trailer.

I like that thermometer. Easy to read, no frills. This morning it's 50. It teased with 49 as the low overnight.

Ours got stuck at -65°F and didn't move until it warmed up to -25°F.

I have a similar one in the greenhouse that I can read from inside the house, now.

Mine is on the front porch, where I can see it by pulling aside the curtain from inside. The first one I had up there didn't work out. This one has been up for almost a decade and still doing just fine.

Time for pictures. :D

It may be cold out - never did get up to the mid 60s today like they predicted. It didn't get out of the 50s. But that's okay. I took Kitty Girl outside this afternoon - all of 54 degrees. She doesn't seem very fond of the cooler weather either. She was happy to come in after about a half hour. But I did get some pictures.

The coleus with the vinca.

that second coleus? such delicate shades! so pretty

They've got some awesome coleus to choose from. Coleus has come a long way since I planted it last. I'm curious to see what happens with the ones I just put in.
