most of my real-life friends are on there, which makes it a great alternative to myspace/facebook for me, personally.
since i'm more of an observer in bbs's like this one i tend to get the same thing out of the groups on there.
plus it's so super easy to upload my dirty pics and everybody gets to see
haha.

Have I replied here? I can't remember. I did join Fetlife, same name as here, but I don't use it much at all. My involvement has mostly been "receive message, look at message, realise message is from person who hasn't read profile, ignore message".

I don't know if it's thought to be safer so much as the fact that the interface makes it much easier to post pictures. One might even say that the culture on that board encourages such sharing.

Is it your general impression that Fetlife members are indifferent to a potential public outing, or that they just don't consider the risk of an outing to be significant for whatever reason?

This is one of the reasons I have pictures there and not any over here. It's much easier over there. It has nothing to do with one place being safer then the other. It's the internet--there is no safe place. I think it did take about a year before I started posting pictures, though. I used to go over there just once in a while. Now I am there more than here. (Mostly because my PYL is over there and not here)
