Did Fetlife have a server crash?
The reason I'm asking is...I had a conversation going on with someone and all of the sudden, the whole thing is gone. Just a couple of days ago, there were messages from her to me and from me to her, and now...they're gone.
But, just those and no more, so I'm thinking there was a server crash or something and they restored from a backup that was before my conversation with her started?
Now, the problem with the above is, I don't remember her name. Our little talk hadn't been going on that long, and I actually didn't think it was going to just vanish into thin air, either.
Does anybody know...is there another way for this complete conversation to just vanish, that I'm not aware of?

Complete conversations can disappear when the other person blocks you. If you know even part of her name you can search for her. If you find her you can look up her profile. If you can't read it then she has blocked you. This is not the same as ignore on here.
There may be other reasons too, but from experience I know the above is true. (some moderator blocked me when I was having a rather heated message exchange with her.

Well, it was a casual conversation, and she initially contacted me. She lives in my city and I was at least thinking of maybe meeting her, down the road. I do need to get out more.I would LIKE to delete some pms myself.

But, like I said, it was still a casual conversation, so I don't think she would have blocked me. But, I guess anything is possible. By starting the conversation, she mentioned she liked Hitchcock movies. She saw my AV. Anyway, I was just wondering how something could just go poof like that.
And, if she poofed it, well, that's fine. I just don't want her to think I wasn't replying to her messages and being rude. I guess I can look at the local members list to see if any names ring a bell. I remember what her AV looked like and parts of her name, so I'm not totally screwed. LOL.
So, there have been occasions when stuff just goes away on Fetlife, for no reason? That's interesting. A server crash, then a restore from an old back up could cause that. If something wasn't on that backup, it would be gone when that backup is restored.
I'm not saying this is what is happening, but it is one explanation of things just going poof. And, I don't think management would want people to know their system isn't reliable, so if this is happening, it's probably hush-hush.
It reminds me of an ISP my sister had at one time. Her log-in wasn't working and we contacted the ISP to see if there had been a problem. "No problems on this end, it must be in your computer," they said.
As it turns out, they had to have a problem, because I found out her log-in had changed. Through trial and error, I got her logged on using her full name as her login, when her actual login was just a part of her name. I guess they had a failure of some sort and had to re-enter some log ins.
They must have lost some records too, and just faked it when they didn't know what the actual log in was. It's really sad, when places want to save face by lying through their teeth. And it's always fun when you catch them at it.
