well shitfire spencer I just read thru 20 pages to see how your thread goes and get to this?

No can do, keep it going even if your time is limited. I tried one myself kinda like this and it's all but dead but a few stop in now and then, yours looks good and who knows eh.

We (those on Lit) do come here (in general) for many reasons but now and then a few "real" people get active and talk about realness and not fakery just the blend it with their own hidden agendas and I think your one of those, as is toni. Now before anyone else says I think your fakes, not so, I've just seen and read toni's and spencers post for a long time and have had the pleasure of exchaning a post or two with each and that's all there is to it.

Now as far as getting no sex? Maybe not as much as I'd like but the sex I do get is awesome :D

Have a good week all

Hi Woody! Hope that you are having a good day! Spenser good luck with the new job and if you decide to keep the thread going, you know I will be dropping in. Hugs and kisses. (((((((((Spenser)))))))))))))))

OH ALRIGHT!

LOL! Each time I think it is time to end this thing, people keep telling me NO!
So, I guess I will start listening to Toni, Woody, Cat, Shadows and others and keep the old place going.

I go in for drug test tomorrow and of course do not expect any problems and then next month I am supposed to go in for training and then I will be working from 1p - 10p. So I will try to pop in from time to time whenever I can.

SO..... with that said, let's think about something to talk about.
How about the summer movies?

So far the best ones that I have seen so far have been:

Spiderman 2
The Notebook
I, Robot
Bourne Supremecy

I thought Spidie was very good and better then first, altho the first was pretty good.

I loved the Notebook. I liked the passion of the youth, but LOVED the commitment of the older couple. I have been a huge fan of James Garner for years and thought that was one of the best movies I have ever seen him in.

I, Robot was good. Even surprised me in a couple of places.

And Bourne was good altho I knew who was doing what shortly into the movie. Ok, ok... LOL I read the books a long time ago.

What movies have you seen and liked or disliked?

You all take care and I will be back as soon as I can. Pour yourself a tall one and talk to you later.

500 posts or Bust

I think Spider-Man 2 has to jump to the top of the list as the best Comic Book adaptation ever. It truly captured what makes Spider-Man comics great. I say the best are:
Spider-Man 2
Batman: The Animated Series
X-Men 2
Superman
HellBoy

The Worst ever: Captain America

I speak as a man who owns 9000 comic books. When I find the woman who is impressed by that fact, I will marry her.

:rose:

Not seen any of those yet but will try to. I have tossed a few from the stores in lately that weren't bad.

Identy

Dammit now I forget the others I felt were ok, but what's with Kill Bill? That movie sucked worse than a 2 bit hooker

and no you cant ask me how I know

I think Kill Bill was made for a very select audience: people who know as much about Kung Fu and Samuraii movies as Tarantino does. The movie is packed with in-jokes. You will either get it or you won't. I laughed my ass off all the way through.

WOW,
That is impressive. When I was a kid (I am 49 now) my dad gave me a ton of his books that he had as a kid. So of thoses were the "Big Little Books". I had all kind of titles as well as some comic books he had that were like 5 cents. Early Superman and Batman stuff.
When I started to collect mine I was getting them for 10 cents. I had a huge collection. At that time I was living with my grandmother. One day I came home to find out we were moving to a new house. When I went to go pack up my collection... THEY WERE GONE! I asked her what happened to them and she said, oh you read them already and all they did was gather dust and space and I am not going to have them at my new house.
So... since then I have found out some of the stuff I had were worth thousands. So I am very sick when I think about how much my stuff was worth.
A woman may think you are nuts but dude you go... because you could be sitting on a collection worth millions.
Well ok there you go. You tell her you are worth millions.... LOL

Woody... I am SO GLAD someone else thought the same thing I did. After about 30 mins of the movie I killed it.
That was the worst movie I had seen in years. Why he is vauled like he is for his movies I do not understand. I saw "Plup Fiction" and it was just ok. Not something I would rank as the best.
Sometimes the critics are so warped on their favorite movies.
I agree... Kill Bill was a joke and not worth the movie I wasted on it.

Agreed.

Okay, now what about the Lord of the Rings?

Is it just me or did they suck? Spencer we're close to the same age and I don't know how old your kid(s) are but my son who is 13 now kept on me for get them, so I did, all 3 parts and from what I heard they were on the same lines as harry potter, made for youth but adult level also.
I fell asleep!!! They were to long, to boring, short of meat, just a waste of effort imho. My money would have been better spent paying some hooker to watch her douce

:D :D ...We don't go to the movies much, the last movie we saw was The Passions Of Christ and I fell asleep 10 minutes into it and woke to see the last 1/2 hour....I had been awake for close to 24 hours....hubby said it was very, very good though, an eye opener.

Spenser, glad you're staying babe. I would have missed you.....very much.

LOL,
well gee... hooker or hobbit? Mmmmmmmm

Well to be honest with you... I loved Lord of the Rings.
I thought it was very close to the books and I thought they were very good and yes at times you can get lost and at times it gets slow but for the most part, I loved it. Now would I perfer a hobbit for a hooker? No... I would not go for either... but there are a few women here on Lit that I would go for in a heartbeat!
LOL

Thanks

You are quite welcome hon....

btw I did see the Lord of the Rings the 1st one and it was different...not bad after it really got started but I would not have chosen it as a movie for myself....I rented Pulp Fiction and all I can say is what the heck was that? Didn't like it...KillBill haven't seen but I have friends who say I should....the best movie I have seen in a while and only because we got it as a gift is Bruce Almighty, loved it...laughed from beginning to end....

Well seems people are talking about other movies besides just the ones from this summer so I will go ahead and share my thoughts on the ones mentioned so far...

The Passion of the Christ.... excellent movie. So many people have no idea what Jesus went through. Many of the pictures we see painted of him on the cross are so... weak. Being crucified is a horrible enough of a death but when you take into account that he was also beat 39 times with the whips they used (leather with chucks of glass and stone embedded in the leather to tear the flesh) what Mel portrayed was very real to what beating and crucifixes were like back in the Roman times. I also liked how he brought some humor in with the flash backs of him and his mom and his carpenter skills.

Bruce Almighty ... I like this as well and I thought Morgan Freemon was a cool God.

Lord of the Rings is not for everyone. I would say that if you were a lover of the books or if you are into Medival times, you will like the movie. If you are looking for sci-fi, this was not the movie. This was based on the Books and tried to follow the books in great detail and as close as they could get them. People either love it or hate it.

oops, sorry bout that, actually I haven't been out to a movie in years so the few I know are rented ones.

Bruce Almighty was outstanding

Lord of the rings, I just didn't get so lol, who know

Hi Spenser! How are you? Hope everyone has a great HUMP day!

I have not been to the movies much lately. I went to see the new Harry Potter movie on my son's birthday. I enjoyed it.

We have rented alot of movies.

Mystic River was great. 21 grams - very good.

My son thinks that Spiderman 2 was great. I have not seen it yet.

I watched Bourne Identity a week or so ago and have heard that Bourne Supremcy is even better.

Have not heard anything good about Catwoman, other than Halle Berry looks hot in the suit! lol. However, my son still wants to see it and thinks that it might be pretty good!

Haven't seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies. AA saw them all and loved them, a co-worker has seen all, or at least the first two, not sure about the last one. And he said that they were good, but that they were not a kid's movie like alot of ppl thought when they first came out. Not like Harry Potter. But he had read the books and like them as well.

I loved Ocean's Eleven and can't wait until Ocean's Twelve comes out.

Hi Toni, you sexy thing you...

Harry Potter was good.

Mystic River was ok. I did not like the movie and could see where the story was going before half way into it. And the end left it hanging... again it was just ok.

21 grams... not my kind of movie.

Catwoman.... that is kind of strange. I only know her from the Batman stuff and it looks like they are totally rewriting what happens to her and how she becomes Catwoman. So that is kind of strange.

The Lord of the Rings were never to be kid movies. Not sure where people got that. I guess from the books. They never were in the vain of Harry Potter.

Ocean's Eleven was good (better then the Rat Packs version) and looking forward to 12.

MMMM I can't think of any other movies right now but I am sure I will soon.

I heard one of the movie critics say that this Catwoman has nothing to do with the Batman one. It is not associated it all with that. I, like you, only knew Catwoman from the Batman series. Not sure why they would do this movie and have the name be the same if it were not related to them.

I never saw the Rat Pack version of Ocean's Eleven. My dad did, he liked it. I would like to see it, mostly to see the differences and where they got the inspiration for the modern day one. And I think it would be good to see some of the old actors who have died now.

21 Grams - my best friend knows some of the actors and she raved about the movie. I liked it, but it is different and not for everyone. It does make you stop and wonder though how our lives intersecting with others and the outcome of it.

Benicio del Toro is a great actor. I am becoming more aware of it the more I see him. He is one of those actors that you love to watch but you usually don't think of and he is usually the supporting actor rather than the leading actor.

I loved him in The Hunted. I had the movie Unusaul Suspects and didn't even realize that that was him in it until I rewatched it. I started to watch Traffic one time, he won the Oscar for that, but I fell asleep. I have been told that I need to watch it again but not when I am tired and just got off work!

Hi Woody!

At the risk of angering everyone, I have to say that I thought The Passion of the Christ was the equivalent of Christian porn. A truly vile movie. Anyone who takes a child to see that movie should be flogged. And bible-thumpers everywhere are doing just that. I have never understood Christian's obsession with the suicide of their god. And crucifixes are obscene.
Yep, I'm going to hell. And I'm taking you all with me.

Mutt, as you know I am pretty open and am glad anyone wants to pop in and share what they want to share in the room.
You have the right to think the way you want to think and you also have the right to believe or not believe. That is your right.
I agree with you that anyone who would take a child to see this movie is wrong. I also know this movie was rated "R" and that Mel and the movie theathers were told NOT to allow children to see this movie. If they got children in to see this movie - it was wrong and was not something that Mel or most Christians I know disapproved. So you and many are in agreement about children seeing this film.
Your comments about Christian's obsession about the suicide of their god - well those are your thoughts and feelings and again you have the right to share them. However, I would ask you to please do not put down people for their faiths. No matter what it is. Be it Christian, Jewish, Buddist or whatever. If you do not believe.. I will respect your feelings, but please do not put others down for their beliefs. When I created this room, I created it for people to come here and enjoy a friendly place and to have a good time. But to slam someone for what they believe, I do not go for and I ask you very nicely and politely to not do. The one thing I do not want to do is turn this room into a place where people fight and aruge and put others down.
Thank you.

It was not my intention to condemn anyone for their beliefs, just to say that I didn't understand them. My mouth is often too smart for my own good, like a certain favorite detective of mine.
I agree that Gibson has been very responsible about informing people about the film before they see it, but I have heard numerous radio and TV preachers (admittedly not the finest examples of their kind) preaching that it was a parent's duty to make sure their child saw the film. The showing I attended was packed with children, from toddlers to teens. I shudder to think of the conversations that took place afterward:
"Mommy, why did they kill that man?"
"Because you are a sinner, honey."

Nuff said, from me anyway. But how could anybody not like Pulp Fiction!?!

No Problem

I just don't want it to turn into a bashing thing. I hate the bashing of any group.

As far as Pulp Fiction... it was ok. I just said I would not rank it one of my best or favs.
