Spenser's Irish Pub

Afternoon folks

It is a wet and rainy day. I am a bit under the weather myself.
Not sick but yesterday as I was doing some work around the place, I think I threw my back out big time. My shoulders and neck as well as my lower back is just killing me. I went to the Chiro on Friday and maybe I did too much too soon. Being that I am no longer in my 30s... I guess I am going to have to learn to pace myself and take it easy, which is what I am doing today.

I guess our topic of movies has kind of run down, so I am asking you all, what would you like to talk about? This is a place to come and just air out your thoughts and feelings. Most of you know from my past posts that I am kind of a deep person. Not that I am trying to be that. I am kind of a mixed bag to be honest.
When I was younger I kept to myself and was a cartoonist and did all kinds of drawings and such. I also discovered my love for reading and had a rather large library of books - over 300. Then when I was in my teens I discovered I was musical. I love music and I loved to sing. I taught myself guitar and played and sangin in clubs for 4 yrs. I sang some of the folk pop that was big in the 60s and 70s. I got tired of the bars and stopped doing it and focused many years in radio as an DJ. I love music and have a huge collection. Over 2000 and that is not even the LPs.
I am out of radio, except for a bit of voice work from time to time and to be honest I am thinking of going back into singing and music. For a job I am a computer tech.
So for those of you who do not really know me or knew me that well, now you have a background on me and if you care to ask questions or want to talk about anything... please.. just ask.
Hope you all have a good day and see you in the Pub.

Cool Spenser. So you are a singing computer nerd? lol. j/k. I love music. It has always been a something that I love. I can't be in my car without the radio blasting. At home I am usually too busy and there is not a radio convenient to be listening to while doing chores so tvs keep me company. I like Classic rock, some country, a little, I like Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and I like alot of the pop of today. Some things I have to be in the mood to listen to. I like jazz, when in the mood, and the same with country. I love Eric Clapton and could sit and listen to him playing guitar all day/night long. But his blues music I have to be in the mood for it or at least mix it with the other stuff. He has some great stuff.

I like, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Matchbox 20. Not really into all the techno stuff. I hate rap! I am a huge fan of American Idol. My son is a reality tv freak. He loves to watch just about all of them.

Hope you get to feeling better. Take care and have a great week. I have never had a job that I really loved and had a passion for it. If/when I ever find it. I think that would be so great to get up every day and go to work to do what I love!

Hello there Spencer

just back to help the thread count..

I dont think theres a special way to run an Irish pub..
Im from Ireland and they run over there just the same
as any other bar.. its the people that patronize the
pub that will make it or break it..

You might put up a dart board..
and have a sing along night..

apart from that learn to pour a proper
glass of guiness.

hugs

Good evening Spenser, can I have a cup of coffee please?

Its a cool rainy Sunday evening here, the sun has set, peaceful music playing and a candle at my side filling the room with wonderful scents.

Join me for a bit if you'd wish. I'll share the ottoman with you.

Hugs and kisses

Thanks for the good wishes. Yep I am a music freak. I loved my job in radio but with all the huge corporations taking over radio and firing people all over the US, I decided it was time to just get out. I am hoping to find that love again ... soon.

Welcome

It is so nice of you to join us. So you are from Ireland huh? Well my great grandfather was from Dublin. I have never been there but I would love to come and visit.
By the way I would love to get to know you better... Love to meet people from other countries.
And your AV is pretty awesome as well! ;)

Had to take a pain pill for my back and just have been taking it easy. Been in my easy chair and reading or watching tv. Checking the computer from time to time to see who is on and that is about it.
I know.. exciting huh? Getting old SUCKS! lol

Yea... don't I know it. I was on some meds that give me sore joints and now that I am off of the meds, I hope that I will start to feel better soon. Also according to my Chiro dr, I have lost over 50 pds in the last year and my body is having to adjust to it.

You lost over 50 lbs? Wow that is great! I wish I could lose some! It is so hard. I used to struggle but could get it to come off, now it seems like no matter what I do, I can't. However, I can't do those carb diets. I like my pasta, potatoes and bread!

I know what you mean but that is just what the doc had me do. Atkins. I went from 240 to 190 and my goal is 180. I am 5'11''.
The thing people do not understand about the atkins is that you do not get rid of breads and pastas for good. You do that for the first 2 weeks and then you SLOWLY add them back in and you find out where you limit is where you can stop without putting the weight back on. I am 3 days where I allow carbs back in and for the most point it is very low or no carbs the other days. I don't stick to it as close as I did but I have not gained either. Kind of stuck at 190-193. But it is sure better then 240-245.

That's great, good luck with losing the rest. My mom was a diabetic and she used to yell at me for trying all the different diets. She said that the best diet you can be on is the diabetic diet. Because you eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and snack. So you are always eating something to keep your sugar from losing and the main thing is choosing good foods and changing them up so that you don't get bored. We have never been able to eat much for breakfast. That was the hardest for her. The dr. told her to have a piece of toast, fruit and she HAD to have coffee. But she had a hard time dieting also. She LOVED ice cream! When she died they said that they thought she died of heart failure with diabetes and obesity contributing. They think she had a silent heart attack. She died in her sleep. They did not actually do an autopsy though, she died at my brother's house, because we had her body donated to science. She had always wanted to do that. I remember when I was a kid she lost about 100 lbs. she said that it was so hard, she was starving herself. She would get our dinner started and we would finish it and she would eat salads every day except one day a week she would eat whatever she wanted. Good night Spenser I will see ya in the morning. Turning in shortly!
