Star Craft 2 RP

zerg force??? oh about

200 zergling
50 Hydralisk
and 2 ultralisk

against....

36 Marines, 2 siege tanks (elevated so it's safe), Captain Blade, Lieutenant Stone, and 20 Volunteer Haven Security forces (Civilians with guns)

with

600 civilians...

who will win, i wonder... :)

And one undercover Marine who lives to kill Zerg LOL I think Haven will survive it....barely

Hm...the siege tanks can balance out the zerglings, while the others deal with the hydralisks and the ultralisks, plus whatever zerglings manage to get past the siege tank barrage. At least there aren't any mutalisks.

Hm...what is that one Protoss flyer from the original Star Craft that the Phoenix replaced, the one that could attack both ground and air targets like the Terran Wraith could?

Edit: Nevermind. Found it. The Scout.

If we have the weapons you can just give the civilians weapons and tell them to shoot. Hopefully they can kill a few of the Zerg. Hopefully the Ultralisks can be taken care of by the siege tanks otherwise we are kind of in trouble

My IC is up. Now I must head to bed. Do try not to get too far ahead of me, would ya?

Ouch Khan, you really like to make my life difficult it seems. :D

I'll wait for the next IC post. Think I have posted enough in one thread for one day LOL

complete change of story

i changed some stuff up... for the battle anyway

it will be 400 zerglings
150 hyrdalisk
6 ultralisk

vs.

32 marines
4 Terminator Siege Tanks
40 New Haven Security forces
Michael and Johnson (Both wearing prototype Ultra Marine Combat Armor)
299 Militia
1 Dominion Marine pretending to be militia (Gabe)

with 40 Marines and 5 Goliath (still have to check on the vehicles currently have) arriving in 2 hours

Let the battle of New Haven commence

sorry about my last post. it wasn't really my best, considering i had a major headache and was half-asleep... it was 4am in my defense

Is there a way to get my character into a suit? I know the militia won't have any suits just basic body armor.

Just a note DK, Sword's Cerebrate isn't in control of the Zerg on Haven nor is it even on Haven.

And I would suppose that in order for him to get a suit, your character would have to go through "basic" training with the rest of the recruits.

Ah OK thought that the Cerebrate is like an Overmind and can reach out to all Zerg. I'll edit that part then.

I mean during the battle, maybe a marine can get killed but his suit left in a working condition? If that isn't possible it's also OK with me, no big problem

I'm sure that a Cerebrate can control Zerg forces across stars, but only if they had previously established control. I doubt that the Cerebrate had Agria's moon had done that with any Zerg beyond those on that moon.

It could be possible for a Marine do die and leave the suit mostly intact, but good luck removing the body. As seen in the intro movie/trailer to SC2, the suit is pretty much built around the person's body, with parts of it actually being inserted into the body itself. Of course, that whole inserted into the body thing is probably done only to convicts recruited to be Marines. As for those who aren't convicts, like Jim Raynor and probably your character, the suit can be removed as necessary, although not without some help.

Hmmmm OK now that makes it interesting. Could he get help from other marines because they need to have another operating suit? My excuse will be that it is the same as the excavation suits I worked with and that I'll be able to help

So the Cerebrates can't actually reach out to other colonies. Not to control them but to kind of "scan" them, to find out more about the hive and so one?

Have you seen the trailer for SC2? If you haven't, watch it. You'll understand the suit a lot better, and know what I mean about getting help with putting it on. Here's the YouTube link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7d5XheWiBk

They can reach out to other colonies to control the Zerg there, but only if allowed by other Cerebrates or Kerrigan. But yes, they can also get a vague idea of the other colony just by reaching out, but to get any real ideas about other places or to detect cloaked or burrowed units, they'd have to have an Overlord there.

So it can be possible to pick up that "scan" of a Cerebrate if you are sensitive enough to it. That is basically what I had in mind, that he could pick up the "scan" but doesn't know where it comes from.

I watched the movie, it doesn't make it impossible to field strip the suit if you have the right equipment on hand. So maybe a Marine tech can help Thorn with that?

Yeah, you could field strip the suit with the right equipment, but then the question would be how long would it take?

As for Gabe picking up a sense of the Cerebrate on Agria while he's on Haven...that's getting into Ghost territory, and not just any Ghost - Kerrigan-level Ghost. But sure, the principle behind it is sound.

I actually have a plan for why he can sense the Zerg and why he has the irrational hate for them. Just not sure if it can work. Maybe I should run it past you StarCraft gurus and see what you think of it :D

I'd write it off as the fact that he's fought and survived against the Zerg so much that he just knows, almost as if the Zerg leave behind a bad vibe that he picks up on. Kinda like how soliders during WWII knew when the enemy was near even when the enemy couldn't be seen.

So a secret Dominion project to merge Zerg and human DNA that ended up with Thorn being injected with nanobots that would control the Zerg DNA's growth yet leave him open to being sensitive to Zerg presences would be a bit far fetched?

Um...yeah. There's even a mention in the game of trying to deal with Zerg DNA, which turns out to be next to impossible to counter. Sure, you could analyze the DNA, figure out what's there, but defending against its spread is a nigh impossible task because it mutates so quickly. You could program the nanobots to recognize and attack certain strains of DNA, but that DNA would mutate so that strain is no longer recognizable by the nanobots.

So, an alternative to your idea would be that Gabe has low level psyhic abilities that allow him to sense the presence of Zerg, but not do much else beyond that.

So then the best would be that he became "attuned" to the Zerg. OK great that one is sorted out then.

Also that if Thorn does show a lot of promise in that marine suit would it not be possible for him to be recruited into the Marines? Seeing that they do need new recruits and that they will probably lose quite a few in the battle for Haven.

Oh sure, of course he'd get recruited. Maybe not drafted, but recruited for sure. Hell, all he really has to do is show that he can kill things with that gun and survive. Those are pretty much the only prereqs for becoming a Marine: know how to handle a gun and survive to be recruited.
