I'm not sure what you're saying. I tend to see an adult site as not being the place to make friends. Sure, we can chat with others, but so what? We can hook up, but so what? It's not an ideal place for friendship. Many people can't or won't give much personal info, which makes it hard to develop any meaningful relationship. For example, take married men. It's a tie between not enough info or too much. You know what it's like to hook up frequently with a married man and he refuses to use first names? Like if he uses your name, he makes you real. For me, I see no reason to talk to someone privately unless they already seem interesting based on what they posted out in the open or if it is questions or thoughts about something they or I posted.
Over the years I have met several people I met online and/or stayed in contact with some people on and off for decades.
A real name or adress, a face or knowledge about peoples day to day life may be off limits in some cases, but there still has to be some kind of actual personality behind the screen for me to want to spend time on them.
