When I was on the market, I would open new conversations with a series of rapid fire questions…. Movies, music, etc, mostly silly and playful. But I’d slip a ‘trump, yeah or nah?’ In there. The only response that really mattered, but I’d slip it in like it was just another question. Very telling, those responses. Kept me from wasting my time.

Maybe it's because I haven't been back that long and don't recognize usernames, so don't take this as gospel truth or anything, but it's interesting that people who don't seem to normally post in this forum have come out of the woodwork because of the title of the thread.

I can only speak for myself (obviously) but since the revamp of the site, and the more prominent ‘new posts’ option…. I tend to just click on new posts, and then open any that have a title that I find interesting. Rather than going directly to a specific forum, and staying there exclusively. I do manage to avoid the ‘political’ board because I have the most horrifying posters on ignore. While its not my first foray into this forum… it was, admittedly, the title and topic that drew me in.

Trying to put posters on "ignore" on that political forum is a pointless endeavor anyway, since the most toxic of them are almost continually creating new screen names to get around being banned. And also, many of them also use multiple screen names at the same time (for example "Chobham/HisArpy/Icanhelp1, etc." mentioned above) to hold sock-puppet "debates" (if you can even call them that) with other users.

People on this sub-forum can at least be respectable and have intelligent discussions, even when they might not align with you, at least they can intelligently explain and discuss their positions in a rational reasonable and logical manner.. And granted, there are still plenty of people on that other sub forum who are more than capable, mature, and rational enough to do so. But it's just...the White nationalist/far right trolls there seem to have far too much sway and the admins can't seem to do much about it.

Yup, I think it was a bad move to ban politics from the GB. A lot of people who used to post on political treads stay out of the politics board and those who are able to write something beyond the usual talking points are drowned out when every thread devolves to the same voices yapping the same things whatever the topic.

I was very active on the GB when that happened. Very few people were even asking for a split. The best strategy to enjoy the GB is to put several users on ignore. It’s a whole different forum without them. I also put the pic thread starters on ignore as an unmoderated pic thread is definitely not for me.

I haven’t posted much there because it moves too fast and in the wrong time zone, but there are threads and people I’ve enjoyed reading.
My Swedish Internet Home was also a very free speech pornboard not that unlike the GB but I still ignore a lot of picture thread starters and others who can fill up the front page with things that don’t interest me.

Well, to be clear...there are a lot of pro-regime spam bots/trolls acting on behalf of the Putin government, trying to stir up crap on the internet and sway public opinion, in some cases by blatantly posting pro-Russia/anti-Ukraine propaganda, and by sowing seeds of dischord in the democratic process. (One poster on these boards, screen name Renard Ruse, has already been outed as such by others on the forums.) I wouldn't mess with that either. These are not reflective of the Russian people, but rather are on the Kremlin's payroll. It's called, psychological and information warfare.

There are millions of good people in Russia; decent hard working, Both dominant and submissive, men and women. I suspect a large percentage are not at all down with what their government is doing. Just like there are decent, moderate economic conservatives (small government, less regulation, fiscal responsibility, etc) who identify as Republicans. On that note, I voted today, and I should mention that I voted for candidates from both parties. Rest assured, however, that NONE of those who I voted for were endorsed by the previous American president. For what it's worth.
