Stranded on an island (Three things)

So I have no real home. I was/am homeless. I asked a certain nameless lister a random question, and her answer shocked me. Totally not what I expected.

So the premise of this game is simple. You are stranded on a tropical island. Your ship is going down, and you know there is an tropical island nearby. You can take ANY three things you want. What would they be?

Backpack and machete are good, I would grab the rifle or shotgun that's on the bridge and stuff all the ammo into the backpack.

Survival instincts..Water, food, shelter. I would take as much fresh water as I could carry, Machete ( to be used in attaining food and creating a shelter) and the thickest, heaviest blanket available. (ps) whomever grabs the matches or lighter I want to buddy-up with you

The machete or any good knife combat or locking blade. A lighter or fire starting block. And rope preferably 550 cord 500 feet of it. Being through a few survival classes helps way more than a book or a movie. Being through a survival experience, for me is the best preparation one can have.

Food for thought you can distal water.ammo runs out. 550 cord can act as a bow string, snare, tow line, or hold a shelter together. Tropical storms bad.

The aforementioned backpack would be nice, but I'll take my purse with it's contents. I seriously have everything in there. And a raft, because I want to make it to the island. And a satellite phone. Because after a couple weeks, the beach is gonna get old. (I have sunscreen in my purse.)

This is an excellent question, and I'm surprised it hasn't gained more traction. I had to sit here and give it some thought.

Despite living in the Bible Belt, I never carry any weapons. My knife is a small pen knife I use to open boxes at work. No joy there.

My phone would be useless for obvious reasons.

So:

1) My eyeglasses

2) My lighter

3) A pair of sturdy shoes. If you don't recognize the importance of a good pair of shoes, ask John McClane.

Snuggle partners are a must.

I can only take three things, but by how everyone is responding makes it sound like three things I can carry. Soooooo, I would fold up a blanket, grab a lighter and some flint(for when the lighter fluid runs out), get a container with a lid and fill it with water, rope, a knife and a sharpening stone and put them all in the backpack! Then I would take the backpack, a tarp which I would wrap around the backpack to help keep it dry getting to land so therefore don't have to carry it and now can take two more things. Since I wouldn't have to carry a raft, I would use that and it would have at least one oar in it. Now, I would put in my tarp wrapped backpack, and two more containers, one of them would have water and the other would have food. The one with the food would be metal so I could use it to cook also.

Well if I'm bringing you and a towel I'll grab the 550 cord too... Never know what uses there are for rope. So I don't see why you can't hold three things too.if I'm doing the swimming for both of us you should make it count. Nods

Not that I'm good at sharing cuddle partners.(at all) but maybe we should partner up with some of these other survivors... The raft is a good way to get things to shore. Or we could take one of the life boats. They normally have rations, water, flares, and beacons...but the boat and contents would technically be one item.
