Right, I've googled some more and I'm pretty sure the term parrot head refers to fans of Jimmy Buffett!

Until 2 minutes ago I had never heard of him, but his album covers tell me enough....you should be ashamed :p

No, seriously, I'm even more intrigued now. I feel like I'm in scooby doo or something with a big mystery to uncover...
For example
Why exactly you're called parrot heads still eludes me.
And why hawaii?

I'm going to go to the library tomorrow and see if they've got anything by him.

One thing I did find out is this

"I feel that most Parrot Heads are non-conformists. Out of all the causes available, Parrot Head-ism seems to be one these people can affectionately embrace." someinternetguy

Which does warm me to parrotheads somewhat, would you say this was true of you, snowy? Is it an eccentrics thing, like being a cliff Richard fan is over here? I'm getting the impression its quite an American phenomena or else, why haven't I heard of him? (not that I'm an expert by any means but I do think I know quite a lot about music.)

This has been quite fun! Man, I need a job, and fast!!!

giggling madly!

I don't know why we're called parrot heads, but yes, I have the non-conformity thing down. I just like Jimmy Buffet. They're mellow, laid back and fun to just sip a rum punch to while you dream of sail boats and sands between your toes. He's also funny, and sometimes mushy in a down to earth way. One of my favorite tunes is "Stars Fell On Alabama." Or "If the Phone Don't Ring, It's Me." Or maybe "Coconut Telegraph".

I am a deadhead myself, which is no secret, but for most of the same reasons. nothing better than to spend an evening with some mellowed out, laid back deadheads.

I took a friend to a dead show, which was his first concert. I suggested he walk around the perimeter of the arena. He came back after an hour and said, "There are people out there dancing....and when the music stops--they don't!"

Scary prospects, and to be honest I don't think a psyche ward would have helped me.

Psych wards seem more about helping everyone else.

Jimmy Buffet writes mostly laid-back relaxed slightly calypso sounding songs about the slow easy beautiful life in the Florida Keys. Not sure there is a Hawaii connection there, but I might be wrong.

He also writes some very funny songs. Once he had some trouble on the road with an idiot driver with road rage and afterwqards he wrote a wonderful tune about it:

"Were you born an asshole?
Or did you work at it all your life?
Either way it's Ok
Because you're an asshole tonight."

Thanks for the info, tainted. I have ordered his cd from the library so I will let you know what I think.

He sounds sort of like randy newman but calypso. I'm looking forward to hearing it. Maybe then I will be a parrothead too. Or maybe not. We'll see! Glad I could make you giggle anyway!

/jimmy buffet hijack!

Sometimes helping everyone else is the best way to help yourself, I've found.

Having said that, most of them are shitholes.

Ok, I finally thought of a 'secret' that I don't mind telling.

The sound of the toilet flushing in the middle of the night scares me to death. Don't know why, it just does, always has.

Is it bad that I found this an inviting prospect?

Since you and snowy seem to be looking for... no, inviting... a punishment, I will have to call on Ma'am to take charge of that, if She is so inclined.

I'm not able to punish.... so sorry, ladies. ;-)

That is an appropriate reaction. LMAO.

I'm sure Ma'am would agree.

I always feel rather like a bird fascinated by a cat around Shadowsdream.. I know she's dangerous (in a good way), but I want to come close and chance it anyway. ;)

No no, that's okay ADR... I'd rather just wait til I meet Her someday and ask politely for a beating (if I can get the words out! Damn you terminal shyness!), then go the whole punishment route! I get almost the same feeling as Sunny... Like a wee little mousie under the eyes of an owl or something properly raptorial.
