Good morning everyone.

Happy Belated Mothers day to all the fabulous moms :)

Thank you. :rose:

Mother's Day was crazy. I saw a partially formed tornado for the first time. About three properties over from ours and headed right at us was a rotating white mass that seemed to rise from the ground rather than drop from the sky. There was a sound with it, like a semi truck barreling down the road, but it was brief. Just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished. We were struck with high winds, but that was it. I only caught the last part over my shoulder as I was hightailing it into the hall bathroom, where three overly excited dogs were begging to be freed. What a day!

Good morning everyone!

Mercedes - glad that worked out with no mishap! I'm sure it's a sight you will never forget.

It does sound like you had quite a bit of excitement although maybe not the preferred type of excitement.

Glad it all turned out well :)

Mercedes.. Glad you are safe! Drying up a bit out there? Gotta love this sunshine!

Thanks, everyone. So glad that it dissipated before it hit us.

Yeah, the sunshine is helping a little, Sunbunny. Although, we have a long way to go before we can swap the galoshes for sandals.

Same way here! Glad I don't have to trek out into the mush with a dog. The ground out back is saturated.

Glad things are OK. We had a heavy rain this morning and our ground is saturated.

Never seen a tornado here. But twice (different years) we had straight-line winds that snapped trees trunks. Neither time did a tree hit our home. We are fortunate.

So glad you are doing OK.

Well the rain made it to Houston, but a slight break in the action I think for now.

Hope everyone made it through Monday without too much stress :)

Wonderful day here today! So far anyway. Haven't checked the forecast for this evening but looks like clouds are rolling on in again.

Unusual Bird

The other day I had an unusual bird in my back yard. I have determined that it was a Crested Caracara. This large bird stood a foot or more tall and its wingspan was probably twice that. We have red-tail hawks, owls, and turkey vultures, so I am accustomed to seeing large birds, but this was different.

These birds range from the northern end of South America, through Central America and into parts of Texas. Central Texas appears to be about the northern end of their range.

I concur! I'm somewhat of a birder, and just encountered one of these myself a few months ago. Also known as the Mexican Eagle. They are so beautiful - this would have totally made my day! Thank you for sharing!!! :)

Quiet Hangover Sunday in here. I guess everyone's worn out from the weekend.

Good morning Texas!
Had a nice sunny day yesterday, more rain expected today. Got that one last tax return done last night and ready to mail out to my sister. :D It is really nice to have my dining room table back. One more day of work and I'll be off for a couple!

Houston we have RAIN.

It is a good thing as it washes away all the pollen.

Hope everyone enjoys their morning :)

Morning all.

One more time, everybody be safe out there today. Like Cole said...the rain has touched Houston and it makes that crazy commute just a bit more difficult. It's almost like people are trying to watch each individual drop fall rather than drive.

Would be a great day to be home with the Mrs. However, work calls, duty calls. These numbers are not going to align themselves.

Plenty of rain here..

Austin is continually dripping it seems. A bit to the north they got 5".

Of course that makes it a good idea to stay in and give a few more than that... :D
