The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

A couple of years ago, I googled a former boss to see if he was dead. He wasn't, not yet, but perhaps he wished he was. He was always basically a preppy - a rich kid pussy - and a raging know-it-all asshole. Anyway, he was dating a lawyer, which takes a lot of st000pid and arrogance. Landlubber Boi takes her sailing. They hit a storm somewhere down south and he basically tied her up - in his control freaking manner - to keep her outta the way, his words. She sued him for some kind of wrongful restraint. The case was here for something that happened there, and I have no idea how that works, but whatever. She lost, so I hope she hired ninjas to get retribution.

Preppies shouldn't sail . . . .
My boss sails. She is a lawyer.... she is pretentious

My early years I spent a lot of time on the Great Lakes some of it on research boats and others sailing. On a calm peaceful afternoon there is nothing like being out on the big lake. But when the winds pick up and storm clouds approach it’s time to get the hell off the lake. Novices don’t know when to leave for port. That’s who get hurt.
I’ve only been out on the Great Lakes twice. Once the some island in Lake Erie near Cedar point. Uneventful.

But that fishing trip I described about a week ago was something else!

Wat is shooping for a single axle dump truck. One is appealing. It has one grand flaw: the blue oval of Fail graces its grille. At least it has a Cat engine . . . .
I might be looking for the same for my firewood business. I fantasize of quitting my job and selling firewood full-time…

But then there’s my back.

And food.

Mortgage.

Health insurance.

Goddamnit!😂

I need to be able to give Bo a ride in case (I amused myself) I get some Bo work. Plus hauling gravel and sich. And going for used utility poles. I will be needing a couple of trailers. One I might build

Sailing. One of those endeavors that was freedom and adventure for a those of past generations. A way of life before they switched from sails to steam (to borrow a line from Jimmy Buffet,) and even paid the bills on the Chesapeake for oyster men sailing the Skipjacks till the late ‘70’s.

I learned to sail on small Sunfish and Hobie Cat’s that littered the beaches when I was growing up. If you were out you could ask for a ride and nobody ever refused. When I was stationed in Germany we vacationed on Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria. I sailed a 7m boat that was supposedly owned by Herman Goering.

Now you have to belong to a yacht club or just grow up around sailors. For us dreamers it’s a trap! There is so much you have to learn, especially if you want to do any blue water sailing. I should say you better know!

Here’s a tell. Compare a 40’ used powerboat to a similar sailboat. The price difference will shock you. So many people (dreamers like me) run out and buy one on a whim and then realize how much work and upkeep and knowledge it takes to sail the damn thing…and the used market is glutted!

What’s the old adage? If you want to sail, find a friend who owns a boat!🤣

These vessels were used to harvest oyster out of the bay. Right through the Carter administration. Now they’re just relics that sail in regatta’s out of Annapolis and Baltimore. They have beautiful lines though!

Looked at the temperatures, we had 4F this morning.

And later the sun was shining bright. I walked by a window, and was thinking "Where is all this heat coming from?". Then I realized it's the sunshine I haven't see for a month hitting me! Silly northerner, the sun is warm! :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, I Hope you all have a great rest of your day today.

My grandfather was a huge fan of a dead rise. He did have a point. He also had a dead rise for a while when he was a young man.
