The local pronunciation here is Aay-ster or awe-ster…My dad pronounced oyster, “ersteh.”![]()

Welcome aboard. Good crowd of bubba’s and Babette’s here. Go allllll the way back to page #1 and peruse the very first post. That lays all the ground rules out. Other than that jump right in.Hi everyone...figured I would say hi. It sounds like this thread is about my speed. 53, boring old married fella living in Philly. Looking forward to joining the convo!
Congrats to Momma! Wife's been clear for 5 years, I'm just starting my journey, it happens. Is this an actual pic, or something from AI?The local pronunciation here is Aay-ster or awe-ster…
********MOMMA IS CANCER FREE!********
Took her to the oncologist yesterday and got the good news! Very relived! We took the last of the nut cake to my uncle and spent some time with him. He gave us the thumbs up of approval so after all these yeas we might havre finally nailed the old recipe down.
Had some lunch down at the beach and all in all had a great day. Hope all made it through Monday…it was a good one for us!

Could be? The pix I poached for the snow villages didn’t give names. I usually try and give credit where it’s due, but sometimes they don’t show the town names. This looks like Leavenworth! It's a little Bavarian-like town in central WA. They have Christmas pretty much year round there!![]()
I think it’s a real pix…but I wont vouch for it 100%. I try to post real stuff but have been fooled before!Congrats to Momma! Wife's been clear for 5 years, I'm just starting my journey, it happens. Is this an actual pic, or something from AI?
I showed her your snow villages and she LOVED it! Especially the ski hill!Thank you, H!There's more here, as your Momma well knows! From one Christmas Queen to another, give her my love!

About ten yrs ago, mid summer, I was waiting on an airline home.My wife reported to me that she and her best friend have confessed to each other, that they're growing tired of Hallmark Christmas shows. It's the end of times, I used to get the cold shoulder when I made casual fun of their themes-- - -"Will they be making snow-angels? Do actors in HM shows have to know how to ice skate? How many cookie recipes do they have to know to star in a HM movie?" I'm not even scratching the surface on repeated themes.
5/17 Cav in Korea11th ACR (armored cavalary regiment)!
I was in the 12th cav.
That is a Sheridan M551 tank. An old timer!
@HumpDayHoratio - were you in 11th cav? I can’t remember…

We're on Afternoon Tea across the pond.Good morning all! Who is coming for breakfast. Pancakes will be done soon![]()
Because the boil the water. YuckI am a flapjack and sausage rolls snob.
(Only because we have wonderful tea shops in quaint little English villages where the above mentioned items provide my grading standards!)
Bigger towns, of course, have identical high streets with all the usual coffee shop chains.
Important question: Why does Starbucks coffee taste so bad?
Fortunately he goes back to sleep within a half hour.Mine slept right through the 3am meeting. Little bugger...
Great news. I am happy for you and your mom.The local pronunciation here is Aay-ster or awe-ster…

Laughing b/c the year I studied in Scotland I would sometimes get pulled out of my 8am class for a phone call... 99% of the time it was friends... just getting home from the pubs in the USIt's 8.15 in the UK. Good morning!
Mmm, okayI suspect that, in this case, that "date" means "fuck."
I'm so sorry, @Wonderer67He is better but not good. Much stronger. This time was 10 days in the hospital and now off to a rehab again. He should be placed in a rehab today or tomorrow….
Poor guy has been thru the ringer…
Welp - you'll need a transport order in there somewhere, tooI always thought Leavenworth was a military prison!
Just found out it Christmas there year round. I’m going! What can I do to get thrown into the clink!?
I'm a sucker for a good story!I wouldn’t mind knowing either…
I’m not sayin I’m just sayin….
Reminds me of this glorious gem:Morning everyone!View attachment 2582354
Damn my eyes... glanced too fast
TIL -Just imagine going into a meeting with potential investors and pitching the scripts for some of these shows. My favorite is writing the original idea down to pitch the Spongebob Show.
From what I've seen/read... sausage rolls are a big deal in the UKI am a flapjack and sausage rolls snob.

Well, would you look at that... I was pretty spot on.I recall a conversation I had with a business acquaintance about Starbucks coffee. He investigated their roasting process and learned they roasted too long almost burnt. The beans they used were bitter. So burnt bitter beans means awful coffee which is why they add so much cream and sweets to cover the taste of the coffee.
Disclaimer: I am a coffee snob! All my coffee comes from local roasters that use smooth not bitter beans.
Thought I would share another of one of the boys doing the day job yesterday.

My two cents:I showed her your snow villages and she LOVED it! Especially the ski hill!
She is sick she can’t set up her snow villages (she inherited a couple from two sisters plus what she’s collected) this year. Two reasons…she physically can’t do it this year and a very inquisitive two yr old is living with her! I thought about just setting it up myself, but might punt on that…
I toured a large Starbucks roasting plant located in our county about 15 years ago, and the smell of burnt coffee beans permeated the place. The roasting ovens came from Italy, and new, bigger ones were enroute to be installed.I recall a conversation I had with a business acquaintance about Starbucks coffee. Such smart and strong boysThought I would share another of one of the boys doing the day job yesterday. The bray face is almost vertical so without them a lot of birds would never be found let alone picked and put in the bag.
