They hibernate down south too. I read once that something triggers like an antifreeze in their blood that allows them to survive until spring. When the first warm spring rains come, they overrun roads getting to ponds. The sounds at night can be deafening. I hope spring comes in March.

I retired from my work with ASTM International. It is a Technical book publisher based in Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA. I was senior editor for 23 years. I'm married to my beautiful wife of for 48 years (she's 68) but she's very handicapped, and I'm her caregiver now.

Well, all good things come to an end, it seems. Got a decent recess from Teh Job over the last 2.5 weeks. Tomorrow is back at it. I'm conjuring an end date to all of this shit, and I don't know if it will be a This Date kind of thing or a These Results kind of thing. Maybe some amalgamation of the two. To be determined. Since they don't let me be as In Charge as I was told I would be, and since we have whiners I cannot terminate (choose your own definition), and since I cannot fix/change/control either of these conditions, it's kinda looking like a hurry-up-get-it-done thing to speed departure. Besides, Opportunity awaits Out West, as there appears to be a freer way of supplementing/increasing the income stream. Wats have to eat, yanno.

My 2 cents....

I just decided to retire from the sh*t show I work in..... 33 years plus and as AI encroaches I see the changes daily. A customer cannot reach a human when calling...... the first 3 layers of discussion are with untrained employees. My technical skill and knowledge is about 50 minutes away from the calling customer.
WTK is all I can say.

I realized that not only do I have a small farm to whip into shape...... I got many other things to do and grand sons to tutor on hunting. camping, and arrowhead hunting etc. BTW the grandsons are known as the Pancake Assassins....

There are Anvils and Poodles to tend I believe which means there is way more fun out west. I would suggest leaving sooner than later.... Time does not stop passing.

Really hard to get photos of. We have those massive lake effect flakes coming down right now. Over an inch across, you can see the lumps in the snowbank. Probably 4" of accumulation in 45 minutes. The stuff falling is way bigger than the photo shows.

My first car did this to me. Found a contraption that was dash-mounted and ran off the cigarette lighter. Point it toward the windshield until it thaws out and you can see... then flip it around and have it blow on you to thaw you out. Got me through the last winter in that car until I could replace it.

I literally was swearing my head off at this set of wiper blades this afternoon.
They come with NINE different sets of instructions, depending on how the wiper arm was designed.
There are 6 different adapters to make these wipers fit these 9 set of combinations!

Not one word is used in the instructions, it's all hieroglyphic pictographs...

My son made some comments on my driving that made me think I might have some senior moments. I may need to hang up my taxi duties. If so, I can help my grandkids in other ways.

I’m not in UP cold, but I feel used to this weather now. It was 30° yesterday and today and felt kind of, well… warm.

We will get to high 40s by end of the week. My pumpkins from last year or frozen in ice… but the thaw will allow me to get them, and next weekend is the date of the pumpkin massacre where will shoot them and smoosh them for next years seeds.

Do you roast any of them? I use roasted pepitas in my bread.

We were at 10F this morning, but it looks like it's going to warm up again. Probably should clean up the powder that fell yesterday and last night. Warm air on fluffy snow makes a mess.
