The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

What allergies attack your sinuses this time of year? I have to wait till spring.
My list of allergies is this:

Is it alive and not an animal? It could be anything, but the most likely culprit are the downed pine branches from a wind storm. I react as strongly to pine as I do to histamine. Also, I have been teaching that nee client to cut wood with a laser and I react to the smoke depending on the wood. He wanted to burn all this exotic shit.

I am reminded of Ghostbusters and Dr. Egon Spengler famously states his hobby is collecting "spores, molds, and fungus"
I am lucky mold is not one of my allergies living here in FLA it is everywhere.
I love egon. I just assume trees because my dumb ass lives in a pine forest and I am HELLA allergic. Could be fungal spores. I am allergic to those, too

Who is good at resumes
Down load the chatgpt app and use an email to log into it with. On the top left early in the day of your searches find the GPT's links. Search for resume. Upload yours. It will tell you how to fix it and why it suggested the changes. You can ask it questions about its responses too.
I say early in the day of your searches as after you use it a while it will tone down to a slower processor and give shorter responses. Unless you pay for it. I did not find a job but I feel good about my resume.

How did that work for ya
Pretty good. 8 tablespoons of different peppers, melt the snot right outta my face.

When I lived 8n a place where I could get ethnic food that isnt a burrito or pizza, I would get the family sized Thai soup, and would tell the staff in mandarin that I am not afraid of peppers. Why mandarin? I have an uncle that teaches it. I know it isnt the right language, but it gets the point across that i am not some dumb gringo who is gonna be "ooo, that's too hot!"

That big bowl of soup and a whole stack of napkins and I was alright for a day or so after.

There is a Top Gear episode where the lads come to the States and interview Jay Leno. For those across the pond, he’s sort of the Jeremy Clarkson of US teevee…or was. Anyhoo…

He was talking about how horses are the most exalted and worshiped animal in the US…due in large part I image because of Hollywood. He went on to explain how this wasn’t always the case here. Horses were just another beast of burden especially around the turn of the century. We traded and sent them off to the glue factory at the first sign of sick, lame, or laziness.

Let me go to the SOAK (source of all knowledge) and see if that clip is still in the eathernets…

Couldn’t find it…this is a job for @likes2watchU
Jay Leno is less hangry than Clarkson. 😀

Here's what I could find -
The quote was apparently in Season 1 Episode 5 "Beasts of Burden" of "Jay Leno's Garage" not Top Gear. There is no active, current link of that episode online that I could find.

AI gave me a summary - but it may be having a stroke 🤨

The video you are looking for is a specific segment titled "Beasts of Burden" (Episode 105) from the first season of the Jay Leno's Garage television series on CNBC.

While the Knight XV was featured in a web segment around 2011, the specific philosophical commentary you're describing about horses comes from this later TV episode. In it, Jay Leno delivers a monologue explaining that for thousands of years, horses were merely tools used for heavy labor and war. He argues that the invention of powerful mechanical "beasts" (like the Knight XV and fire trucks) performed the "burden" so well that it effectively liberated horses, allowing them to become the revered, beloved animals of sport and companionship they are today.

Best I could do was find this much watered-down quote on YouTube:

James May and Jay Leno Review "The Future of Motoring" - Top Gear Classic
Channel: Top Gear Classic

The "chat" with Jay Leno starts @ 4:30 and the quote @ 5:30
The car being discussed in this video is the Honda Clarity

Assuming that the quote is truly from JLG S1E5... that originally aired in Nov. 2011 when NBC hosted the show. Well, NBC cancelled the show and Leno's been posting new segments on YouTube.

Thinking it's a rights (aka 💰) issue with the older, NBC videos.

I looked but could not find it hosted anywhere - not even where AI (that DAMF) said it would be:
Prime Video - expired rights, not available
YouTube - nope
PeacockTV - not listed in their "AtoZ Shows" list
Facebook - intro clip (did NOT include the quote)

I even tried the Way Back Time Machine without luck.

Somewhere…in a dusty attic…at either mommas or possibly my own house…I have every Calvin & Hobbes collection of books…somewhere…
I don't have them all... but I have enough when I need them 😁
So…would youI roll the dice and go and hope it buys goodwill? Sweat your ass off for one night? Or stand like a man, throw down the gauntlet and go throw darts, drink G&T’s, smoke cigars and have fun?

She’s pouting…I think you know my answer. 🙂

If I don’t return…you know what happened…

I have been really enjoying some Ryes over the last few years. Growing up it was all bourbon all the time, but I went to a whiskey bar up on the IL/WI line and this pretty little bartender was talking up the Ryes.

Rye just fits my palate. I can’t explain why, but I just like it.
Granddad was a Heaven Hill guy. Manhattan was his drink. I likely had rye in more than one Old Fashioned... but with all the other crap in there you'd never taste just the rye

Not enough HEPA Air Purifiers in the world for that kind of nonsense!!

I gave this a  but have been with the same employer since 1994. I'm so out of the game, if something happens I'm fucked!

Years ago there was a delicious Chinese Restaurant near where I lived called Szechuan Express. It was the only Chinese Restaurant I've ever seen with a drive-thru.

If I ordered over the phone and picked up at the drive thru, I would get my meal 5-star spicy.

If I ordered in-person at the counter, I would have a 5 minute discussion with staff wheedling a measely 3 star heat out of them. :ROFLMAO:

Damn - now I'm hungry for Szechuan Express.
Hmm... time to pivot with dinner?

It was fabulous while it lasted!
I cried when they closed.
First they closed their drive-thru and my orders were never the same.
Then they closed the whole place.
They had a second location across town - and I gave them a try. But different staff... food wasn't the same.

That is terrible. I suppose I should think about eating something
