The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Anybody seen Duleigh or HP around of late?

D's been pretty busy of late. His most recent appearance was a week ago with the dachshund stories, and there was a two-week gap before that. I wouldn't worry until he gives us cause to worry, VA clinic visits aside.

HP? Got me. Somebody here has IRL contact with him, so I guess they'll have to update if there are any updates to be had.

I'll email HP and see how he's going

I have been quite busy the past week with writing. Not much for my pen, but one must make money.

What's in the pot today?

Sometimes writing is just fun. I've had a little trouble making Zelda demanding without also making her whiny. Then I came up with this:

“Twenty minutes to wait, and I’m already bored.” She ran a long, blue fingernail along his jaw and turned its point up under his chin. “Grace thinks I should thank you. Maybe she should do that for me—then we can all be entertained.”

Doesn't seem whiny at all.

Last night I started re-writing one of my stories that got lost when an external HDD got soaked by a cleaner...

All I have left is some short little quotes in posts here on 'what are you writing' from 2 or so years ago, and my memory of the entire lost chapter.

I've been hung up on a little joke I had a guy tell my main character in flirting with her, that I just cannot remember. So after 2 hours staring at a page I finally gave up and moved forward.

No idea if I will get anywhere, but hopefully I can get a good story out of a 'rewrite from memory'.

I'm debating posting up a pile of unfinished work that was cloud backed up because now I'm a little freaked out about losing stuff... Might post it somewhere that lets me 'edit right away' and then once it's been in those places for a while decide what's worth keeping and finishing and what was 'left behind years ago' for good reason... :)

I once lost an epic novel to a disk crash. I didn't try to recall it, but I've used a lot of ideas from that work in later stories.

Some night you're going to wake up and remember that little joke. You just have to get it down before it goes away.

Excellent street party today. The weather couldn't have been more British, with overcast skies lapsing into a heavy shower just as most of the food was out, luckily just after a gazebo had been erected and was hastily put over the tables. Had glorious sunshine with scattered light drizzle for the next couple hours, and then it was sunny but a bit cold for the rest of the day. People outdid themselves with the food - there were five different platters of homemade sausage rolls and much more!

Poor delivery driver having to carry piles of parcels down the closed road was mollified with cake and canned cocktails.

I planted 54 seeds this afternoon: New Mexico Chiles, Jalapenos, Bell Peppers, and three varieties of tomato. I'm planting very late this year because otherwise our trip at the end of April would have been very poorly timed for seedling care.

Some of the seed packets contain the little line "To plant a seed is to believe in tomorrow." I thought that was cute.

i guess you don't want me to mention we are picking (now) zucchini, spaghetti squash, cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes soon (another couple of weeks probably). The poor eggplant is almost totally covered up by one zuc plant. Onions are almost ready and garlic is still blooming so waiting on both of those for a bit longer.

Day-lilies are almost thru blooming and zinnias re getting ready to start.

@Duleigh - Sandy misses morning coffee with you https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fstatic-ca-cdn.eporner.com%2Fphotos%2F742669_880x660.jpg&f=1&nofb=1&ipt=185cdbb59dadbac06065995bbe3c22b1f79db940c5fef21ff11b6e287b13eb1c

@Rustyoznail - glad the new cappuccino machine worked for you. You'll have to show me how to do it one of these days ...

There is a fresh pot of coffee going and the teapot is hot. There are various pastries on the counter for those who want a bite to eat.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story. I am almost to the point where the hot and heavy sex scene gets written. Yeah!

G'morning, all. The tornado sirens are interrupting my train of thought here. Fortunately it's the first Tuesday at 1000 hours, so time for the monthly test. It still gets one's attention.

Let's see... coffee... thank goodness the old regular pot remains functional. Never understood the cappuccino thing. Drip coffee brewed quietly, black, and in my cup. [...sip...] Perfect.

Busy, busy day, so why I'm on the forum here is beyond me. Bunch of piddly errands that can't wait until tomorrow are punctuating my day, and I need to have everything done with by 2:30. At that point I need to run to the local U-Haul depot to pick-up the truck I reserved and start that half of my day - schlepping the percussion section and two carts of music stands for tonight's orchestra concert. I'm the orchestra manager, and as I was joking to a friend yesterday, also: chief roustabout, truck driver, principal tuba, and principal oboe. Do the trumpet players ever lift a finger? Nope. Well, maybe one.

TTU guys late tonight.

Panic city yesterday! A reader emailed me early in the morning and said "I went to go get your latest book but there was nothing there."

'Silly reader!' I thought. Obviously he typed in the web address to my book site. I'll just copy the address and email it to..........

SHRIEK!!!!!!

I just stared at the screen then I double checked the web url... then I began to hyperventilate.
WHAT THE FRACK? (and worse) The hours of work in those books! I am on Smashwords and B&N and other sites but this was my breadbasket, my #1 sales site... I NEED A NEW HAM RADIO!!!! It's a conspiracy... an alien conspiracy. No - It's the CIA! I've been getting too close. I know, I'll start all over, I'll get a new account with a unique user name - Doolie. Yeah, that'll work. I'll just change out the covers of my epubs, change the book names and post them again.

Then my publisher reached out to me - the owner of bookapy.com moved me and my books to
zbookstore.com for... "reasons" (Probably IRS reasons). Whatever. I got moved and now I have to rebuild my reputation on a new store.

Poop

@MillieDynamite - has this happened to you yet?

Donnie's birthday is Saturday, and he wants to go to the Grandparents for the whole weekend rather than the Grandparents coming here. So, I guess we're going home for the weekend. I don't care about the flavor, I don't care if it's K-Cup, drip, perked, French pressed, or vacuum made, I need a strong black cup of straight coffee!
