Begins taking off the ornate brass hardware and cleaning the wood to prepare for sanding.

Starting with 80 grit, he takes the old coat off, pushes it to 100 and rounds out the corners. Finally he smooths out the surface by finishing with 180 grit.

He then applies a pre-stain conditioner and waits with his Old Fashioned while it dries.

Nylonian then patch tests the walnut wood stain and applies a coat evenly.

I'll come back next day to seal off the staining once it dries. Don't rest anything on it for now.

As a boulderer, I get a lot of random bruises on my legs when I foot slip or miss a hold. So... I guess call me the king of bruises.

I hated it at first but I've come to embrace them as marks of progress.

Nice! My Wusthof's edge is in desperate need of attention! I even got a 400/2000 wet stone for Christmas but still haven't used it.
