The Crystal Kingdom

Arching his back, Garret leaned leaned down to pick up the rest of his stuff. The rest of it was placed with his knapsack. He took a cloth piece out, unfolding it. Taking a few pieces of jerky out he began chewing on his morning breakfast.
As he turned around he saw the lovely lady that brought all of this about. With a sarcastic smile he bowed.
"Well then, what do I owe the pleasure?" he stood up not quite looking at her, "What do you want to put a leash on me now?"

Ariana frowned at his skepticism. "Do stop with your mockery. I am not here to put a leash on you I am here to give you a more detailed history of the crystals so you may understand their nature. Please sit" she motioned to a couple of stones. She sat down and without waiting for him she began "The crystals were created hundreds of years ago long before the world was as it is now. Few species lived then, the gods roamed the planet. All of them one day decided they needed a home of their own. One away from everyone else and yet close. Thus Crystalia was created. The gods used magic to creat Crystalia which is why magical beings live there now. The Crystalians are a mix of elven and sorcerers. We were to be the divine beings and the gaurdians of this world. The gods knew they needed a back up plan. A security system if you will. So they created four towers. One at each corner of Crystalia. The Fire Tower, the Water tower , the Earth tower and the Wind tower. Within each tower the very essence of that element was kept. They couldn't just fit the whole thing in there so they put the essence into four crystals. Each crystal was assigned a gaurdian also known as a sage. You are the sage of fire. But these crystals created chaos they needed a balancing agent. One calming and yet wild, thus the crystal of spirit. It was ordained that each decended Queen of Crystalia shall have the responsibility for that crystal. In time of need the sage of spirit would travel outside of her home and find all four sages and bring them back to Crystalia where they would reunite with their crystals and their powers shall be awakened. At that time the crystals come together and the sages release their power and destroy the threat to the world. This is why we need your help. You are the sage of Fire. You and no other. Now do you see why you must help us?"

Standing with his arms crossed he lamented to hear the story. It seemed like if she would just keep trying. Might as well let her get her kicks out now.
"Actually," he paused, looking at her a moment, "That doesn't answer why I am here to help you at all. It answers the theory of how this all got started, and it's a nice theory mind you. Personally, I've heard better but this one does have a sweet touch, especially me being part of the main focus."
He crouched looking into her eyes, "It still doesn't answer why I was captured and brought here to save your ass. What, is there an angry bear in the Crystalia that needs a beating? Are the ogres getting restless in their camps? Oh, maybe those faery things are starting to rebel and are going to kill all the misquitos in the land? Come on, why are you rounding up these sages?"
He cocked his head.

Ariana sighed " I just told you. I am gathering all the sages to take them back to Crystalia to awaken the power of the crystals. There is a crisis to the world. The dark riders of the north have risen in rebellian and are awakening a war that ended hundreds of years ago. They are out to conquer Crystalia. They have the Dark gods on their side so we must used out crystals. If they take over Crystalia they will have the power to take over the world. We must stop them or all is doomed"

Garret nodded rubbing the dirt off his hand. It was apparent he wasn't really listening anymore.
"Yeah, sure, that's great," he looked around, "So, do you make the breakfast around here, or do we go to an Inn or what?"
With the rest of his own stuff packed he was ready to go to a nice place to eat. Now that this little crystal lady was flipping the bill he should at least try to exploit it.

Lawerence

He limped back into the 'camp' as the new sage complained about breakfast. He grunted, and Domicus padded up, a dead rabbit between his jaws. The wolf laid down, and began ripping into the fuzzy little rodent.

Lawerence limped over to Shan, and pulled out several apples, giving one to each of the horses, and looking down the path as he bit into the last one himself.

Eating quickly, he began to limp along the path. Domicus looked up, and continued his eating. Lawerence turned around, and the aged warrior limped up to the sages. He looked at his half-eaten apple for a moment, then up at the sage of fire. "I hope you got that helmet ready. We're goin' through the pass, and I'm not in the mood to start up another fight with the orcs. If you want, you can ride my horse, if you can get to it before someone else does. I'll be down the road a ways if anyone really cares."

With that said, he turned before anyone could answer, and limped down the road towards Edilan, where the Sage had said they were headed. His braid was pulled over his right shoulder, and he kept glancing off the path to his right and left. Limping as he was, his age seemed evident, as if time had caught up to the aged warrior, and was dragging him towards a waiting grave.

Ariana's eyes narrowed at Garret and his attitude. She seriously wanted to to hit him. But Lawrence interrupted her and she noticed his limp. Frowning she hurried after him when he began walking down the road. She grabbed his arm stopping him. "Let me take a look at that leg, I might be able to do something for it" her eyes were kind and filled with worry as she looked from his leg back to his face.

Aneke:

Aneke fluttered over to Garret. "Hey, are you ready to go Ariana will want to leave soon and I know how inconsiderate and slow you outworlders are" she faught a smile that threatened to come to her lips. That seemed to try to come out whenever she had these conversations with Garret. It was quite annoying. " We really should be leaving. I hear the next sage isn't human. She has that going for her at least.. being an outworlder and all. Poor Girl" shaking her head she awaited Garret's reply.

Lawerence

He looked over at her. "No, I'm fine. Besides, I know a healer in Edilan, and that's where you said we're going. I want to get a good head start, before the horses catch up. Don't wanna slow ya down."

He gave a cheerful grin, and slowly pulled his arm free, and continued limping down the road. Domicus sat up, swallowing the last of the poor woodland rodent, and took off down the road, padding slowly next to Lawerence and keeping his eyes, ears, and nose alert as the old man meandered down the path, eyes kept to the ground, watching carefully where he placed his feet.

The warhorse Shan, left in the camp, threw his head, glancing about at those left near him.

Lawerence continued to watch his feet. His right foot was numb, but if he shifted his weight to it, the entire ankle flared up in pain. He watched his walking, the old companion of a wolf silently nudging his mind when he got too far off course.

"There you are," he mused, walking over to the horses, "I thought maybe a frog had gotten you in the night. I missed my travelling companion."
He had sort of gotten used to the flying pest. She was even cute in her own faery way.
"Well, since you know a whole bunch about me already, why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself?"
He paused at the biggest horse, obviously that of a warrior. The rest paled in comparison. He was rude and obnoxious to just about everybody, but never animals. He gave the warhorse nothing but respect. After a few minutes of petting him and letting him get comfortable Garret carefully got on.
(this is after Aeneke has explained a little bit about herself)
"Ariana isn't your boss or anything, is she?" he paused, slightly, heading the horse in the main direction towards Edilan.
"What I mean is, if I wanted to get one of you things for myself, do I have to fill out an application or catch one or what?"

Victoria's mom left the room and Victoria was left there crying with only the talking cat as a friend. If you even called him a friend."I am sorry Victoria .." the cat said and laid on Victoria's back . " It must have been not to be"
"Shut up you little fur ball!" Victoria cryed and moved from her back to her side causeing the cat to fall

Shan watched as the man climbed aboard, and then stepped over to the road, where he stopped. The great warhorse stood in the road, watching the 'camp', and refused to move any further. Instead, the horse stood, watching the Sage, sometimes turning his head to look at the man on his back.

Domicus stopped when the pass came into view, and the old warrior stopped with him, staring at the orcs gathered around a small fire in the only pass through the mountains. The old wolf laid down at the mans feet, bringing a smile to the weathered face.

Ariana frowned as she saw the Orcs up ahead. She really was not in the mood for another battle but she had no choice. She noticed then how tired and worn Lawrence was. He wouldn't admit it but he was weak at the moment. Shaking her head she decided on a coarse of action. She called to Aneke " Use your sleeping spell little friend. I know it will be hard to put to sleep so many but I know you can do it. You wil have to get close so be careful please" after hearing Anekes confirmationed she signiled to everyone to stand still and stay very quiet.

Aneke:

Aneke seemed to like how Garret wished to know more about her. Why she wasn't sure she just was. "Well I am a faery as you can see I live in teh faery kingdom in Crystalia known as Terislina. I am the neice of the king there. I met Ariana one day after a run in with a hawk and she nursed me back to health. Before that Faeries and Crystalians didn't mix but afterwards the king was gratful for Ariana's help he formed an alliance between the two" "Ariana isn't your boss or anything, is she?" he paused, slightly, heading the horse in the main direction towards Edilan.
"What I mean is, if I wanted to get one of you things for myself, do I have to fill out an application or catch one or what?" She laughed the sound like a bunch of small bells. "no of course not. I am not owned by anyone I am my own Faery person. I am just best friends with Ariana. We go every where together" just at the moment she got Ariana's message. Sending a confirmation she looked to Garret " I have to go. Ariana has found a camp of orcs blocking our way I have to put them to sleep" shaking her head she spoke outloud softly to herself unaware she did so and that Garret could hear her "Damn, I'v never put to sleep so many at once. If I fail or an caught... no I won't think about that" sighing softly she glanced at Garret "See you later outworlder" she then blinked and was on her way to the orcs.

Lawerence

He looked at the Sage. "You know, with the helm the other sage has, anyone who can speak the language of orcs can order them to kill themselves."

He looked back to the road, then gave a whistle. Shan galloped up to the warrior, the sage on his back. "And I happen to know know a curse in orcish that roughly translates into what we need."

He looked up at the sky. "But if you'd prefer to do this some other way, I won't object. You're the leader of this rag-tag group."

He watched the clouds drift past his gaze, and allowed himself a small grin at how beautiful the day was.

OOC: note to Grandmage Ariana is riding her own horse not Shan :)

IC: Ariana shook her head. " I don't like using curses such as those. They are to evil. All we need is for these orcs to sleep to achieve our directive. Aneke will take care of it"

Aneke:

Aneke blinked from location to location faster then the eyes can see. She stopped on a ledge directly above the orcs. Reaching in her pouch she pulled out a handful of some type of powder then flew swiftly over the orcs sprinkling it as she flew. The orcs began coughing and sputtering and Aneke began her spell "Sky so high, oceans deep, let these orc's fall asleep" the powder began the sparkle and one by one the orcs fell to the ground.

Garret barely flashed an interest, before making his way back to where he was before. He didn't feel like joining the rest of the group just yet.
His mind was more with his own thoughts. And, of course the treasures waiting for him to come. A wish, a wonderful wish. Anything and everything he desired.
Life as he knew it would be gone. All he would have left is a life full of vacation and fun.
He kept imagining the rest of his life full of happiness. Unwrapping a blanket from his knapsack, he covered the horse with it, lying down on his back. It was a huge horse, and he could do it with great ease. The horse, well trained it seemed, kept on a steady course. He followed the path of his master, and Garret just looked up at the bright sky, thinking of nothing in particular.
Well, maybe that faery.
She seemed to be able to do everything. Such a versatile creature. Great magic, interesting attitude, and always able to get the job done.
How could he get his own....

OOC: This I know. For further information, and to sort out confusion, I will explain myself. Your character will be refered to as the 'Sage', capitialized. All of the others will be a 'sage', lower case s.

I may be easilly confused, but I'm still managing to keep track of what's going on.

After the orcs had dropped off, he drew his sword. As he limped past, he seperated heads from shoulders. Domicus ran through, and was scouting the area by the time the aged warrior had resheathed his sword and was limping on again.

Shan moved forward, carrying Garret on his back like a big lump. The warhorse snorted, and threw his head.

Lawerence just limped forward, barely paying attention to anything but keeping his feet on the road.

Ariana smiled as Aneke pulled off the spell. She knew she could do it. Her smile turned to a frown when Lawrence proceeded to seperate their heads from their bodies. Angrily she caught up with him "If I wanted them dead I would have done so myself and I would have gone with a curse. I only wished for them to sleep so that we may pass. Next time I expect you to follow directions I am in charge here and I won't hesitate to push that fact" with that she nudged her horse into a faster pace. "Stubborn old man" she muttered softly.

Aneke:

Aneke fluttered beside Garret her laughter echoing as she heard what Ariana said to Lawrence. She knew what Ariana was like and she disliked death immensly. She was also very bossy and dangerous when she did not get her way. She looked to Garret "So outworlder what do you think of our journey so far? Is it to boring for you?"

Lawerence

He muttered to himself as he limped along. "Oh, well, I'll remember to let the very pests of our land live because you don't feel the need to kill some creatures who would as soon rape and eat you as look you in the face. I mean, the very fact that they're ruthless killers who ran everyone in the area off by raiding their houses and killing them in the middle of the night for amusement doesn't give us the right to kill them. Bah."

He limped alond, and Domicus eventually came to his side, sniffing at the slight trail of blood he was leaving behind before nudging the aged warrior with a whine. "I'm fine Domicus. Really. I'm fine...."

Victoria cried herself to sleep . She cried out when she saw this huge group of people chazing after her. she ran everyone from them but they found her each turn and pushed her off the big cliff and she fell. Her boyfriend flew from the heavens and carried her up. They flew together up in the heavens and up though the clouds. They sat on a cloud and layed there hugging each other. (if faith hill's song "there you be" was alive during this time it would be playing)Then they fell asleep next to each other and she woke up.

He smiled, looking at the sky to the faery, and then calmly back again.
"Journey? We've only been hiking for ten minutes. I wouldn't even call this a walk yet. However, the short time I have been here isn't that bad.
He quickly massaged his forearms, "I'm getting a great tan. And soon we'll be in Edilan. At least I can get a decent night's rest and a meal... not to mention the reward."
He paused, looking back at her, his mind still travelling.
"Speaking of reward, how does one get a faery? You said that Ariana was your master, how'd that happen?"

Victoria had just waken up when she looked over and screamed. That damn cat was sitting next to her head "leave me alone furball!"

Let's see if we can keep this going...

ooc: I guess I've got the role of Sage of Air. This'll be fun..

Name: Brother Flint
Kingdom: Southern Kingdom
Job: Battle Priest of Vernt (a lot like Clerics in D&D)
Hair: Bald (shaven)
Eyes: Green
Age: 63 moves like a 20 year old though

Ic: Many miles ahead of the group trudging through the pass lies the city of Eidlan, and the healer Lawrence mentioned. The man he has mentioned at this moment is quite busy in the courtyard of the monestary there in the city. As people watch he flips, spins and jumps his way between many opponents all the while yelling out instructions. "I said duck Jaygor! Falmor, thats NOT how to swing a flail! Duck! You FOOL Waite, I said duck, but you moved into the punch!" the figure roared as he finally stopped after heaving the last student through the air into a pile of his fellows.

Walking over to the now groaning students he spoke again. "I gave you a handicap, I only fought with one arm against 20 of you and still I won, why is that?" he then watched as the youngest student spoke for the group "For you are much more skilled than we Father..." the boy stammered. "WRONG!" bellowed Flint, "I won because I kept my calm, I kept moving, and I had NO DOUBT in my heart that Vernt would give me victory! That is why I can defeat so many WITH weapons with my bare hands. I think you all must meditate and pray on this manner for some time. Go to the grove and commune with the trees as a good son of Vernt does when he is troubled." he said as the students filed off.

Watching them, his heart swelled with pride at how they handled the defeat. After a while he admitted to himself that the fight was closer than they had thought. "A few of them are becoming quite good at fighting, perhaps I should soon release some of them to do their wandering among the people to understand why we exist." he mused as he strode to his chambers. Opening the door he stepped through and opened the doors to the closet in his rooms. Glinting back at him was a set of Plate Mail armor made for him by the High Priest of his order years ago. Smiling slightly he ran his hands over the segmented breastplate and the visage of Vernt engraved there, then running his hands over the weapons (a giant warhammer and a three headed flail) he felt the peace of his god flood him. Sighing he stood back, grabbed a towel and headed for the stream that wound through the grove to wash off the sweat.
