The Democratic 'Tax Plan'

I've been effected by it every one of the last three years.
That doesn't mean you know what it is or how it is calculated. And I doubt you were Affected by it, either.

just because i think it's unfair that anyone not pay taxes and that i include myself in that group.
remember, i'm arguing for it's existence under the current bracketed system.

affected, nice.
exactly how it's calculated? no.
that it exists so that i can't bring my agi down far enough to eliminate my tax responsibility? i get that and i agree with it.

How could I forget? How could I forget a tax system SPECIFICALLY forbidden by the constitution that was over ridden on the concept of 'sticking it to the rich?'

And then amended to the point that the truly rich could avoid most taxes.

If you want to see the results of increased taxes all you have to do is research the tax policies of the Roman Empire, or the British Empire, or Detroit.

And what deductions do you have that would otherwise bring your AGI down far enough to eliminate your tax responsibility? Again, I doubt that you do or that you were affected.

well, not to get too personal, but
i have over 7k in medical expeses every year.
i have a mortgage.
i have several k in union dues.
then there's the typical stuff most other people have and a few more personal things.

if you asked a few months ago i'd probably have a better idea off the top of my head.

eta: why are you so suspicious? i find it strange considering one of the biggest criticisms i've heard is that a law designed to ensure the wealthy pay taxes too often effects the middleclass. with that in mind, how can you find it so hard to believe i'm one of those Affected?

Your mortgage interest isn't a preference item for AMT.
Medical expenses are still allowed under AMT (over 10% of AGI rather than 7.5%)
You don't have a huge family with a large number of personal exemptions
etc.
etc.

You seem to think that without AMT people would be paying no tax and they only pay any tax because of AMT rules. Not true. Not even close.

as i said, i don't know exactly how it's calculated, so i don't know what you mean by a preference item. my medical expenses beat 7.5, but barely 10. by this i assume you mean a preference item is one that gets added back to the agi before the atm is figured.

i don't know what you mean by etc. how much money do you think i make?

eta, i'll ask my accountant next year.

This is true. Think we can run the Lower Slobovia Lotto scam?

You don't know shit. We can leave it at that. You have 'beliefs' but you have no knowledge. You're a fool easily parted from your money.

you're kidding.
i say i was affected by the amt. because you, who have no access to my tax forms, says i wasn't, i have no clue?

I'm for the Fair Tax, or, for that matter, anything that simplifies our present tax code. We need radical change, on the conservative side, and it ain't coming from Bush.

seriously, you're absolutly unhinged. how can you claim you know better than i do whether i was affected?

I hope it's a helluva lot if you pay "several thousand dollars" in union dues.
you'd be surprised how many people don't know just how much they pay in dues and fees. it's more than the check you send to the hall every month.

I've never paid a dime, nor do I intend to do so.

You've already claimed as much. And boasted about doing so. I can only hope your family is living "one pay check away from poverty" so I can hear you whine when that day comes to pass.

No, I say you have no clue because you don't know what AMT is, how it is calculated, what preference items are or what they have to do with AMT calculation, etc. How can you know you were affected by something when you don't know what it is?

It's religious.
