Just saw the new Despicable Me sequel. Oh wow is it good!!!
This one is worth springing for the 3D, the effects are great.
(btw--don't leave when the credits start! there is some great stuff with the minions that you'll miss if you do. It was worth hanging around just for the one blowing bubbles!)

That thread makes me really fucking sad and I need to stop reading it.

Hug your friends and tell them you love them.

I always feel perverted & silly going to see a kid's movie alone...but if I can drag another adult friend or even a friend with kids to it, then I have no issues going...It's just a me thing, paranoia or whatever...Yes, I want to see it, so no more spoilers, please...

I have no problems going to the movies by myself, but I agree with you on that one. I'm going to drag my bff to go see it.

Go to the latest showing. I promise you that at least half the people there will be adults with no kids. We don't have any--I'm just hooked on animation.
All else fails over dress a bit and carry a little notepad--they'll think you're reviewing it! (I did that once when I wanted to go to a really fancy restaurant but didn't have anyone handy to go with me. I think I actually got better service when I got out my phone and started taking pictures of the food!)

Oh, and the thing about the bubbles isn't really a spoiler--it's something you would MISS if you didn't know. It's like a bonus. Not part of the story at all!!
It comes after most of the credits so half of the place was already empty--nearly everyone missed it. We hung around because they did that with the first one too.
Just don't leave until the screen is BLACK!

i hope those passengers that were on the plane that crash landed in san francisco are safe.

A Magic Moment I Remember by Aleksandr Pushkin

A magic moment I remember:
I raised my eyes and you were there,
A fleeting vision, the quintessence
Of all that's beautiful and rare
I pray to mute despair and anguish,
To vain the pursuits world esteems,
Long did I hear your soothing accents,
Long did your features haunt my dreams.
Time passed. A rebel storm-blast scattered
The reveries that once were mine
And I forgot your soothing accents,
Your features gracefully divine.
In dark days of enforced retirement
I gazed upon grey skies above
With no ideals to inspire me
No one to cry for, live for, love.
Then came a moment of renaissance,
I looked up - you again are there
A fleeting vision, the quintessence
Of all that's beautiful and rare

Gotcha, and hey I might try that notepad trick for fine dining on my own in the near future...
