The Georgia Indictments Thread

Mark Meadows burned so many documents before leaving the White House
that the then-chief of staff's wife complained about dry-cleaning bills to remove the 'bonfire' smell

Former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson in her new memoir said that onetime chief of staff Mark Meadows
burned so many documents in the waning days of the administration that his wife complained to her about the dry-cleaning
bills to remove the burning smell from his clothes, according to The New York Times.

Hutchinson, who last year vaulted into the national spotlight after testifying before the House January 6 committee and remarking
on the inner workings of the White House during Capitol riot, described to The Times an administration that was steeped in paranoia.

The former GOP aide told The Times that Meadows and other staffers feared that individuals from the "deep state" could potentially
swoop in and find the documents they were disposing of.

Hutchinson in her memoir wrote that Meadows chose to dispose of documents in his fireplace in the waning days of the administration in
January 2021, with Meadows' wife grumbling about the mounting expenses of removing the "bonfire" scent from his suits.

Wait ... WHAT????

Georgia Republicans Remove Fani Willis' Biggest Threat

State Republicans have voted to oust a colleague for leading the impeachment efforts against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

"State Senator Colton Moore announced on Thursday that the state GOP voted to oust him over his calls to defund and investigate the district attorney in the wake of her sweeping RICO indictment that named former President Donald Trump and 18 of his allies as co-conspirators in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.

"Today's removal is a direct result of me calling on my Republican colleagues in the Senate to do their job and sign onto an emergency session to investigate Fani Willis," Moore said in a statement shared with Newsweek. "The Georgia Constitution clearly outlines the legislature's power to call an emergency session to investigate a judicial officer. After urging my Republican Senate colleagues to join me...they responded by acting like children and throwing me out of the caucus.""

short on details, but this one (charged with a breach of Coffee County's election machines) taking plea deal
One of Donald Trump's co-defendants charged in the Fulton County election interference case is taking a plea deal, marking the first plea deal in the case.

Scott Hall is appearing Friday in court for what the judge said was a "negotiated resolution." Asked if he understands this is a "negotiated plea," Hall said "I do."

while i'm pleased a plea deal might lead to better information & chances of convicting others along the chain, i still think it stinks that people taking these deals aren't being held truly to account

Tell it to a jury :D

Georgia judge ruled against former Donald Trump campaign attorney Kenneth Chesebro in his bid to shield evidence in his Georgia election trial.

Chesebro's lawyers had argued that emails and memos he wrote laying out a plan to use Republican electors in seven states won by Joe Biden were protected under attorney-client privilege, but Fulton County Superior Court judge Scott McAfee found those protections were only meant to shield lawyers who were not suspected of crimes, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

McAfee also denied another motion to dismiss the case entirely or provide Chesebro with immunity from prosecution because, his lawyers argued, he was simply providing legal advice to the former president, but the judge said he was free to tell that to a jury.

after Judge Jones' ruling above, he's maybe far more inclined to take a plea deal

Judge Jones denies 3 more fake electors' bids to move cases to federal court

A judge Friday denied attempts by three “fake electors” charged in Georgia alongside former President Trump to move their charges to federal court, finding they were not federal officials.

His decisions mean that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s (D) entire prosecution is set to move ahead in state court, where the proceedings will be televised, unless any defendant succeeds on appeal.

In three separate, yet similar rulings, Jones said the fake electors — David Shafer, Shawn Still and Cathy Latham — could not claim they were acting as federal officials when they met in the Georgia state capitol in December 2020 and signed documents purporting to be the state’s electors.

Scott Hall, a 59-year-old bail bondsman who prosecutors say played a key role in the former president's effort to overturn his election loss, pleaded guilty Friday to five misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit intentional interference with the performance of election duties and agreed to testify in a case involving 18 other defendants.

Hall agreed to serve five years of probation as part of the deal,
and his testimony could prove to be key in the prosecutions of pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, whose trial is set to begin Oct. 23, and former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark.
records show him as having been in contact with clark for 63 minutes by phone on jan.2nd
Hall is the brother in law of Republican operative David Bossie, a former deputy Trump campaign manager in 2016 and chairman of the conservative activist group Citizens United.

According to a Nov. 20, 2020, email written by then-GOP chairman David Shafer, who has also been indicted, Hall was acting at Bossie's request, and he would likely be able to tell prosecutors what role the former president and others in his orbit encouraged or directed his actions.

I had been wondering just how consequential that one’s cooperation with prosecutors would be.

It sounds like the information that one has could be very helpful in prosecuting the ringleaders.

After hearing this news, I suddenly have a pleasing image in my mind of dominoes falling in a row…uphill…

Wonderful!!!

Thank you butters!!!

kerik subpoenaed, requesting immunity since he may well be one of the un-named co-conspirators and doesn't fancy going back inside.
trump pardoned him...guess it depends on how much dirt he's willing to give up against the indicted :)

Kerik is a long-time Trump confidant, having served as New York City Police Commissioner under then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Kerik is a convicted felon and served time for ethics violations and tax fraud, but was pardoned by former President Trump. And now, according to CNN’s report, he may be willing to flip on Trump to avoid another stint in prison.

so one down, pleading guilty, and now an immunity request. keep 'em coming :)

after meadows' failed bid to have his case transferred to federal court, he applied through an appeals court: seems he fucked up his paperwork and the court has given him 2 weeks to provide transcript order forms that should have been included or have the case dismissed.

team meadows says they have bought the transcript copies and have filed them now.

fookin' plebs

Judge rejects Sidney Powell’s attempt to dismiss Georgia charges over misconduct accusations

“Dismissing an indictment is also something where you have to show prejudice,” Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said. “It’s something that’s not done lightly and it has to be something that’s done with a concrete reason.”

“And just purely on procedural grounds, I don’t believe that this motion to dismiss for misconduct … I don’t see that as clearing just the procedural bar of being something that’s under the court’s authority,” he continued.

T&P to the MAGAts for rulings that hold their cult leader and his goon squad to the same status as anyone else indicted for election interference.

clark filed again today to the appeals court to try and get his RICO case heard in fed court
The ex-DOJ official, Jeffrey Clark, said he is seeking the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals' intervention after a federal court judge in September rejected his bid to stand trial in U.S. court, rather than Georgia state court.

A separate request from Clark seeks an immediate stay of U.S. District Court Judge Steven Jones' Sept. 29 opinion and order that sent the criminal charges back to Fulton County Superior Court.
i'll be surprised if it goes where he wants it to go

kanye west's former publicist, co-defendant in the Georgia trials, declared she was trump's next press secretary in a now-deleted tweet. She also posted this on instagram:
In a similar post on Instagram, Kutti added the caption, "I'm protected." That post has also since been deleted.
Experts say her comments could make it difficult for Kutti to strike a plea deal with prosecutors.

“It certainly doesn't help her case if she testifies,” said Georgia trial lawyer and former RICO prosecutor Chris Timmons. “It adds bias if you think you’re going to get a position in the Trump administration.”
so so stupid, these people
