Just back from NYC, jetlagged as all buggery and it's about 34 hours since I last lost consciousness even for a millisecond but hey! What an excellent city!
We went up the Empire State Building, we went to Liberty and Ellis islands (ace museum at the latter), took the Staten Island ferry at sunset, went to Coney Island and Brighton Beach, spent ages in the Guggenheim, the Met and MoMA, did loads and loads of walking...thoroughly enjoyed the whole 5-day trip.
Amongst other things we ate -
The best tofu I've had in years at a neighbourhood Chinese
Ace, cheap Sri Lankan in Staten Island
Ace, cheap Russian in Brighton Beach
Obscenely big pastrami sandwiches at Katz's
Oysters at Grand Central.
Just one thing... you people need to learn that cheese is supposed to taste of something!
