The Isolated Blurt BDSM Thread

This is the grossest thing I've heard of in a long, long time.
Not to mention it looks like poop on a stick being basted with semen.

I can watch the surgery chanel while eating spaghetti, no problem. But the video footage I saw of butter-on-a-stick made me want to vomit. I had to look away.

The first step is admitting your country has a problem. It starts with biscuits and gravy and the next thing you know you're deep frying butter.

OK America, we love you but...you've crossed the line.

It's time to admit you have a problem or we are staging an intervention.

We had that here at our local fair for a few yeas now...I watched them make it...and somepeople eat it...but as much of a foodie as I am I couldn't bring myself to try it.

But that said, it wasn't near as foul as what these American guys I know did years ago at a party as a food dare....he and his best friend faced off each with 1 lb of cold butter. Yes, a full lb each, that is 4 sticks of butter. They sat down on the beach and just ate it. Unsalted. Cold. By the last sticks, one guy pulled out a chocolate pudding cup and dipped the stick of butter into that to try to help get it all down...the other guy (who won) just chowed it down. They both finished the entire lb of buter, and both puked their guts out into the surf not minutes later. Thinking about watching them bite into the cold sticks of butter like an apple, to this day, still makes my stomach turn.

The Texas State Fair had deep fried margaritas last year -a greasy doughnut hole like pastry, soaked in "margarita syrup".

Blech.

It's so strange how I can scroll down that page and be tantalized by one image, then be utterly repulsed by the very next image, almost simultaneously. I imagine bungee jumping would feel the same way.

That's pretty much why I love that site :p

Y'all are kinda behind on the fried food news :p They've been doing that for ages. They fry coke too. I was really disappointed in that. They just soak a bunch of dough before frying it. I was hoping they did somehting more creative :(

When I imagine fried coke, I see strange, looping, almost geometric formations of batter that, when cracked open, allows hot, fizzing cola to spill out and burn the mouth. In my mind the batter is a skeletal structure, and the coke is marrow.

That's a weird thing to say, isn't it? I'd blame that on the fact that it's late and I'm technically on mind altering medications, but the truth is I've always been that strange. :D

The appeal of deep fried anything eludes me but deep frying...fat...just seems like suicide on a plate. (Or a stick, as the case may be).

And people eat that stuff??? Why???

And Cali, your butter story made me retch. Blerg.

K, I would give you about three days in rural Louisiana. Either you'd go native and start eating deep-fried alligator scales or you'd go postal. Even the finest of restaurants in that part of the woods serve mostly brown fried food - even the vegetables, for crying out loud.

Congrats on finishing up the novel, btw. Job well done, I'm sure!

One year, at a Youth Group Retreat two we had some games going where that stuff was norm. At one point two guys had to eat a whole can of spam (each), uncooked, fast. *gag* The guy who won actually liked spam, the guy who lost hurled. Another time they had to eat a banana and drink and entire two liter of pop, fast. They both threw up that time.

Hence the reason I live in hippie heaven. :D

Yeah, I remember my drive through the deep south veeeeeeery vividly. Particularly the gas station mini-mart with the glass showcase with rows of deep fried...things.

ETA: Though I have to say the the folks in Louisiana were the friendliest strangers I've ever met.

Thanks! I'm sure there will be more work ahead if it finds a publisher...

"We love it, except we want to cut the middle six chapters, make the protagonist a man and set it on 25th century earth."

...but for now I am just happy to contemplate going outdoors again and not getting up at 5:30am every day to work before I...go to work.

I'd love to try a bite or two of the deep-fried butter. But that'd be plenty, thanks.

But, hey, I'm from the South, which everyone loves to mock for deep-frying shit. I still say that there's nothing edible that's not better battered and fried, though. It's just that sensible people only do it occasionally.

Right. Which is why you have two choices actually, fight for the fighting's sake or ignore it as best you can. Which one I pick depends on the day and my mood at the moment.

We may or may not be talking about the same thing, but if we are, there's a reason I don't feel comfortable over on what amounts to the Lesbian board and, thus, rarely post there.

If it's any consolation, I also constantly mock my Czech friends for their love of internal organs, my French-Canuck friends for their love of poutine, Kiwi friends for putting beetroot and eggs on everything, Brit friends for a complete absence of flavour in their food...etc.

;)

I still say there's nothing that can't be made to taste better with batter, seasoning, and grease. :p

I JUST WON TICKETS AND BACK STAGE PASSES TO SEE THE SCRIPT!

I have never won anything in my life, and now I win twice in an hour.

OMIGOD YES!!!! I love that stuff ^_______^ I really wish I could find a source where I'm at where it's loose. I'm not even 100% sure I can find the Twinings stuff :( I've been trying to finish the tea I have before buying new tea.

Yup, got the Twinings stuff.

Starting last month, every oher time I shop, I buy a small (10 bag) pack of something I haven't had before.

Didn't like Darjeerling much, but will give it another go. Did like the Lapsang though.
