The Last Kingdom

Karrack

When Vixen had put him on the ground, hard, he could only stare up at her grinning face and take all the abuse she would probably hit him with.

Then she said "Well... not stupid... in the common sense of the word... but certainly unintelligent enough to underestimate me perhaps?" and then got off of him. Getting to his feet he grinned in reply which quickly changed into absolute surprise as she began puking all over the floor. Grabbing ahold of her as the last heaves passed through her he helped her into the kitchen so she could grab a drink.

After she had polished off the pitcher of ale and asked him what that was his mind raced over the many possibilites. "I... I don't know Vix." he said, "I've never seen you sick like this before and this bothers me, alot." shaking his head in disbelief he refilled the pitcher and handed it back to her. Pursing his lips he spoke again. "Well, the only thing we can do is ask Morsyth or Lothander to check you out and make sure your alright, if you want too." After he spoke he grabbed his own pitcher and drank with her in silence for a short while, shaken by this incident more than he would ever tell her.

Lord Randall

Randall was overjoyed upon hearing Kelwyn's agreement with his suggestions. Nodding to his King he departed and reaching the stables proceeded to ready Storm himself. Once he had finished he returned to his office and there quickly briefed his officers about the upcoming assignment. As they left he asked the page whether any of the five warriors had appeared according the summons to meet in his office.

The boy shook his head no, then turned around at the sound of a knock on the door. Randall motioned him to open it, and awaited whoever it could be coming in....

OOC is that Ok Dark lord

King Kelwyn

Kelwyn arrived at the stables just in time to catch Avallyn's sigh. He watched from his vantage point for a moment. Goddess but she was beautiful... he wondered what she was thinking. Did she think of him at all? Was he being ridiculous in even contemplating his desire for her.

Finally he stepped forward on silent feet and spoke softly.

"Why the sigh M'Lady... let me brush away any sadness that may haunt you..." He smiled at her softly, intimately, taking advantage of the short time they had alone together before the others arrived.

Vixen

Vixen laughed, shaking off the last feelings of nautia with a gusto typical of her.

She accepted the second pitcher from Karrack and drank it down greedily.

"I feel fine now... goodness... I don't know WHAT that was... but the last thing I want is someone looking me over..." She said unaware of Karrack's concern for her.

"Must of been the food... it didn't seem to affect you... but you have a stomach of iron..." she chuckled as she grabbed a leather satchel and started filling it with supplies.

(since when did Sanity get to know everyone's names all of a sudden?)

Garret stepped outside the tent. Two guards, both orcs stared out at him. Their mouths, apart from showing constant drool stains, bared huge sharp teeth. Garret smiled, walking out into the night. It was still night out. He didn't know if a day had passed or not, best not to think about it much. He was alive... barely.
A worm.
That's what he was, he was a wriggling worm on a hook. The drowl held the fishing pole and was dangling it into the brook, hoping for a bite. These other destined, whoever they were, were now on their way. He stared at the camp now, more had gathered. He knew they would. He was a small child, and he had killed nearly a dozen of those monsters altogether. Think of what will happen when six... or seven of them were all figthing these things at once. Monster blood bath.
In the camp, numbers grew. The orcs were a good fifty in their ranks. The ogres, numbering off to twenty or so. 40 or so elves, most of which were bearing swords, he could see quite a few with bows too. Then they had dwarves, and from what he could tell they were making cannons.
Shit, cannons. What a way to go, death by a huge lead ball. Highly innacurate, but very effective.
What's worse, he could see more coming. All of them, in packs of two or three at a time. It took an entire meadow to house them all. Fires were laid out, some huge, and others very tiny.
The king had better have sent an army out here... otherwise there would be nothing but death. Death all around.
Garret went over to a huge oxen that they were roasting. He took some meat, and began eating. One of the ogres growled, and hissed at him. Another scowled the first. Garret watched as the ogre stuck out his massive chest and walked off. Apparently he wasn't supposed to be touched. This might be beneficial.
Eating his meat, Garret went out to a more reclusive spot. He watched as the stars shone brilliantly down. Laying there, in the sweet grass, he could feel night envelope him. It was heavenly. Or, it would have been if that damn spell that drowl hadn't placed that spell on him. His entire body felt it now, an eerie warmness that just wouldn't go away. He felt like digging into his own skin just go get it out.
Sighing, Garret continued to look at the stars. It would be gone in a day or so, he knew it wouldn't work. Whatever was inside him planned on staying inside. That's what the warmness was, it was his own anti magic fighting the spell. It drew great strength from him, but as long as he had his own destiny with him, nothing could overpower it.
Something stirred the bushes next to him. Curiously, Garret kneeled, looking into the foliage.

Avallyn looked up as the king aproached a blush creeping up her neck. Could he see her thoughts in her eyes, the feelings she had for him that she despretly tried to hide. "The sigh was one of worry. I pray no one comes to harm on this journey for it will be dangerous" looking back at the sky so he would not see that her concern though selfish was mostly just for him. She did not know what she would do if harm came to him. In such a short time how had he gotten into her heart? How was this depth of feeling possible. She barely knew him. She turned to face him her gaze met his, "Kelwyn please be careful. I ..." she glanced down at her feet feeling a new emotion, shyness. this was not normal for her not at all. "I really do not wish for harm to come your way" was all she could say as she once more became lost in his eyes.

Aeneva

She heard some grunting and then shuffling of feet. Her eyes widened with surprise as one of the guards meandered off into the forest. The creature fumbled with its belt before dropping its pants to the ground. The tinkling sound of liquid splashing on dirt was followed with the unmistakable sound of relief.

Without hesitating, Aeneva dove into some bushes closer to the encampment but making sure she kept to the shadows. She carefully crawled forward and parted the foliage to peer out and nearly screamed out loud as she stared directly into Garrett’s eyes. She just crouched there, staring in absolute disbelief. The goddess had indeed granted her a miracle, one that nearly killed her in surprise though.

Garrett’s brow was furrowed as if in pain but he smiled bravely at her. His hair was damp with perspiration as if he had a fever. She saw the question in his eyes and whispered her answer to him before he even asked her, “Kindness begets kindness.” Her eyes soften as she continued, “I could not leave without trying to help. What happened?”

She listened grimly as he related to her the details. An infection of sorcery?
She reached out delicate hand to touch his face at the same time she gently probed him with her gift. A soft pale blue glow emanated from her and flowed into him. Most of his wounds were adequately taken care of. She healed the rest easily and quickly.

Suddenly her healing flared into a bright ball of light before quickly disappearing. She fell backwards in shock, staring at Garrett. Something vile was in him, a deep penetrating infection of evilness. Fear coursed through her. The thing was abnormal not of this world, it was a cancerous evil.

Aeneva held her breath and waited. No one noticed the disturbance. She frowned and reached out again. Her pale violet eyes darkened again as she concentrated. Again the light flared brightly before dispersing. She needed more time and she needed a better place if she was to explore and figure out what the strange darkness was that pulsated within Garrett. At the same time she wondered exactly who was this young man?

Before she could even ask him what to do next, there was a yell. Garrett shoved her back into the safety of the bushes as he stood up to walk back to the camp. She stayed absolutely still as she watched him. She hoped he had a plan because she had none.

Karrack

Karrack's brow was furled as he helped Vixen put everything into the sack then they walked from the Kitchen's. Along the way they gathered up Lothander who nodded to them as he readied his equipment. Soon they were in the stables readying their horses. Looking into a corner Karrack saw the King and the Amazonian Queen. Waggling his eyebrows at Vixen he pointed to the back. Seeing her face he laughed quietly as they started to make more noise then lead their horses out of the stables startling the moon-eyed couple from their contemplation of each other.

Walking out into the courtyard they were greeted by the others who would travel with them. Simmons, Thalcor, Kudare and Barnes all were waiting for them. Just then some noise at the gate revealed another figure riding in on a large black war horse. Riding up to them the figure nodded and got down. Stepping forward Karrack spoke.. "Baron Falco I presume?"

Randall

Oc: In answer to how Sanity knows Randall, he doesn't know who the others are, but just about them in general. Afterall, an 8 foot tall giant is hard to miss, and an Amazonian Queen is kinda conspicious too. Besides, Randall has his name on his door. Besides, he saw Garret be captured and currently the barracks is an uproar as the troops are getting ready. :)

Ic:
Randall looked at the figure who had just burst into his door. When he heard him say something about the missions his gaze sharpened in on him. Looking at him he said "What do you know?" and placed his hand lightly on the pommel of his sword. As Sanity ran down the list of events he had seen, Randalls lips pursed even more tighter together. Nodding his head quickly he told him "Follow me!" and quickly ran towards the stables. Reaching there he searched for the King and found him in the back with Avallyn. Stopping quickly he said to Kelwyn "Your majesty, this man has some information that is of great importance" and stepped back to let Sanity and Kelwyn talk.

Garret rolled his eyes, shoving his hands into the bushes. He quickly closed his eyes, concentrating on a small incantation. Just a little something that would call small animals. In a minute, a chipmunk jumped into his palms.
"Awwww, come now. Don't tell me the big fearless warriors is scared of a little ole chipmunk?" he smiled putting the small thing on his back.
"Hey, look at that, more of your black hearted soulless goons are coming into camp. What's say we give them a greeting before they start raping the horses again."
His sarcasm slurred thickly as he moved back to camp. His heart beat wildly though, thinking of how close he came to revealing her. Not that it mattered too much, no one in this camp could technically even touch him.
Back in camp Garret did see the new enfolds of monsters. He knew right away what they were, Kobolds. Hairy little rat creatures that were a little bit taller than dwarves. Alone, a twevle year old kid who knew how to wield a sword could take him, but in large groups, they were a menace. He saw the oncoming horde.... hundreds of them. All under a spell, and all ready to battle.
Looking at this impending army, it deeply saddened him. Whoever was coming to rescue him, was in some deep shit. They'd better have some highly powered mage or something.
Garret watched with some interest as the drowl made his way into a tent. He decided to follow, putting the chipmunk down. It ran into the forest, scared out of it's mind. Garret understood.
He was scared out of his mind too.
Stepping inside the tent Garret looked at the dark elf, sitting quietly by himself. He didn't bother to be asked to sit down.
"I have a few questions, about myself and you."
The drowl cocked his brow, looking at him fiercely.
"Very well, go ahead."
With any luck the answers could help him get a plan to get out of here.

"I just have a few questions that I need straightened out, if you have a minute or two..."
The dark elf cocked his head slightly, "... and they are."
"Well, first. If I have an anti magic thing inside me, why am I able to perform magic?"
"It's no anti magic for you. From what I can tell it's a disenchantment spell. No one can cast anything that directly hurts you, unless they are extremely powerfu," the smile on his face widened. The thing inside him seemed to stir at that moment.
"All right, Why am I like this way?"
The drowl shrugged his shoulders, "No clue. Destiny, maybe genetics. Probably just a spell your mom had a mage put on you when you were a kid..."
Garret remembered his mother. Where was she? Was she even alive?
"All right. That's all I need to know right now, thank you," the drowl continued what he had been doing. Garret let himself out. He waited to see if anyone was following him, when he was sure, he snuck out towards the edge of the meadow. He never took his eyes off camp the entire time. Anyone coming close to him, he would see in a heartbeat.
"Hey, " he half whispered, "Hey, you still there?"

Aeneva

After the close call, Aeneva had left the safety of the bushes to clamber up a nearby tree. She watched curiously at Garrett moved about the camp. Her eyes widened as she realized he was making his way back towards her. She hoped he had a plan.

“I’m up here,” she whispered softly through the leaves. He shuffled his feet and pretended to look at the stars. She gave him a small smile when his eyes finally spotted her through the canopy of leaves. She was directly on the branch above him.

Kartan Sanity

as he enters Camp He shifts Back to Human Form. He glances AT The boy garret Looking Up At the sky Than walks in to his tent And gos to Sleep

Garret looked up, seeing her through the trees. The moonlight danced around her figure just so, Garret couldn't help but smile at her figure. She looked absolutely wonderful.
He coughed, glancing down back at the ground.
"I can't leave the camp. The leader here has said that a group is coming this way to rescue me. I need to be here to help them," he was staring back at the ground as he said this, not quite wanting to look up at her.
"Listen, you don't have to stay. You can leave if you want. There's a cabin I know of, that's deep in the mountains. It would take only a few days to get there, and you'll be safe."
He looked up at her again, even more beautiful than before, "I don't want you to get hurt. What's going to happen here is a lot of death and destruction, if you're caught in the middle I don't know what I'd do."
He sat down, all of a sudden his knees were getting weak. The cool grass made him feel slightly better.

Aeneva

Her eyes widen with surprise at Garrett’s words. This was the third time he had shown kindness and concern for her well being without regards to his own. She was thrill yet frightened by this. She had not encountered anyone like him. Could he not see that she was different? An ugly aberration of humankind, one of the living ghosts, the outcasts of humanity?

She shook her head, her long mane of silvery white hair shimmered in the moonlight, “I cannot just leave you here. Why can’t you leave? They have more or less given you freedom to roam unescorted in the camp. Why can you not simply slip away or even fight your way out? I saw your power, I saw you take down a dozen of them before you were captured.” She watched him intently as she balanced on the branch, “Is it that thing, that spell that the dark elf placed within you?”

Sanity

Sanity stands there Waiting for the king to Answer

Garret paused a second, searching the stars. He let in a deep breath, blowing it out into the cold night air. He had no idea how what to do. Honestly, he wanted to leave with her. They could go away and start a new life.
He shook his head. Wherever they went, the creatures would soon follow. It might take as much as a month, but eventually, they would find him. If he was going to stop them, he would have to do it here.
"Listen, I just don't want you to get hurt. I am going to kill all of these things pretty soon, and they are going to put up a hell of a fight. I don't know if I'm going to get hurt or whatever, but I just don't want someone like you to get into the middle of this."
He sighed, taking in the extent of the night.
"Listen, do you mind if we go somewhere a little more private. I hate having to look over my shoulder every few minutes," he held out his hand, "I know the perfect place."

Aeneva

She stared at Garrett’s outstretched hand. He would not ask her if it was not safe. Aeneva dropped lightly to the ground and landed gracefully without a sound. She studied Garrett’s face for a moment before placing her small hand hesitantly in his. Her touch was cool, her skin soft.

Before she had even taken two steps to follow him, a low smooth velvety chuckle parted the silence of the night. Aeneva spun around with a gasp. An imposing figure stood within the shadows of the forest. His arms were crossed and his eyes glittered like coals as he regarded them.

“What have we here? A lost kitten perhaps?” The drow’s eyes narrowed at Garrett as a sinister smile crept across his lips, “If that spell does not work by tomorrow, I believe I may have found the way to guarantee your cooperation.”

Aeneva began to back away but the dark elf gestured at her direction. Her eyes widened with fear as she realized she could not move. He approached her slowly and reached out a slender hand to gently caress her hair. He smiled, an evil wicked smile, “A Mejiro. The last one I had was over half a century ago but she was no where near as lovely as you.”

He brushed her hair aside over one shoulder as he used his other hand to slowly glide a thumb across her pale neck and throat. “So soft, so pure and white,” he murmured. Aeneva wanted to cringe from his touch but could only stand helpless.

He glanced sideways at Garrett who also stood motionless and smiled, “I can see by your eyes, you have no idea about truth of the Mejiro. Humans are such fools to believe the lies about them. Who do you think planted the ideas that the Mejiros were outcasts, the lowest form of humankind?” The drow laughed at his own words, clearly delighting in his torment of the two humans.

“Did you know, boy, that there is no nectar sweeter than that of a Mejiro? Of course not! If you did, I would not be standing here alive after touching her.” The drow smirked and moved to stand behind Aeneva to place his hands on her shoulders. His eyes never left Garrett’s face as he began to slowly move one of his hands to slide through the front of her tunic to cup one of her breasts.

Tears filled Aeneva’s eyes as she felt the drow’s hands on her. She closed her eyes at the violation. Never had she been touched like this, never had she been so humiliated. The dark elf leaned down toward her to taste her tears with his tongue, “So very sweet, like the ambrosia.”

He tugged at the lacings on her top and loosened the tunic till one snow-white shoulder was exposed. He placed his dark lips on the smooth cool flesh and lingered there, never once taking his eyes away from Garrett’s face. “Did you also know boy, that a virgin Mejiro has the innate ability to increase a person’s magical abilities permanently?”

The drow’s eyes darkened as he continued, clearing enjoying the anger and hatred he saw in Garrett’s eyes, “Unfortunately that gift is manifested only once and can only be bestowed on the Mejiro’s lover.” He chuckled again, “Fortunately, that gift can be taken forcibly.”

The drow summoned two ogre guards, “Please show our guest back to his tent, I’m afraid I shall be quite busy tonight.”

He turned his attention back to Aeneva, his hand still lightly caressing her, “Do not be afraid, I promise it shall not be too painful.” With a laugh, he lightly picked her up and headed for his quarters. Tears poured down Aeneva’s face as she silently prayed for death.

The King

Kelwyn listened to the newcomer and nodded.

"Fine... you will join..." he was interrupted by a strangled cry from Vixen.

She dropped to her knees suddenly... shaking visibly. Karrack was by her side immediately. His arms coming around her protectively.

"Stop it!" She cried out... "don't TOUCH me!" She pushed blindly at Karrack's hands on her. Startled he dropped his hands as she backed into a corner, her eyes darting around as if she couldn't see any of them. "NOOOOOOO!" She curled into a ball and shuddered.

Morsyth stepped forward quickly, placing his hand on her forehead. He pulled his hand away quickly in shock.

"Drowl? Drowl magick? But no... not exactly... strange..." he murmered almost to himself.

"Good God man... " Kelwyn addressed Morsyth... "if you can do something for her do it!" He commanded.

Morsyth looked calmly back at the King... "as you wish Majesty..." his voice somewhat mocking. Morsyth placed his hand back on Vixen's forehead and winced only slightly as he rested it there. She screamed shrilly, thrashing on the ground before going almost deathly silent. Karrack roared coming forward to grab Morsyth by the cowl of his cape yanking him away from Vixen's now prone figure.

"What did you DO!" He growled
"Unhand me you barbarian!" Morsyth hissed struggling in midair... "she is merely sleeping!"
King Kelwyn strode forward quickly placing a calming hand on Karrack's bulging arm.
"Maybe you should check for yourself Karrack... Morsyth is not going anywhere."
Karrack growled once more before dropping Morsyth who landed nimbly on his feet, scowling at the young giant.
Karrack was quickly by Vixen's side, lifting her easily in his arms. He lent his great head close to her and was immediately aware of her soft if shallow breath on his cheek. She murmered groggily as if even in sleep some nightmare still haunted her.

Kelwyn acted immediately.

"We must move out... perhaps it would be better if Vixen stayed behind..."

Again he was interrupted... this time by the small nimble figure of the Librarian.

"Majesty... we have dire news... there is a strange connection between..." he stopped seeing Vixen's prone form in Karrack's arms...

"WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FOX???" He asked pointing at her.

"She had some sort of... attack... Morsyth had to help her sleep."

The Librarian paled...

"What... what is it?" Kelwyn demanded.
"Vixen... the fox... she is suppossed to be connected somehow to the sixth and seventh... if... what did she say before..."
"She screamed for us not to touch her..." Morsyth slipped in easily... completely composed now.
"Then..." the Librarian continued... "something horrible is happening to the sixth and seventh even as we speak... you must hurry!"
"Karrak... you and Vixen stay behind..."
"NO MAJESTY!" The Librarian insisted... "ALL MUST BE GATHERED... there is little time... you must take her with you."
"Then we can't split up... we'll have to go as one group... I know Lord Randall... it is not ideal... but we have no choice... according to Lord Sanity here... we have some idea of their location... we must trust fate that he will lead us to the sixth and seventh. We ride now..."

He strode over to his horse and mounted easily, urging the steed out of the stables.
