I like to follow my cravings but just not overdo. I like to think I crave what I need in some ways. My daughter is learning about this since she became a vegetarian. She has totally different cravings than she used to. It's interesting.
I crave a nice round bottom to spank, paddle, flog, crop, cane... but that has nothing to do with nutrition and such, does it? An entirely different appetite, even though it would feed my soul much more surely and satisfyingly than does the food I ingest.<Sigh>

For the first time in probably 5+ years, I wore a size 12 today!! :nana: (and they fit without greasing myself down first or using a prybar to button the bloody things :D ) I bought a new pair of shorts to celebrate :)

Now to get back to my Yoga/Pilates workout and try to get things jump started again.

Well, it's not about nutrition, no, but now exercise, yes!

I agree feeding the soul is more satisfying and more important!

FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!!!!

I cant believe I just found this thread! :D

My husband and I have been on Atkins since December, after starting dieting on our own in September. Since then, I've lost about 70lbs and he's lost about 100. We're both really excited and driven to make it work this time.

We've adjusted the basic Atkins because neither of us want to eat eggs and bacon all the time for breakfast. Mostly we eat chicken, fish and a little pork, lots of salad, lots of steamed veggies.

We also recently joined Bally's and work out for an hour 3-4 times a week.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask

Well Sir Winston, unlike a craving for chocolate, yours is calorie free. In fact much like eating celery, I believe yours may be negative calories. In the act of consuming, you end up burning it up and then some; instead of letting it all go to your hips.

Or perhaps it all goes to your hips anyway? :p

No... in fact, much of it comes *from* the hip as I pivot to get just the right amount of force to apply to the tool of the moment.

So, no exercise because today was my rest day, but I did pretty well today with the food :D :nana: 'night all! sweet dreams!

I love rice, too. I like what Zen Buddhists suggest about cravings - take a small amount of what you crave, in order to control a desire and avoid having it become an obsession.

:rose: Neon

I like that method of dealing with things we crave. Absolute and total denial would indeed tend to trigger obsession and bingeing.

I walked to yoga class today and had a good session. I ate a light lunch and walked home. It's nearly 5 in the afternoon. My mind keeps flitting to snacky things--chips, nuts, toast with cashew butter...I'm trying to resist eating by having green tea (on my 2nd cup already).

Mazuri's post about fitting into a smaller size inspires me!

:)

I went through this with soda. I was a Dr Pepper drinker...at least 4-5 cans a day (or 3 of the 20oz bottles). When I decided to alter my diet, I never told myself I was going to stop drinking soda. I knew if I did that, I would crave them like mad and do a binge. So I would have a contest with myself: how long can I go today without a soda? Each day I didn't have a soda was my own small victory I could feel good about. When I'd gone 3-4 days without a soda and without really wanting one, I knew I was over them and could then say I'd cut out soda entirely. Now, they taste nasty *shudders* and I avoid drinking them if at all possible. I now drink Crystal Light, especially at work, and will go through about 5 bottles of water a day with them.

I haven't cut out everything I like, however. I do try to minimize the bad stuff so that, overall, my diet is healthier. I cut out whole milk for 2% (I doubt I'll go to anything less than that, tho), white bread for whole wheat, regular margarine for low salt/light...however, I love pasta and potatoes, I just ensure I don't have them every meal. :)

Cool :) Trying on that pair of shorts yesterday and having them fit was pretty inspiring to me, too!! :D I was kinda in shock the rest of the day. I had gotten up to a size 18, so I'm well pleased.

Broke the 170 barrier, 168 this AM. I never want to look at numbers like this again.

Yoga this evening, and a post-office run before it, so I'll clock about 3 miles walking too.

I am SORE from the saturday workout, this'll be interesting.

Okay, I'm doing it.
I'm going to weigh in and start back on program today.
EErk!

Every other Monday is official weigh-in day, so i hopped on the scale this morning.

In the past two weeks i have lost a total of 6lbs, which brings me down to 192.

22lbs away from my first goal. :cattail:
