The Lounge's Summer Pool Party!!

can't help but laugh

Well, this looks....large...

takes a sip and grins

...And pretty damn good too. Thank you, good sir!

settles back beside the water to enjoy the rather more-ish beverage

Pulls up lounger next to Brit, sticks straw in fish tank, takes a couple of sips.... then falls off lounger

You know how I said I notdrinkylot Brit? That belotta drinky. I mightgosleepy nap now...

<Throws cashmere blanket over Essie. Looks at her position again, and moves her a few feet further away from the water's edge. Brings his fish-tank next to Brit and sips, somewhat more discreetly than the sleeping girl.>

Poor Essie seems to operate on a different time-zone from the rest of us. It's as if she's miles away, sometimes. Still, at least she's not sleeping with the fishes.

<Looks cautiously into pool to see if goldfish are still alright.>

That she does.

smiles at the sleeping one

And heaven forbid!

sips a little more from the remains in her tank, feeling her cheeks pinking slightly from the slowly rising levels of alcohol swimming in her system

I think I shall have to see about getting a boat hired, something that could take people out on day trips, dolphin watching, diving...you know the sort I mean?
Something like that could be a lot of fun.

Mumbling quietly in the cosy blanket

Fishy swim. Fishy drink bad for Essie. Essie not swim. Essie sleep.

Tiny sigh then snuggling down further in blanket

Bare feet forge silent footsteps as a lean frame makes her way to the party. White board shorts cling desperately to narrow hips. They match the bikini top that does nothing to hide sharp, hard lines of muscle. Hemp jewelry accented with subtle shells wrap tightly around her neck and her right ankle. A small smile touches shy lips and she sets a single pink lily on the table with refreshments. A pretty thing for a pretty Witch. She finds a lounge chair and settles down....able to relax for the first time in two very busy weeks...

<Slips in through elegant marbled changing rooms, drops towel to floor, and executes a surprisingly graceful dive into the pool. It has yet to warm up in the morning sunshine, and the effect is enough to draw breath, before my body becomes used to it. When I dive underwater, Rilke poems resound through my head, and images from Le Grand Bleu form an inescapable mosaic to every movement. Time passes, and the lovely scattered forms around the poolside sleep on in the dappled light.>

At the sound of a splash, she stirs a little where she must have fallen asleep on her lounger, Essie's soft towel a blanket of sorts.
Letting her eyes grow accustomed to the sunlight, she smiles at the sound of someone enjoying the pool. Sitting up slightly to see who it is.

Well, hello again.

Good morning, dear Brit! I hope you are well. Thanks again for this place. The water is lovely, though somewhat cool. What are your plans for the day?

strolling through the morning sun in my bathing suit, a book under my arm, a parasol in my other arm, I sit by the edge of the pool, dangling my ruby red painted toes in the water, adjusting my parasol so I can lie beneath it's shade. I squint around and wave to everyone, before setting my book down to apply sunscreen.

Good morning, everyone. I thought I'd avail of this little place, it's probably the closest thing I'm going to get to a tropical holiday this summer.

Plus, the water looks so beautiful and clear...

I am very well, thank you, good sir. And yourself? I trust you're keeping well.

A stretch and a muted yawn and she sits up properly, towel remaining draped across her lap.

Writing, or at least that is my wish. I am taking part in a month long writing event and at the moment I'm a little ahead of where I should be. I'd like to keep it that way.

A glass of ice cold mango and orange juice is ordered, delivered and savoured.

And your day? Anything exciting in the hours ahead?

A broad smile at seeing another familiar face.

And hello, Pretty one! Was hoping we'd see you here.

I am very well thank you, Brit. As you say, I hope to get more writing done today, but the Muse will alight where she will in such fine weather, and I may have to chase her onto the highest hills. Well done for being ahead of schedule!

And Ms. Serpentine! Always a pleasure. I'll try not to splash too much - you look very relaxed.

Thanks Brit, it's a nice little spot you've created here. I'm a big fan of the relaxed, laid back parts of Lit, so you get a big thumbs up from me.

smiles, adjusting oversized sunglasses

Thank you so much, I've missed you! And don't worry about splashing, that water looks so inviting I might just join you in there.

winks

These days true relaxation is a rare thing. If I can help out with a little, then I'm happy.

grins and lays back in the sunshine, closing her eyes

Five more minutes, maybe ten, then I'll write...

I roll carefully onto my stomach and wave to the new faces that have appeared.

"Hi, I'm Sidney, and unfortunately I think I have had enough sun for the day. But, please enjoy yourselves, and I will likely be back here later. Please let me know if we're having any outdoor soirees. I'm always game for grilled food and a dip in the pool under the stars. I'm so out of touch with nature, especially in the evenings, when I'm not on vacation. You all refer to it as holiday, right?"

I smiled at being the only American in this sweet international gathering of sunbathers.

I was thinking about it myself today. Had a few ideas for the challenge, and then one or two for other stories.

Once I get my dietician appointment out of the way, I can truly relax.

This is a wonderful retreat when you need to recharge between stories and real life. :)

<Rolls over onto back, gazing up into the cloudless sky and trying not to stare at the loveliness draped around the poolside, which outdoes even the orchids in its beauty.>

Charmed to see you again, Sidney. Excuse me not shaking hands - I don't want to get you all wet.

"Yes, I'll be back to chat with you all another day. No worries, I'm waterproof," I say with a playful wink.

swishes feet in the water, idly flicking through her copy of MR James' collected works

This ought to give me sufficient chills to keep me cool.

smiles at a face she doesn't recognise

Nice to meet you.

Looks around for the woman who invited me. Well, this is what I get for getting out this early. Maybe a couple of laps will help...

<Notes Ms. Serpentine's choice of reading matter and is suitably impressed. Hauls self out of water at last, noting wrinkled swimming pool skin, and thinks HP Lovecraft might be more appropriate. Lies down, squelchily, on the nearest sun lounger, and waves cheerily at Mr LipLovinMan.>

puts her book down and eases into the water, relishing the warmth against her pale skin

Well, this is just heaven.

treads water and ducks under a couple of times

Thank god for waterproof mascara! I feel all summery now.

smiles at the folks dotted around

Emerges from cashmere blanket where she has been sleeping off the effects of drinking from the fish tank, squinting at bright sunshine.

Only one way to do this....

Takes a running jump into the pool, emerging gasping but feeling a whole lot brighter

Nothing like a shock to the system to get the senses back on track :)

Sunset at the pool deck and the view is stunning.

Torches and fairy lights illuminate the space and the smell of grilled food floats temptingly on the air.

Brit wanders in, a brightly coloured sarong tied around her waist, a simple black one piece underneath, an equally colourful drink in one hand.

Evening all!
