The Lounge's Summer Pool Party!!

Hello DesEsseintes. Would it be okay if I called you 'Des'? I have ran across you as well. Pleased to finally be properly introduced. :)

StarryEyed: Take it from me, go for the travel rather than the ice cream. (I've just been diagnosed as diabetic  )

PrettySerpentine! Heeeey! :) *splashes water on the irish lass*

Sidney_1: I am very pleased to meet you. :) Pull up a chair and we'll watch the grill together, and I'll try to refrain from cracking any 'shrimps on the barbie' jokes. ;)

I seem to keep missing everyone in here. I love shrimp and will be happy to help you turn those skewers. :) Do you have any idea what langoustines are? I will try them. . . I'm assuming they are fish? This is such an international crowd!

*is torn between wanting to help the poor man and wanting to laugh at his misfortune. Opts to sit and watch in amusement, before offering him a drink*

Also, evening, Sidney and NB! I'm up for some grilled, too.

splashes water back at NB

Cheeky!

Glad to hear you had a nice holiday, Starry. I hope the bad stuff wasn't anything too serious. Anyway, if there's anything I can do, or listen, or offer chocolate and creamy stuff that we can eat and smother all over our faces and make our newly diabetic friend jealous...

giggles whilst eating a huge chocolate eclair that's melting all over her fingers

Oh, look at the mess I'm making...

Heeeeheeeee, I'll take you up on that last offer. I've literally just made some pancakes now and I am just smearing and slathering on the syrup and nutella. It's getting all over me. Hmmmmmm no regrets

Looks at the mess PS makes of herself. Launches himself from his deckchair and barrels into her and plunges into the pool with her.

Serves you right for tempting me with chocolate, you tease.

Helps PS out of the pool and offers her a drink as a peace offering.

laughs and wriggles as she takes a mouthful of water

Maybe it was that super tasty diabetic chocolate. You never know. I think I'll take that drink now. What are you having? I'm thinking mojito...

Starry, I am currently having a nectarine. And in another two minutes I'm going to watch Independence Day. And then spam Facebook with July 4th jokes.

God, I crack myself up sometimes.

grins and waits, certain the delay will be worth it, and hoping his choice of attire won't prove too much under the heat of the sun

smoothing her dress and pondering whether she should dart into her cabana and dig out her tap shoes

<Returns, only to pause in delight at the sight of Brit in full flight. Waits until her dance is over, and bursts into applause.>

You dance like a dervish, Brit! And don't worry about the heat. I once undertook a 12 mile sponsored walk over steep hills in 30 degree heat wearing a three piece tweed suit. Besides, as you know:

Mad Dogs and Englishmen

This is true and, may I say, that's quite the achievement. Well done you!
Might I suggest a moment of pause and a spot of refreshment, not to mention a chance for me to catch my breath, before we take a turn together?

She smiles, a little flushed from her exertions, waving to the barman to bring them something cool and light.

And how are you today, Jean?

I am well, thank you, although I have to take my leave of your charming company soon to go and dress as a pirate. (Don't ask - really!)

This iced mint and elderflower concoction is quite something! Where di dyou find the barman? He looks like early 50s Elvis!

I won't ask. As one who has to dress up regularly as part of her 'day job', I understand entirely.

nods sympathetically

And he was quite a find, wasn't he? He's proving to be a truly gifted mixer of cocktails and...quite a hit with the ladies and gents alike.

winks mischievously at the raven haired man behind the bar and giggles

I think we shall keep him.

Peeping out of cabana, disappointed to have missed what sounded like a raucous gathering the previous evening, emerging in a little navy number to hopefully catch some sun and soak up some serenity

Smiling as the bartender brings her favourite drink, served with a wink and a small caress of the shoulder

Thank you, Monroe, you always know what a girl needs.

Settling back under the umbrella, breathing in rhythm with the waves, trying to find inner calm

Slap slap slap slap...

He steps towards the pool, though already wearing fins as he is the 'step' in question is not the most graceful of strides, and stops a short distance off to survey the landscape - well, okay, waterscape - and ponder his options: pool, sun, ocean.

Drown or fry, drown or fry... hmm.

His nose is covered in white lotion, the overwhelming whiteness of his skin like a magnet to UV rays that seem to take such glee in lobsterizing him, and he has no intention of going down without a fight. One man versus the largest and most dominating mass in the solar system, how could he lose?

Shirtless, swim shorts already on, and with a striped beach ball under one arm, he decides the pool, and whatever drinks the nearby bar may offer, seem like a good place to start, and so he aims his awkward gait in that direction, and sets off.

Slap slap slap slap...

Brit hears him coming long before he arrives and tries to contain her giggles as he flip-flap-flops his way to the bar. Looking him up and down she meets his eyes with a wide grin.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're here for the fishing. A drink for this gentleman, please.

She smiles winningly at the barman before leaning to wipe a little of the sunscreen off his nose and apply it to his cheeks, rubbing it in with a whisper.

I think you missed a spot.

Spreads his arms wide, letting the beach ball bounce by his feet and roll a short distance away.

"It was the fins that gave it away, wasn't it? I was going for a kind of camouflage thing, maybe they'd see the fins, think I was another fish, you know? I was even going to do the..."

He pauses to suck his cheeks in, moving his lips open and closed in a mimed fish face.

"They'll never see me coming!"

Scrunches his nose up as she rubs the lotion on his cheeks, then laughs.

"I figured it was best to apply liberally as they say. I may not come from the great white north, but I don't look too far from the part."

Shifts his attention to the barman with a grin.

"Something with rum in it, please! And, I don't know.. juice or something. Or just more rum, even. I'm not picky."

"Oooh! Rum sounds good, I'll have the same, please."
Another smile to the barman and then one brighter at the newest arrival to the pool.
"And that fish impression is pretty awesome. I think you've got nothing to worry about. I'm glad you managed to find the place. Was hoping you'd stop by at some point. What do you think?"
Bites her lip a little nervously, waiting for his thoughts.

Quietly slips off the lounger and back into her cabana, needing to get out of the sun and have another snooze

Grin broadly at her and nods, stepping up onto a tall chair by the bar and letting his flippered feet swing a bit.

"Of course, I wouldn't miss it!"

Pauses to take a sip of the drink that had been set in front of him, and then leans closer to her, his eyes shifting side-to-side and his voice dropping to a conspiratorial level.

"Well, freckles, if I'm entirely honest with you..."

Leans even closer, his voice barely a whisper above the waves now.

"I think it's smashing!"

Makes no attempt to hide the smile that creeps onto her face at his whispered admission.

"Then I'm happy. More than happy."

A quick kiss is stolen from his lips and then a giggle as she wipes furiously at the splodge of sunscreen that now decorates her nose.

"And, as is becoming the way of things around here, this drink is divine!"

wakes up with a start in the recliner, realizes it's sunday, dozes off again

Lazy summer days are the best! :)

Having the pool and ocean to myself, I spread my white terry-cloth towel on a lounger and adjust the umbrella so that the sun isn't directly in my eyes. The waves are crashing softly in the background and the sea gulls are squawking in the distance. I apply sun protection lotion the best that I can around the navy and white bikini that LipLovin Man found online for me. . . .

I settle in and hope that someone will arrive in time so that I can turn over without fear of being burned.
