THE NEW CHYOO (with link)! Also, what features should be part of an updated CHYOO?

Just to let you know there are some of the threads on the Chyoo (Old) site that re not on Chyoa (New) site in my stories, not sure if anyone else is having this problem.

There seems to be an issue when it comes to displaying those threads in the story map. Within the story itself they should appear as follow-up questions. Can you see them there, or are they missing completely?

Whenever I see missing threads in the story map, the threads are still there. I just have to click on something earlier in the map and then work my way through the story to where I want to be. Usually once I do that, going to the map does show that thread.

I am trying to track down the issue where some threads come in with quotes turned to question marks or part or all of the thread is in a grey box. I think it has to do with the program that people copy-pasted from to the old site. Unfortunately the old site is down again (you can get to the story maps, but anything you click is just a blank page), so I'll just ask here: What program did you use to write your threads on the old site?

For point of reference, I used Programmer's Notepad, and none of my threads have the issue.

I use Open Office/Libre Office and some posts I made in "Cheerleader Destiny" have this problem.

Please check your stories. Friedman thinks he fixed the missing thread issue, please let us know if it is still happening.

Opinion Time (Quote message in reply so we know you are answering)

On the old CHYOO, threads were ordered by creation date at the bottom of their parent and in the tree. Currently, the new site is ordering threads alphabetically. Does anyone have a preference?

I personally prefer ordering by creation date, but let's here what you guys have to say.

I agree. Ordering by creation date would be my preference.

I used Microsoft Word and didn't have this issue on threads I created, but threads from other authors in my story did have this problem and I had to fix it.

I used Open Office Writer and my threads have consistently had the question mark problem.

I only have it for quotation marks, not single quotes. I've noticed that threads from a few writers also had things like I?m and wasn?t.

Also, I'd love it if the editor had the ability to change the order. Let's say the first page has two threads, then the editor creates a thread titled "Cast of Characters". That's something that he should be able to keep at the bottom of the list, even if someone adds another child thread.

This. This, this, this.

Having stuff like character listings or notes for writers and being able to decide if it should be on the top of the list or at the bottom instead of sandwiched between actually plot-continuing threads would be wonderful.

What happened to the bookmark/quicklink bar that was at the top? Where the far right had a link back to the literotica forums here? That was awesome.

I'll use the same example of my last report (http://forum.literotica.com/showpost.php?p=56049898&postcount=259)
(I've already linked the post on a report)
Let's proceed in order:

1) I just noticed this: look at 17.1, thre is a <NO TITLE> thread. In the old chyoo that's where you have a "linked thread" (that is a thread that links to an existing one, so that you continue the story from there). ALL linked threads are like that.

2) Go to (7.2. You're feeling naughty and thirsty!). Here (few posts down, 9.1 and 9.2) you'll notice the order on the threads is different from the old chyoo (very minor problem but that's that). And the issue persist from now on RANDOMLY. Sometimes is the same order, sometimes isn't. Can't find a pattern.

3) I tested the whole story map and you'll happy to see the issue of the missing threads is no more :)
They're all there.

I'll add my personal feedback on things:

- you will notice the new chyoo handles the space A LOT better on the map, both horizzontally and vertically. And this despite starting the threads on a "center-left" position (in the old chyoo it's on the "far left")
- the map takes a lot to load

Other report: clicking "mark all as read" on the bookmarks tab (top right) doesn't reset (with white) my threads on the stry map (that has green or other colours)

Linked threads - as in, when a new thread was connected to an already existing thread - seem to have all broken when the stories were transferred, at least on some stories. They come up with <NO TITLE> blank threads instead.

Sorry if this is a known issue, I had a quick scan and couldn't see it, but this thread is getting pretty big now. :)

EDIT - Derp, someone RIGHT ABOVE ME reported this. I am a dummy. :p

Seem like the feature isn't part of the new site? Can't she the option LINK THREAD as on the old site? It really should be part of it, a pretty nice feature! If door A is locked, go back and try B for example - or different choices having a short term effect before the main story line continues.

Another thing: a list of writers who's contributed to story? The writing creating the story and the one last updating a thread is shown, but not a complete list as on the old site. Pretty minor, but nice with such an overview!

Again, appreciate the work being done!

Thanks for your feedback!

Here are some changes that were made in the last days:
- Story Map / Threads are ordered by creation date
- New search filter: POV
- Bug fix: Incomplete story map resolved
- Dutch added as language
- Loading time of story maps reduced

Linking is not currently online. Once Friedman has a chance to get it working, the links in old stories, currently appearing as <NO TITLE> pages, should also be resolved.

Dear God, I love you :D
This site is becoming even better than literotica, and unique in its own niche.

Guys, don't respond, don't even read his posts. I don't.
We're not going to help Timothy get better if we turn a blind eye to his problems. :( We should all do our best to help him! He needs our help, and just because he's not asking directly is no reason we should ignore him. True, we should do that in a more appropriate thread.

I apologize for this off-topic post. As a suggestion for the site:

Is is possible for any ratings voted on a story thread by a banned user to be automatically stricken?

He's a troll. He *loves* the attention. He loves every opportunity to argue. Giving him more attention will only make him worse.

Ignoring bad behavior really is helping him.

interesting - story map question

Haven't signed up for it yet.. but thought of an idea

Is there a way to add a thread then tie in choices from an existing
thread? The story map would have to be checked so that doesn't
result in loops, but that would be a way to make it longer.

That's called "linking threads" around here. It's part of CHYOO and apparently Friedman is waiting for an opportune moment to activate it on CHYOA.
