The new football thread

Gasparilla refers to the legendary Spanish pirate José Gaspar, whose myth inspired Tampa, Florida's famous annual Gasparilla Pirate Fest, a massive pirate-themed celebration with parades, boat invasions, and festivals held each January/February, alongside the real-world barrier island of Gasparilla Island in Southwest Florida, home to Boca Grande and a state park.

It's a fun time in Tampa, similar to Mardi Gras.

Thanks

While Gaspar is a popular figure in Florida folklore, there is no evidence that he existed.

Hope the playoff game is better than this,Gasparilla is a blowout.

Oklahoma is really good on defense,20-23 points might be enough to win.

Tide definitely deserved to be in the playoff. Sorry Irish...you petty whiners...the playoffs are better without you.
Somebody is always gonna be left out, whether it's a 12 team playoff,16 or even 68.

But I don't think Tulane or James Madison have a chance today but we'll see might surprise me.

I agree. Think if Tulane and/or JM get blown out, they rethink including the Group of Five schools going forward?

I don't think they do either. But Irish were beat by Miami...which i also am not convinced is a good team...in a head to head meeting. So if it comes down to 2 teams...which gets in? The team that won during the season. When you add more teams...you get poorer teams...and the games mean less.

I hate the direction Collegiate football is heading. The NIL has broken the game.

Eight teams get in...no byes. Rank them...play. No special rules...no accommodations.

I'm an Irish fan but I agree with the decision,Miami and A&M beat them on the field so they should stay home.Win either and they're in.

First team to 6 wins today, maybe 3 lol.

Canes up 3-0 late 3rd over the Aggies. That Reuben Bain for Miami is a monster thats a top 5 pick in the NFL draft

Miami and Bama winning does not mean they belonged in. They were absolutely given those spots in large part because they were so highly ranked pre season and the committee believed they COULD win if they were included. But whether you deserve to be in or not is all about how you played during the season. If BYU wins the pop tart bowl by 70 or Texas wins the the citrus bowl by 80, it won't mean they deserved in, but it sure will look like it.
