I got totally 1* bombed by the bomb brigade in LW. My initial scores were in the 1-2s but as my vote count climbed my score did. Not enough to really recover though. I’m stuck at 4.14 even with 89 favorites.

In the old forums you could tell how many were reading the forum and how many were logged in. I think every time I looked there were more anonymous readers than signed-in members. I don't know if you can tell any more.
I am very new on Lit, but this is pretty much what I would have expected from the Fetish category. I adore women's feet, not an obsession but a real turn-on; however, I kept this element a minor kink and posted in a more mainstream category. I got kink-shamed a bit because I posted a gangbang-intensive story in "Group sex" while the interracial theme was truly dominant. On the old forum I believe it would say how many were viewing each forum on the main page, and it would always seem to be more then the authors logged in at the time.
Fetish as a category is tough: I picture readers there filtering through titles and descriptions looking for their particular thing. Or tag words. But there are as many fetishes as there are stories, so most stories get a low readership/votes. And a fetish is a strong thing - like your foot example indicates - a sine qua non for the fetishist’s satisfaction. I’m not sure if a Fetish story merely needs to focus on a reader’s item of fetishistic attraction or feature the active fetish-level obsession itself.
Yeah, Fetish is tough, but my story did not really fit in any other category- non erotic? hmmm hey ho. 4.2 with 20 votes is better than 3.37 and 35 votes for my last contest story.
Most of my stories I struggle with where to place them category-wise. It’s a very personal label as well as a strategic attempt to connect with readers. For yours, Bazzle, I think I would have gone with Erotic Horror - playing off creepy atmosphere you brought to it. But that is just me; I have definitely had commenters take me to the wood shed over my choices in the past.
